The following is a lecture given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on June 12, 1981 – in Denver, USA. The lecture begins with a reading from Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 4.24.68.

Our whole mood is a mood of service.

So if a devotee sees the G.

B c is representing Prabhupda, the GBC body, if he sees that Prabhupda managerially has established ISkCoN, and then if I see my authority giving me some service, as this is Prabhupda giving me service, then they will be Prabhupāda conscious. To be Kṛṣṇa conscious. If they have some personality difficulty, of course, then they can, you know, go to someone that they can see in that way after some time. But the point is that they should see someone like that. That is the easiest way to be Kṛṣṇa conscious. And of course, they have a big responsibility. Naturally, the new devotees will look up to them for an example. Whether they personally take it upon themselves to teach may depend on their particular service. But definitely they have to teach at least by their example. They have to teach by their example.

And actually they will be looked up to for that example. I know sometimes if an older devotee has any difficulty, a new devotee may say, well, why is an older devotee? Why is having some type of comment is past? See, of course, different people, time is not the only criterion, but the criterion is surrender various other things so that difficulty comes. So that way. The disciples of Śrīla Prabhupāda, they have a responsibility to be a good example, and as much responsibility as they can take to push on the Kansas movement. That is very nice. That would definitely be very pleasing to Śrīla Prabhupāda. They should feel part of one big family of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. I knew there was one devotee, about a nine year old devotee, and would always complain.

He would see how younger devotees are becoming temple presidents and becoming this and that. Why I am not given any responsibility, why he’s getting the Mahā prashada. He gets the milk first, you know, so many like, you know, kind of bitter feeling, you know, and. But although that person himself would not take any responsibility in a real sense, not that he was insincere or a bad devotee, he would chant to attend the program, but his nature was such that, like a heavy pressure for some reason. But then it turned out that when he changed his service a little bit, it was a different type of service. And for some reason, just, it’s like it clicked. And then that same devotee became very enlivened and started to develop so many preaching programs.

He just started taking his mind off what other people are and how many months they have been in the movement and this, and just started taking up his own service, putting his mind in his service. And then you saw wonderful results. And, of course, then also more and more responsibility was given on the basis that he was performing service. I know that india, they put a lot of stress on time. If you’re in the movement longer, they give india, meaning the other gauḍīya Vaishnava, a few of the gorilla machines, they put a stress on time. And of course, that’s vedic, that we always respect the senior vaishnavas. Even Lord Caitanya respected Ram Chandra Kaviraj, because he was the guru’s God brother. Even though he was, practically speaking, rejected by his guru. Still, formerly he would offer some type of respect.

He would not be disrespectful to him. He would not particularly like his association. But if he got just in front of him, he wouldn’t be disrespectful. And so. But in some of these missions, I know that they have a system where exactly which month? Who took initiation? They have it figured out. And if you sit one plate off, then they make you get up and move over. And they’re very much into that. But unfortunately, they’re not into the preaching so much. They’re not into that. So, of course, to a little extent.

We follow more of the principle that.

Chetani Mahbuba said, Jai bhajay Sebodo, that who worships more or who is actively doing the practical service of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, he is great or greater. He is in the superior position that one would be known like the tree is known by its fruits, or one, not just the material results, but actually by the involvement one is personally taking in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. That has been giving a lot more stress. But of course, we follow also the vedic etiquette to be respectful to senior vaishnavas. But naturally, because it’s a preaching movement, and it’s a very active movement. So there will be more focus upon those who are taking more responsibility or being more active in the preaching. It’s just natural. If there’s no preaching, then you have nothing else but to focus upon. Is that seniority or simply so?

Sometimes a new devotee comes up, very enthusiastic and may appear to do more service. Just like today, I was reading in the newspaper, in the plane, there was a little article. I read a few paragraphs about how big top executives are always getting the sack. Now a new executive will come in and a subsidiary company, and he will start working. And his boss will see that his subsidiary company is doing more. Greater sales, greater expansion, and then he will resent it. And so in the end, he will fire the guy. You see, that’s like the material. It’s like politics and business management. So not like that, you know, some new devotees coming up and he may be showing great enthusiasm and dedication so that, of course, the pressure there comes automatically on other devotees. But different devotees may have different capacities.

