Hare Kṛṣṇa! Dear Devotees! Today we will continue with the compilation of Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Book, Today's chapter is entitled:

Kīrtana, Dancing and Bhojana While Glorifying Mādhavendra Purī
Under the Section: The Lord’s Attempt to Go to Vṛndāvana

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 4.487

mahotsavera upāyana-darśane santuṣṭacitta prabhura saṁkīrtana-sthalīte pratyāvartana—
nava nava vastra saba dekhe prabhu yata
sakala ananta-lekhibāre pāri kata

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu saw many varieties of new cloth, everything was unlimited therefore I am unable to describe all of these things.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 4.488

sambhāra dekhiyā prabhu mahā-harṣa-mana
ācāryera praśaṁsā karena anukṣaṇa

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya was greatly pleased to see the arrangements, and He continually praised Lord Advaita Ācārya.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 4.489

eke eke dekhi' prabhu sakala sambhāra
saṅkīrtana-sthānete āilā punar-bāra

Jayapatākā Swami: After seeing every one of the arrangements, Lord Caitanya returned to where the saṅkīrtana was being performed.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 4.490

prabhu mātra āilena saṅkīrtana-sthāne
parānanda pāilena sarva-bhakta-gaṇe

Jayapatākā Swami: As soon as Lord Caitanya came to the place of saṅkīrtana, all the devotees there became filled with ecstasy.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 4.491

bhaktagaṇa-saṅge mahānande kīrtana o nartana—
nā jāni ke kon dike nāce gāya vā'ya
nā jāni ke kon dike mahānande dhāya

Jayapatākā Swami: Who can describe the way that the devotees danced, sang, played instruments, and ran about in ecstasy?

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 4.492

sabe kare jaya jaya mahā-hari-dhvani
‘bala bala hari bala’ āra nāhi śuni

Jayapatākā Swami: Everyone exclaimed, “Jaya! Jaya!” as they chanted the name of Hari. Nothing could be heard other than, bolo! Bolo! “Chant! Chant! Hari bol!” Hari bol!” Jay Srila Gurumaharaj ! So, all the devotees were in so much ecstasy, some were running around, and some were dancing some were chanting and the author is saying, “who can write all of this! It is most difficult!” So, when Lord Caitanya came their ecstasy increased multifold, everyone was chanting and dancing more ecstatically chanting loudly the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra and also chanting Hari bol!

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 4.493

sarva-vaiṣṇavera aṅga candane bhūṣita
sabāra sundara vakṣa-mālāya pūrṇita

Jayapatākā Swami: The bodies of all the Vaiṣṇavas were decorated with sandalwood pulp, and their attractive chests were adorned with flower garlands. All the Vaiṣṇavas were wearing flower garlands and had sandalwood paste. So this shows that the kīrtana singer should be properly received and respected with sandalwood pulp and flower garlandṣ.

Hare Kṛṣṇa! Haribol!

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 4.494

nityānandera bālyabhāve nṛtya—
nityānanda mahā-malla prema-sukha-maya
bālya-bhāve nṛtya karilena atiśaya

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Nityānanda, who was like a great wrestler and who was filled with the happiness of ecstatic love, danced wildly in the mood of a child. Lord Nityānanda was participating in the kīrtana in this way, so we can understand that it was a very ecstatic moment and the unlimited material universe was filled with the transcendental vibration.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 4.497

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 4.499

Jayapatākā Swami: All the devotees danced in groups, and Lord Śrī Śacīnandana Mahāprabhu danced in the middle of all the devotees.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 4.502

ei mata sarva dina nāciyā gāiyā
vasilena mahāprabhu sabāre laiyā

Jayapatākā Swami: In this way after dancing and singing throughout the day, Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu sat down with everyone.

Purport (by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī): Another reading for the first line is sabārā kīrtanā-śrama antare jāniyā

Jayapatākā Swami: “Having known that everyone was becoming fatigued from the kīrtana.”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 4.503

tabe śeṣe ājñā māgi' advaita-ācārya
bhojanera karite lāgilā sarva-kārya

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Advaita Ācārya then took permission from Lord Caitanya and went to make all the arrangements for eating prasāda.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 4.504

mahāprabhura bhaktagaṇa saṅge paramānande mādhavendra-mahimā kīrtanamukhe bhojana—
vasilena mahāprabhu karite bhojana

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu sat down in the middle to take prasāda and all the devotees sat around Lord Caitanya.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 4.505

catur-dike bhakta-gaṇa yena tārācaya
madhye koṭi-candra yena prabhura udaya

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya in the middle appeared as effulgent as millions of moons arising, and the devotees surrounding Him resembled the stars.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 4.506

divya anna bahu-vidha piṣṭaka vyañjana

Jayapatākā Swami: There were many varieties of divine rice, milk cakes, and vegetable preparations that Mother Śacī had cooked for the worship of Śrī Mādhavendra Purī.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 4.507

mādhava-purīra kathā kahiyā kahi
yābhojana karena prabhu sarva-bhakta laiyā

Jayapatākā Swami: As Lord Caitanya ate with all the devotees, He continually narrated the glories of Śrī Mādhavendra Purī. So, here Lord Caitanya was glorifying His own devotee and He showed how to observe a Vaiṣṇava worship. He gave His association to all the devotees; He was chanting and dancing in their midst. He was taking prasāda with them and glorifying Śrī Mādhavendra Purī. Thus, all the devotees were in great ecstasy.
