20200910 Zoom Initiation Malda Guwahati Bolpur Barasat

The following is a Zoom initiation talk given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on September 10th,2020 in Śrī Dhāma Māyāpur, India. Initiation talk was given to the Malda, Bolpur, Barasat Devotees.

mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī-guruṁ dīna-tāraṇam
paramānandaṁ mādhavaṁ śrī caitanya iśvaram

Hariḥ oṁ tat sat!

Jayapatākā Swami: Today is that day, when Śrīla Prabhupāda landed in the USA. Today is a very auspicious day. Today you all have taken vows that you will follow the regulative principles and chant 16 rounds minimum every day. And you will help me in fulfilling the instructions of Śrīla Prabhupāda. That is why I am very grateful. I hope that all of you have come voluntarily. You want to take initiation, that is why you have come. When I am giving initiation, you have to request me, gurudeva, please give me initiation.

Human life is very rare. Because in this human life we can understand the Lord. We can do service to the Lord. We can go back to Godhead at the end of life. Generally, the animals and other living entities cannot understand if God is there or not, who am I? The lion will think I am a lion. The dog will think I am a dog. The cat will think I am a cat. If someone told the dog you are not a dog, you are soul, it will not understand. That is why this human life gives us an opportunity to serve the Lord. Ordinarily, people think that sense gratification gives us perfection of life. But these senses give us happiness and sadness. But as long as this human body exists, the senses will also exist. Sometimes the senses are satisfied and sometimes they are distressed. Like, in the summer season, we like the fan. But in the winter season, the fan is not required, it gives us distress. The same sense gives us happiness once and unhappiness another time. That is why we need to serve the Master of our senses. Master is Hṛṣīkeśa.

hṛṣīkeṇa hṛṣīkeśa-sevanaṁ bhaktir ucyate (Cc. Madhya 19.170)

This is devotional service.With our senses we serve the Lord.

Now having this human life if we serve the Lord, then our life will be perfected. We will generally have birth, death, old age and disease. But by doing kṛṣṇa-bhakti or devotion to Kṛṣṇa, we can get out of this birth, death, old age and disease cycle. Then we can go back to Godhead. I request everyone take the name of Kṛṣṇa, serve Kṛṣṇa and read the scriptures on Kṛṣṇa. And try to preach Kṛṣṇa consciousness to other people.

Now the ‘World Holy Name Week’ is going to be held from 17th September to the 23rd September. If you can send a video of yourself chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra, I will send it from India. That by doing this Harināma there is world peace and world happiness is what we wish. We know that if we love the Lord, then we will have prema and thus there will be peace. We are trying to see that about ten lakh people all over the world chant the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra.

Anyway, there is a lot of restriction because of this Corona virus. That is why you chant in your homes, that is how this situation will improve. I see now that more people are interested in spirituality. Those who are interested, you should try to nurture them to chant the holy name of Kṛṣṇa. I hope that everyone taking initiation has taken your vows. Those who have taken your vows please raise your hands.