Everyone should try to work up to their capacity. And time is also the test. Short spurts. People can, you know, come up with some nice results sometimes, but whether they will maintain it, that is also the test of their sincerity. Whether they are doing it on some mental surge or whether deeply the spiritual inspiration is motivating them, that spiritual motivation has to be cultivated. More and more. The mental surges can come and go, but the spiritual drive, that is a permanent, consistent and ever increasing drive. So in the long run, just like sometimes you have cows that give a high milky yield, but then they take a long time to again come into calving. You see, they’re very hard to breathe. So the overall lactation or the amount of milk you get is less than some cows.

They may not give so much milk as a peak, but they give the same amount of milk every day, but practically even until they’re pregnant again, they give the same amount until they’re ready almost to give the next cow. So those cows actually give a higher yield. So we’re, of course, concerned with a more continuous and enduring type of devotion. But if someone gets a sudden surge of enthusiasm and does something very nice, of course we encourage, because that also is necessary, and that will also, we hope, will maintain also at that level, in the enduring way. We shouldn’t feel intimidated if some other devotee is doing very nicely. But that should also be taken, that because of the efforts of all the devotees, the mercy of Kṛṣṇa. Someone may have come just now, but he may have been serving for millions of births.

And we may have come ten years earlier, but we may have only come, you see, after one birth or maybe our first birthday, Kansas. So we can only see now superficial the identification. But who knows that for how long someone is serving. Even some devotees have already died, you know, in different ways in the movement. They may have gone back or even they may have been sent back here. Who knows? That’s another thing, how long someone has been serving and has come into the movement. We don’t know their previous history from previous births. We only know just now. So someone may show some very quick.

Advancement that we will see if that endures.

It may be that they actually have some assets from previous. If it’s just a sudden thing they cannot maintain, we should try to get them to maintain. We should always. The senior older devotees, their position is secure. They’re all going back to Prabhupāda. They’re all going to remain in Prabhupda service eternally. There’s no loss or diminution. The devotional mood is always to push the others up, and by pushing the others up, yourself will automatically pull up. And the material mood is always to try to hold others down, you see, and push yourself up. Just the opposite. And so what happens is that they also sometimes pull you down as the material. But the spiritual, everyone is pushing up. The newer devotees are pushing up, the older devotees are pulling up and pushing up, and everyone is just pushing like that.

And so everything is going up. There’s no energy that’s directed downward. It’s only directed up to Kṛṣṇa. So all the devotees should have that mood. How to increase? If I can increase someone else’s service, Kṛṣṇa will be pleased with me. Some people’s service may be to help others to increase their service. Gorkishwar Das Babaji physically didn’t do a lot of preaching himself, but by his inspiration, he was the greatest preacher because he inspired Bhakti Siddhānta to preach. Yes. Any other questions? Jorge Neguntas suez posa.

Sue esposa.

Wasn’t that your wife that was here this afternoon? No. He has a wife?

No, no.

Who is it?

Looks like another.

Yes.

Her mind looked a little troubled. Mine looked a little like unsettled or something, you know, just like new, kind.

Of new, taking everything in and I am sure.

Other questions. He went into the temple and never came out. I mean, they go to the temple. One day he went in, closed the door, and that was it.

And everything else.

Huh? The deity went into the daily. We opened up. He was.

The farming, wherever it goes. But for me, I was lying.

So gradually they will also see the light. Some will be, will receive before others. But in the end, so many people will have the. Those who are intelligent, they will join fully the movement. When the intelligent people join, then the common people will also become respectful. So as you’re seeing the light, then by your association, others will also see the light. You should try yourself to become a great light. And the more light that you give off, that will dissipate more darkness, that will make more darkness go away. Just like this is adjustable light. So we want that your light will be at maximum. Maximo, that way, then all the darkness around will be gone. So Kṛṣṇa is in your heart. He knows what you want, he knows everything. So if you simply try to serve Kṛṣṇa, he will satisfy all your desires.

