The following is a Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Book Compilation given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on July 18th, 2023 in Śrī Dhāma Māyāpur, India.

mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī-guruṁ dīna-tāraṇam
paramānandaṁ mādhavaṁ śrī caitanya iśvaram

Hare Kṛṣṇa! Dear Devotees! Today we will continue with the compilation of Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Book. Today's chapter is entitled as:

Phalaśruti – Will Destroy the Threefold Miseries, and the Unhappiness of False Arguments as Well, Part 1
Under the section: The Inconceivable Behavior of Lord Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 19.78

ekadina jagannātha-vallabhodyāne prabhura mahābhāvāveśe daśaprakāra citrajalpa varṇana :—

eka-kāle vaiśākhera paurṇamāsī-dine
rātri-kāle mahāprabhu calilā udyāne

Translation: One full-moon night in the month of Vaiśākha [April-May], Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu went to a garden.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, we are going through the discussions of Lord Caitanya’s ecstatic manifestations. These manifestations destroy the false conceptions of material misery and they also replace the false arguments.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 19.79

‘jagannātha-vallabha’ nāma udyāna-pradhāne
praveśa karilā prabhu lañā bhakta-gaṇe

Translation: The Lord, along with His devotees, entered one of the nicest gardens, called Jagannātha-vallabha.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 19.80

praphullita vṛkṣa-vallī,—yena vṛndāvana
śuka, śārī, pika, bhṛṅga kare ālāpana

Translation: In the garden were fully blossomed trees and creepers exactly like those in Vṛndāvana. Bumblebees and birds like the śuka, śārī and pika talked with one another.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, Śukas and Śārīs are the male parrots and the female parrots. So, like Vṛndāvana, all the birds were talking to each other and Kṛṣṇa knew the language of the birds, bees, bumble bees. Someone asked me if Krsna knew Tamil?! Of course!! Ha!Ha!

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 19.81

puṣpa-gandha lañā vahe malaya-pavana
‘guru’ hañā taru-latāya śikhāya nācana

Translation: A mild breeze was blowing, carrying the fragrance of aromatic flowers. The breeze had become a guru and was teaching all the trees and creepers how to dance.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, this is a poetic presentation using the breeze as a guru, the breeze is teaching the trees and creepers how to dance!

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 19.82

pūrṇa-candra-candrikāya parama ujjvala
taru-latādi jyotsnāya kare jhalamala

Translation: Brightly illuminated by the full moon, the trees and creepers glittered in the light.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 19.83

chaya ṛtu-gaṇa yāhāṅ vasanta pradhāna
dekhi’ ānandita hailā gaura bhagavān

Translation: The six seasons, especially spring, seemed present there. Seeing the garden, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, was very happy.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, in India, there are six seasons. In the West we commonly have four seasons. So, each season in India is around two months long. Such a nice environment was created by the scented flowers and breeze and Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, He felt very happy!

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 19.84

“lalita-lavaṅga-latā” pada gāoyāñā
nṛtya kari’ bulena prabhu nija-gaṇa lañā

Translation: In this atmosphere, the Lord had His associates sing the verse from the Gīta-govinda beginning with the words “lalita-lavaṅga-latā” as He danced and wandered about with them.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, the environment being like Vṛndāvana inspired Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu to dance.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 19.85

prati-vṛkṣa-vallī aiche bhramite bhramite
aśokera tale kṛṣṇe dekhena ācambite

Translation: As He thus wandered around every tree and creeper, He came beneath an aśoka tree and suddenly saw Lord Kṛṣṇa.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Caitanya as He was wandering around the trees, He saw svayam Kṛṣṇa beneath the Asoka tree.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 19.86

kṛṣṇa dekhi’ mahāprabhu dhāñā calilā
āge dekhi’ hāsi’ kṛṣṇa antardhāna ha-ilā

Translation: When He saw Kṛṣṇa, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu began running very swiftly, but Kṛṣṇa smiled and disappeared.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, seeing Krsna, Lord Caitanya ran after Him very swiftly. But Lord Kṛṣṇa smiled and disappeared.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 19.87

āge pāilā kṛṣṇe, tāṅre punaḥ hārāñā
bhūmete paḍilā prabhu mūrcchita hañā

Translation: Having gotten Kṛṣṇa and then lost Him, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu fell to the ground unconscious.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Caitanya, He was seeing Kṛṣṇa in great ecstasy but they Kṛṣṇa disappeared and Lord Caitanya felt extreme separation.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 19.88

kṛṣṇera śrī-aṅga-gandhe bhariche udyāne
sei gandha pāñā prabhu hailā acetane

Translation: The entire garden was filled with the scent of Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s transcendental body. When Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu smelled it, He fell unconscious at once.

