20231125 Question and Answer Session

25 Nov 2023|English|Question and Answer Session|Śrī Māyāpur, India

Two questions.

Question: When we chant Hare Kṛṣṇa with eyes closed, if we think that we are doing service, then is that an aparādha or offence?

Jayapatākā Swami: If we chant Harināma then it is not bad. If we don’t chant Harināma that is bad and think of something else other than that. Along with Harināma thinking of Kṛṣṇa is good.

Question: In Caitanya-bhāgavata, Chapter 27, Verses 47 and 48 where Mahāprabhu is giving consolation to Mother Śacī, after she comes to know about Mahāprabhu’s sannyāsa, Mahāprabhu says that further in His two more incarnations, she will be His mother. First is Mahāprabhu Deity form as the son of Dharitrī and Mahāprabhu in the holy name. Bhūdevī or Dharitrī Devī is the wife of Viṣṇu, but Mahāprabhu says that mother Śacī will be His mother as Dharitrī. If earth becomes His mother but we understand the Earth is the consort of Lord Viṣṇu, how can this happen?

Jayapatākā Swami: You see, today we were reading from Caitanya-candrāmṛta. Where is the question from this? If you have any question from this you should ask. If you ask other questions then people’s mind will be diverted. The great personalities, Śiva, Śukadeva Gosvāmī, Nārada, Uddhava, they are trying to reach Lord Caitanya. So the author is saying that I too am trying to reach Lord Caitanya and he will not be that far away if these other great personalities are able to see Him. If you have any question on the verses, then you can ask. I did three verses today, if there are any questions on these three verses?