You don’t have to make independent plan to be to get Felicidad, to get happy. You don’t have to make a separate plan. You make your plan how to serve Kṛṣṇa and Kṛṣṇa. He will satisfy your desires that you work to maintain your body. Maintaining the body, that doesn’t make one happy, that is not a mistake. You see, the plan they make, they do to make themselves happy. That doesn’t make them happy. That makes people more and more entangled. So the Bodhi, he works what’s necessary to maintain his body, his material life at just a standard, not trying to expand it, whatever comes easily and uses all the excess energy for serving Kṛṣṇa. And simply depends on Kajden giving all the love and affection to Kṛṣṇa. And then Kṛṣṇa, he gives that devotee the happiness that he wants.

If the devotee has material desire, Kṛṣṇa may give them material desire. That’s why that’s dangerous. Because material happiness means also that some danger is there. But Kṛṣṇa gives them material happiness in such a way that one completely is satisfied by that. That means that he realizes that no more desire is left. In such a way, Kṛṣṇa gives. Not that one is going like in Latin America. Sometimes they’re going and crawling on their knees for mother Maria, Mother Mary, and saying, you know, give me my son gets cured from disease or I get some money and like that. Then again, the next year, again they come and ask for some other thing, right? Every time they’re bothering. So Kṛṣṇa, he wants to give one time, you see, bonanza, everything. And he knows how to give in such a way, completely. One is satisfied.

Then one is thinking, actually, this. This is not really what I want. I want pure Kṛṣṇa Khan. That mood will come anyway. One’s material desire. If he has that desire, Kṛṣṇa will satisfy. So devotees, they try to avoid that type of desire. Even they don’t want Kṛṣṇa to satisfy their material desire. They want rather to just have desire for pure Kṛṣṇa consciousness. But whatever one desire may have, one should still simply serve Kṛṣṇa and depend on him. And for one material necessity, that one should do whatever comes easy, not make a big, passionate endeavor to become materially a success more than what is within one’s normal endeavor.

Translation with repetition text 68 chapter 24.

Canthal four my dear Lord, all actually learned persons know you as the supreme Brahman and the super soul. Although the entire universe although the entire universe is afraid of Lord Rudra, who ultimately annihilates everything for the learned devotees, you are the fearless destination. You are the fearless destination of all. Report by Śrīla Prabhupāda for the purpose of creation, the maintenance and annihilation of this cosmic manifestation, there are three lords, Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. Mahisbhara the material body is finished at the time of annihilation. Both the universal body and the small unit, the individual living entity’s body, are susceptible to annihilation at the ultimate end. However, the devotee do not fear the annihilation of the body, for they are confident that after the annihilation they will go back home, back to Godhead.

If one strictly follows the process of devotional service, he has no fear of death, but he is predestined to go back home, back to Godhead. Non devotees are fearful of death because they have no guarantee of where they are going or of the type of body they are going to get in their next life. The word rudra huaya is significant in this verse because Rudra himself, Vojiva speaking of fear of rudra. This indicates there are many rudras, eleven rudras, and the Rudra lord Shiva, who is offering this prayer to the supreme personality of God and is different from the other rudras, although he is as powerful as they are. The conclusion is that one rudra is afraid of another rudra because each and every one of them is engaged in the destruction of this cosmic manifestation.

But for the devotee, everyone is afraid of the even Rudra himself. A devotee is never afraid of Rudra because he is always secure being protected by the lotus feet of the Lord, as Sikṛṣṇa says in Bhagavad Gītā 931 my dear Arjuna, you may declare publicly that my impure devotion will not be vanquished under any circumstances. Thus, in the purport of text 68 chapter 24 canto four of the Seema Bhāgavatam purports by Shela Farah Lord Vaishnava Namjata Sambhu.

Is the greatest, is the greatest Vaishnav.

At the same time, he has different.

Forms and different moods. One of his moods is to be the greatest vaishya.

Here we are seeing that mood displayed. Lord Shiva is glorifying Vishnu and glorifying Vishnu’s devotees. Of course, Lord Shiva himself is a devotee of Vishnu.

We know that in this Śiva Bhāgavatam.

10Th canto, the Dwaraka Leela is that there was the demon Banasur who had.

A thousand arms, who was very dear.

To Lord Shiva because with his thousand arms he was leading under Dim Dhimma, different other type of drought for Lord Shiva’s pleasure. And Lord Shiva would dance while Banasua would be playing all this drama. Banasur is the believe the grandson of.

