Timeline of His Holiness Jayapataka Swami's Life - 1991-2000
1997 May 24 - A Travelling Preacher's Diary. by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami. Bangladesh
Dhaka
Here in the Dhaka temple, there are beautiful Rādhā-Govinda and Gaurāṅga Deities on the main altar. Jagannātha Deities on the left altar and Pañca-tattva Deities on the right altar.
After a reception, we had a class on Bhagavad-gītā with over 150 devotees. It had just rained and things had cooled down quite a bit.
I was supposed to fly to North Bengal tomorrow, but somehow my secretaries and the local devotees delayed in making the bookings and I am 17th on the waiting list for a flight with only 40 seats. So it seems totally hopeless. We are renting a micro bus and will be driving.
The problem is the drive is seven hours since midway we have to cross the Padmā river which is very wide. It takes three hours in a ferry boat to get across. During the boat ride I might answer email using my laptop batteries as long as they last. Let's see what hap pens. Due to this problem, I won't be able to give morning class here it seems, I will leave very early and will arrive very late in North Bangladesh. By Lord Gaurāṅga's mercy things may work out, let's see. With me is Jagannivāsa dāsa from Colombia and local devotees.
While crossing the Padmā river we will remember the blessing of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu that offenders of Vaiṣṇavas who bath in this river will get all kinds of bad reactions, but those who not offenders and aspire to pure devotion to Lord Kṛṣṇa, will get love of Godhead! Please forgive me for any offences so that by bathing in the Padmā river I can get love for Godhead!!! In this river, Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura got love of Godhead. Lord Caitanya bathed here as well. Whatever Lord Kṛṣṇa does has some higher design and something good can come even from an apparently negative situation by the Lord's mercy.
I hope that this finds you in good health and blissful in Kṛṣṇa Consciousness.
Your ever well-wisher,
Jayapatākā Swami