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Kṛṣṇa was not only beautiful, but He had also a very attractive fragrance! and Lord Caitanya smelt Kṛṣṇa, He fell unconscious.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 19.89

nirantara nāsāya paśe kṛṣṇa-parimala
gandha āsvādite prabhu ha-ilā pāgala

Translation: But the scent of Kṛṣṇa’s body incessantly entered His nostrils, and the Lord became mad to relish it.

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Mahāprabhu in these pastimes, He was in the mood of Rādhārāṇī and the gopīs. Therefore, when He smelt the fragrance of Kṛṣṇa, He became mad after to relish it.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 19.90

prabhura citrajalpa :—

kṛṣṇa-gandha-lubdhā rādhā sakhīre ye kahilā
sei śloka paḍi’ prabhu artha karilā

Translation: Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī once spoke a verse to Her gopī friends describing how She hankers for the transcendental scent of Kṛṣṇa’s body. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu recited that same verse and made its meaning clear.

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya, He said He would come as His devotee, and He combined with Rādhārāṇī, took Her heart and Her mood, and naturally, He was eager to smell the fragrance of Kṛṣṇa.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 19.91

kṛṣṇagandhākṛṣṭā śrī-rādhāra ukti :—

govinda-līlāmṛte (86) viśākhāra prati śrī-rādhikā-vākya—

Translation: “The scent of Kṛṣṇa’s transcendental body surpasses the aroma of musk and attracts the minds of all women. The eight lotuslike parts of His body distribute the fragrance of lotuses mixed with that of camphor. His body is anointed with aromatic substances like musk, camphor, sandalwood and aguru. O My dear friend, that Personality of Godhead, also known as the enchanter of Cupid, always increases the desire of My nostrils.’

Purport: This verse is found in the Govinda-līlāmṛta (8.6).

Jayapatākā Swami: Rādhārāṇī is always eager to smell the transcendental fragrance of Lord Kṛṣṇa’s body.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 19.92

ślokārtha; kṛṣṇāṅgagandha-mādhuryabala-varṇana :—
yathā rāga—

kastūrikā-nīlotpala, tāra yei parimala,
tāhā jini’ kṛṣṇa-aṅga-gandha

vyāpe caudda-bhuvane, kare sarva ākarṣaṇe,
nārī-gaṇera āṅkhi kare andha

Translation: “The scent of Kṛṣṇa’s body surpasses the fragrances of musk and the bluish lotus flower. Spreading throughout the fourteen worlds, it attracts everyone and makes the eyes of all women blind.

Jayapatākā Swami: So when Kṛṣṇa is all-attractive, we can understand that every aspect of Kṛṣṇa is attractive.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 19.93

gopībaśakāraka kṛṣṇāṅga-gandha :—

sakhi he, kṛṣṇa-gandha jagat mātāya
nārīra nāsāte paśe, sarva-kāla tāhāṅ vaise,
kṛṣṇa-pāśa dhari’ lañā yāya

Translation: “My dear friend, the scent of Kṛṣṇa’s body enchants the entire world. It especially enters the nostrils of women and remains seated there. Thus it captures them and forcibly brings them to Kṛṣṇa.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 19.94

padmasadṛśa kṛṣṇāṅgasamūhera gandha-mādhurya-varṇana :—

netra-nābhi, vadana, kara-yuga caraṇa,
ei aṣṭa-padma kṛṣṇa-aṅge
karpūra-lipta kamala, tāra yaiche parimala,
sei gandha aṣṭa-padma-saṅge

Translation: “Kṛṣṇa’s eyes, navel and face, hands and feet are like eight lotus flowers on His body. From those eight lotuses emanates a fragrance like a mixture of camphor and lotus. That is the scent associated with His body.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, Kṛṣṇa has a unique scent and Krsna’s devotees relish that scent. The eight parts of Kṛṣṇa’s body are like eight lotuses, two feet, two hands, face, navel, two eyes, so these are like the eight lotuses.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 19.95

hema-kīlita candana, tāhā kari’ gharṣaṇa,
tāhe aguru, kuṅkuma, kastūrī
karpūra-sane carcā aṅge, pūrva aṅgera gandha saṅge,
mili’ tāre yena kaila curi

Translation: “When sandalwood pulp is mixed with aguru, kuṅkuma, musk and camphor and spread on Kṛṣṇa’s body, it combines with Kṛṣṇa’s own original bodily perfume and seems to cover it.

Purport: In another version, the last line of this verse reads kāmadevera mana kaila curi. This means “the scent of all these substances mixes with the previous scent of Kṛṣṇa’s body and steals away the mind of Cupid.”

Jayapatākā Swami: So, we are having so many verses just dwelling on the wonderful fragrance of Kṛṣṇa’s body, because it’s something we don’t usually think about! Actually, Kṛṣṇa, He is manifesting His sweet fragrance! So, we can understand that everything about Kṛṣṇa is attractive!