Bali, Maharashtra grandson or the son, which.

Would mean a great grandson of lord.

So of course, Balnasur was a demon.

He wanted to fight. So ultimately there was a fight between Manasur and Lord Kṛṣṇa.

He was over Anirudh.

Anirudha.

Anirudha Usha was Banasur’s daughter.

Because Usha, the daughter of Banasur had developed.

Deep attractions for Animuta even before meeting him.

And with Manassur.

There was one Chitra.

Leka, companion of Usha, who was able to bring Anirudha, the son of Kṛṣṇa, to the palace into the private quarters where no man was ever allowed.

And there, of course, Ushaf and Aniuda.

They were remaining together.

Ban Asur found them there.

Being very shocked.

He tried to capture Amirudha, who fought valiantly and practically escaped until at the.

Last minute he was captured by unfair means, overpowered.

So Kṛṣṇa, he attacked ManAsur capital to release Anirudha.

Anirudha being Ka’s son, Kṛṣṇa’s devotee. So he was being protected by Kṛṣṇa. So when Kṛṣṇa personally came with his armies to fight against the Mandev Manassur, he came out and he also prayed to Lord Shiva. So Lord Shiva came with other Lord Shiva’s son, like Anapati Artikaya. And there was a big huge battle. So they paired off and fought against different generals in this way, Kṛṣṇa and Lord Shiva, they were fighting.

And we know that.

Finally in Nevada, Lord Shiva released his Shiva dwar weapon. And Kṛṣṇa released the nayana dwarf Vishnu weapon. And the two weapons, they, when they met, the Shiva dwar weapon was intense heat. Burn everything. But the Narayan dwara was intense cold. So when the two came together, then gradually the heat of Lord Shiva dwar weapon was reduced. And he was seeing that he was about to be finished. So he started. He realized that Lord Śiva could not protect him. He started to pray to Vishnu. He had to pray to Vishnu for his deliverance. Lord Shiva. Of course, sometimes his worship india as some independent demigod or as a supreme lord. Even by some foolish people. Lord Śiva himself does not condone that. Just like in that battle. Then Kṛṣṇa cut off all the arms upon us who are unless simply four.

Lord Shiva had to pray that lord, please spare this devotee. He has done some nice service. Therefore I don’t want to see him destroyed.

Gosh.

He had to pray for his own devotee. Bhagavad Gītā says, you worship the demigod. He does not give you what you want unless he has a sanction of Kṛṣṇa. So here, practically it was demonstrated Lord Shiva had to appeal for the life.

Of course.

Kṛṣṇa says that Maharashtra is the son of my devotee Maharaj. How will I kill him? So I left four arms. Because being the son of Bali Maharaj, he’s already going to achieve liberation. So he can have bombs.

He should not do any more of this mischief.

So then of course, Usha and Aniudawar.

Returned.

Marriage.

Tribal marriage was performed.

Lord Kṛṣṇa is of course the supreme personality of God. Him, he’s coming down. And the ordinary people and the demons particularly they don’t recognize Kṛṣṇa. Only the very rare people can recognize Kṛṣṇa. They recognize him dislike. When Kṛṣṇa entered into the arena and Mathurā, those who were the paramātmā yogis they saw there was Paramātmā himself. Those who were the young girls they saw. Here’s the most beautiful cupid. Those who were the great kings of the Vishnu dynasty said, here is our protector. Those who were the pure devotees could understand. Here is our eternal master. The supreme personality and guidance in Kṛṣṇa. Wow. Devo ki Nanda Jasura. So here is our dear Kṛṣṇa, our beloved son. The rest is Chanora Mustika. They saw Kṛṣṇa and said, here is the great, powerful, restful warrior, most dangerous.

Although they were just appearing like young boys, they could understand they’re very harmful. And Hamsha saw here’s personified death. Come to devour me. Everyone saw Kṛṣṇa according to their Jata Mang prapanga, Tehran, Vajravana. According to their realization, they saw Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa is recovered from the view of his non devotees by the Yoga Māyā. Mahā Māyā Mahamaya covers the demas. They think that Kṛṣṇa is able to be destroyed. And of course they try to destroy Kṛṣṇa. They destroy themselves. But the demons, they are very afraid of voice Shiva, the very afraid of Lord Shiva. Kṛṣṇa has somehow, by his mystic opulence so kindly expanded himself as Lord Shiva and mother Pārvatī. And although the demons are unimportable to Kṛṣṇa. They are worshipping mother Pārvatī and Mahatma. More material benedictions.

So in this way Kṛṣṇa is engaged.

Even the deepest demons as well as the demigods. Everyone in some form or another are worshipped. In the vedic time there was no one who was an absolutely devoid of.

Worshipping some deity or other.

Hardly any. I don’t.

Except maybe for this. Who is that one?

Charba.

Maybe he was an exception.

But basically 99.9% everyone either. They are the daemons. They worship Shiva and Harvard. If they were the Ramanas and Vaishnavas, the demigod, you would worship.

Someone who.

Is not a worshiper of Ishnu.

He’s a demon.

But of course the. They have no children. Neither they worship Vishnu, neither they worship Ludra. All they are worshipping is their thing.

Balanced, simply, practically reduced.

Below him, Naguman Sarudra. He is feared both by the demigods, by the demon and respected by them in God, by humans.

By everyone, both.

Feared and respected except the devotees. They’re not afraid of Lord Shiva. They’re not afraid of Lord Shiva because.

They are under the protection of Kṛṣṇa.

We hear the story about manas worship. What is are a reason to fear anyone. The devotee is neither afraid of one Rudra nor afraid of anything in this world. But the devotee is afraid of being attached to this material, the world to be attracted to material sense gratification.

That.

Makes the devotee very afraid of it is that fear which pulls a devotee to Kṛṣṇa. There was analogy given in the.

Bhāgavata.

That Kṛṣṇa, he was the object of complete fear of Kamksha. KAMSHA was always afraid of Kṛṣṇa eating, sleeping, drinking, while going to the bathroom, while walking in the street. Whatever he was doing, he was always absorbed. Kṛṣṇa any moment will come and kill me. Kṛṣṇa, he was completely absorbed. So Kaṁsa symbolized the materialistic fear. Fear means fear of death. Ultimately, they’re always afraid of dying. Kṛṣṇa represented to Kaṁsa, ultimately his death. So the living entities in this material world are always afraid. But Kṛṣṇa to his devotees is a symbol of protection. To Devakī and Vasudeva, Kṛṣṇa was whole. So the demons, they are afraid of Kṛṣṇa. But the devotees, they are not afraid of Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa is their protection. But the devotees are afraid of Kansas. Kansas cruelty. Kang says cruelty.

What the devotees are afraid of is the material nature that somehow if I.

Get attracted to the material nature and.

Stop worshiping Kṛṣṇa, that fear that they.

Always have.

That fear, just like the fear that Devakī felt for Kaṁsa.

That fear brings one to Christian.

Fear of the material world brings more to. So similarly, devotee is not afraid of anything.

But it’s afraid of somehow or another forgetting the lotus.

Somehow or another being distracted by Māyā. Just like sometimes demons, when they say devotees or see Kṛṣṇa.

Conscious anything. They start screaming and run away. Or make some.

Because they are afraid of being attracted.

To Kṛṣṇa.

In so many ways.

Sometimes people, when they just come, they become pretty afraid. Because they see they are becoming attracted to Kṛṣṇa. They don’t know how to accommodate.

So they get afraid.

Due to their attachment to Māyā. They are afraid somehow they are going to lose out on something.

They are going to miss some sense gratification.

Not realizing that the sense gratification is what is actually causing them so much pain. Similarly, it is the opposite. The devotee is attractive to Christianity. Devotee is afraid of being attracted to Samsung. The material world is very powerful. But of course, the devotee can become fearless simply by fully bringing to the.

Lotus feet of Kṛṣṇa.

Bring him to the lotus feet of Nithai Gore. Who doesn’t become falsely proud. Because Māyā is always there to grab him up.

Get you.

Lord Shiva was dancing and dancing, chanting Sankirchak with his associates.

When he met Vishnu.

Vishnu Swami, he was also one time. There’s another place in Madhya Dwi. Madhya for Lord Shiva. He is always there. Instead of riding on his bull, he rides on another carrier, maybe riding on a swan. And there with his associates, he worshiping. That is not different from Koelash.

Excuse me.

From Kashmir. In the sacred land of Maudi. Sometimes devotees worship Lord Shiva.

And he directs them go to Kṛṣṇa.

Just like the sons. They approach Lord Shiva. And he is directing them to worship Kṛṣṇa. Worship the devotees of Vishnu. When Lord of Pārvatī asks, there are so many types of worship. Which worship is the best? What worship should we focus on? What did Lord Shiva say? That Vishnu worship is the topmost. But my dear Devī, my dear demigoddess, more important, more dear even than worshipping VIshnu is worshipping TodyANA. Those things connected with Kṛṣṇa, connected with Vishnu. Just like we worship MAhaPrAsar, we worship BrAhmaNas, DeVais, Nanas, the holy name, the holy Dove, the books connected with Kṛṣṇa. Because These are all transcendental. And by worshipping these nearmost objects, personages which are in connection with Kṛṣṇa. That is more pleasing to Kṛṣṇa, that is more pleasing to Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa is always having a competition with his devotees.

The devotees are always directing all the worship to Kṛṣṇa. But Kṛṣṇa is always trying to make his devotees glorified. So if the devotee gets a little success. He should not think, oh, now I have been successful, now I am really great. Become proud that one should think that, because I am simply trying to glorify Kṛṣṇa. Now Kṛṣṇa, he is trying to glorify me, but I will not, you see, become fool that I am actually glorifying. Actually this is simply being done by Kṛṣṇa. Somehow or another he is doing this. Sometimes people work very hard.

And then.

In working really hard, sometimes their name is in the Sankirtan Muslim. And of course they feel nice about that, nothing wrong with it. But then they see they cant maintain the same standard of service. For some reason or another, the name doesnt make the charts. And then they start to feel some anxiety. So sometimes some other type of moods.

Of course, get mixed up there. So the way that one can protect.

Oneself from getting off the chart and from becoming affected is to never think for a moment that apart from the mercy of my spiritual master and Guru Gorango, Lord Caitanya Mahabud, there’s no other reason. Because even if we have a desiree to do some service, and we do that service, where has that desire come from? That has come from the causal mercy of our spiritual master. If he did not give the seed of that desire, if he did not bless us with that enthusiasm, how would it come? We were writing in the material world, what desire we had to serve Kaanaktivanindasya Ganakana.

(Side B of the Cassette)

Firstly, what would we have seen? So if we are at all desirous of performing any service, then we should also be simply surrendering and praying for that opportunity. And if then we are successful, we should not allow our mind, who is by nature flickering and devious to delude us into thinking that somehow, independently we are responsible. Somehow we may have had some desire that much credit maybe there. Somehow or another some desire might have been there. And this desire has the mercy of spiritual master has created everything. But from that desiree, that desire alone was not enough. The desire is only half of it. Then beyond that desire, everything else is.

The mercy of spiritual master and Kṛṣṇa.

All we can do is desire. The ability to actually perform devotional service.

That is, by mercy.

Guru and Kṛṣṇa, the ability to desire more and more. We have some beginning desire, some spark, something which also may be traced to some causeless mercy of some vaishnava or Kṛṣṇa. How that desire began that if we can trace back, someone may have one time also given us some mercy. Desiree, if this person Kamathirastu could simply be attracted to Kṛṣṇa, even our desire originally was given, no doubt by some devotee or some mercy of the lord. But even if there’s some spark, desire was there. But beyond that then Kṛṣṇa led us to spiritual master, to devotees and their preaching and instruction further inspired. So all we have to do is keep on maintaining that desire. We have to remain plugged in to king and plugged out of Māyā. That much independence we have, that much desire or will power we have to maintain.

But if we are able to do something, of course, all we can say that somehow I have been plugged in, I am staying plugged in, I am continuing to try. I am not giving up trying to follow.

The order of spiritual master.

Whatever success it achieved in so doing.

That is the mercy of Guru and Kṛṣṇa. That devotee always thinks.

So.

In this way one need not become deviated because then what happens?

Of course, one somehow feels himself independently responsible, proud.

And then one can be a.

He.

Forgets about Kṛṣṇa at that time. Instead of Kṛṣṇa being the object, Kṛṣṇa being the person who we are giving pleasure to, then we are enjoying ourselves.

Our activities we give.

Whatever we offer.

Whatever we give in charity, whatever we.

Eat, everything we offer as an offering to Kṛṣṇa. So similarly, whatever service we do, whatever.

Success we achieve, whatever it happens we offer to Kṛṣṇa.

We are simply proposing, let this service be done. And then after that, Guru and Kṛṣṇa.

They are giving mercy. And of course we are requesting further and further mercy and purification. So we can see properly what is to be done, so we can enthusiastically serve. And by their mercy, those benedictions are being given how one can think oneself believes. Master, of course, Kṛṣṇa is saying yes. What is devotion, strengths of heart, spiritual master of Kṛṣṇa.

Kṛṣṇa appreciates but the devotee.

He should himself humbly avoid thinking himself any more than pretty fortunate to receive.

The mercy of Kṛṣṇa.

We become infatuated easily by different things. Lord Brahma.

He became infatuated by being the Lord Brahma. So much so that he stole Kṛṣṇa’s cows, Kṛṣṇa’s cowherders and shoved him in a cave. And he went away. Then he realized, what am I doing? What has happened? And he ran back. And there he saw Kṛṣṇa. But the cowherders and the cows were still there. He said, I have stolen them. How are they? The earth. They were there. He looked back in the cave. No, they’re in the cave. But now they’re here. But now they’re in the cave. How is this? What’s happening? My head is spinning. Everything’s getting confused. What’s happening? And then Kṛṣṇa starts expanding from each one of those cowrie boys. The unlimited Nārāyaṇa’s forehand in form, the Vishnu. And around the Vishnu, all the gandharvas, the four Kumar’s, Lord Naradamuni, they’re all starting to offer their prayers. The material elements are coming.

And they’re rotating around and offering in and out and offering their worship. And he’s seeing all these manifestations of unlimited opulence coming from the body of Kṛṣṇa and all the coward boys who are none other than Ka’s expansions. And he falls down like a stick on the ground. And he offers his obeisances to Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa. That I am your devotee. I am your devotee, your surrender soul. Somehow or another I have mistaken who you are. Recognized. I have committed a grave offense.

Please forgive me.

And of course, Kṛṣṇa forgave him. Kṛṣṇa forgave him. Cowherd voice. Cows were returned. And Lord Brahma, he laughed. And what did Lord Brahma think? How foolish am I? Look at. Here is Kṛṣṇa. These beautiful cowher boys, they’re playing with Kṛṣṇa as a friend. I am stuck as a Brahma with a big post. And foolish if I can only be a friend like this, playing with Kṛṣṇa. How fortunate. What type of karma, what type of activity, what type of sacrifice should they perform to reach this exalted position? In this way, Brahma went. And he was thinking, I am so offensive due to my position. I get puffed up. I forget who I am and I commit offense to Kṛṣṇa. And he went to Nawaddeep daab. And there at Umtar Dva, the island of full surrender. Complete surrender. He worships the Kṛṣṇa chaitanya Mahāprabhu.

He go, Rango. Hey, golden avatar. And he was worshiping there. And the dark purdue. And finally Caitan Yamaha appeared to him. And he fell down on his lotus feet. He jumped up in ecstasy round the haribo. And again he fell down. Who had ever seen such a beautiful form? Effulgence on all sides. The golden body of Cj. Tanya Mahabhu. With the luster of Sima Dhirani. Eyes long like lotus, coming back to his ears almost. His arms going down to his knees. His broad chest in thin waist thin like a lion. And the garland hanging down to his knees. With the bumblebees flying around, attracted by its nectarine scent. With his smiling face. Chitanya Mahabrabhu, accompanied by so many associates, all filled with transcendental qualities. Benedict. Lord Brahma, that. What do you want? Lord Brahma? He prayed. My dear Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu.

I am your eternal servant. I have worshiped you here because you are the forgiver of all offenses. You are the most merciful. Lord, I am by nature very proud of my position as a Brahma. So much so that I sit, commit offense at your lotus feet. At your lotus feet of secret shock. So please, I am playing unto your lotus feet. Give me this benediction. That I may become your associate, that I may simply serve you. And that in this friendly service, in this eternal relationship. That I understand you are going to come very soon here, the Kali yuga. That I may take part. And that I become purified from all this false ego. That I may not become affected by being a Brahma. That I may worship you. And at least the remainder of my life. I may never forget your lotus feet.

And in pure devotional service, I may remain. Please have his mercy upon me, Lord Jaitanya. Bless him. So be it. You shall appear in the family of Muhammadans. You will come down and be my associate. And you will appear as a Muhammadan. That way, this will take away your false prestige of being a Brahma. But you will constantly chant 300,000 times every day, the hare Kṛṣṇa Muhammad. And you will be preaching. You will be the Nama Acharya in my movement when I come. And you will be my associates. Your name will be Haridas and London. The devotees will respect you as Takur or as advanced, exalted Vaishnava. And when you leave your body, I will be personally present.

And Lord Chaitanya then disappeared.

Before disappearing, he said, and by your chanting three lakhs of names, 300,000 names every day, this sacrifice will give you enough, Sukriti, that the rest of your life, which is at least about 50 years, by Brahma’s calculation left you will not fall.

Out of the position of your devotional service.

Many this day fell down and took the dust from where Lord Caitanya Prabhu was standing. And we turned back to Brahma Loka, finishing up all the business that was.

Remaining during his absence, and preparing everything.

For his coming down in the Kaliyuga to be Haridas Thakur Brahma Haridas to associate and assist Caitanya Mahabharata movement. Even Lord Brahma, you see, he becomes affected by Buddhism, by little politic successes.

And by different situations.

But he took shelter of nobody Dham. He took shelter of Caitanya Mahāprabhu, and by the mercy of Caitanya Mahabharmu, he was able to transcend all of these things. Similarly, we should also take the shelter of the die of Gorango, by whose mercy the vaishnavas are protected from all.

Type of contamination and material association, by.

Whose mercy spontaneous love, spontaneous devotion, and the following in the footsteps of the residents of Vrindavana, all type of benediction are received. So their cause, this mercy, is inconceivable. They deliver all these fallen souls. Whoever was there, they delivered everyone.

That is their mercy.

That is their kindness. There’s no one so fallen. Caitanya mama’s mercy cannot deliver him. There’s no one so sinful that Lord Caitanya’s mercy cannot deliver him.

I was told by one of our.

Sankirtan devotees how there was one.

Big guard outside of one store where he was doing Sankirta. And as soon as he would come.

Too close to the door of the.

Store, the guard would take the book.

And rip it up.

The guard would tell it, go and break the sale up. He had to stay away.

Black bodied guard, and they were very inimical. But he was doing Shankirta there for about three, four months, day after day, just down the way a little bit.

Stay away from the door.

So during the Christmas marathon, they were.

Doing some distribution of bliss bars or some kind of prashadam like that. This is in America, one of our Sankirtan devotees that were distributed before, and.

He could see that person was, by this time, every time he was telling the people, don’t buy this Hare Kṛṣṇa. By this time, he saw that there.

Was he saw him looking at the pursharam.

So he just said, gave him one. Just try it. Don’t. I gave it.

Walked away. The person wouldn’t get uptight. Took it.

Started to eat it, came back out. Hey, that’s good. Give me another one. Every day, start giving him two, three. You know, blars and prasada. And that same very inimical person. He helped. He helped the people. He said he was a good people. You can get a book from.

It’s all right.

He was helping mister. So there’s no one who’s so even offensive, so inimical or so sinful who cannot be delivered by the mercy of Jesus. Therefore, they don’t fear anyone. Even someone who’s inimical, even someone who’s a demon. He can eventually also be delivered by the mercy of Caitanya Mahabhar. We may take some immediate steps of defense. We won’t allow anyone just like Chaitanya Mahab wouldn’t allow Jagay madhai. You see, to get away free. He was completely prepared to destroy them for beating on Nithyananda. But of course, by Nithyananda’s mercy, they were also delivered. The devotee will always defend another devotee, no doubt at the time of some attack. But apart from that, even someone who’s so an invaluable attacker, he can also be delivered. And if there’s anyone who can, then of course, they’re the most unfortunate. They’re the most unfortunate.

If someone misses getting the mercy of.

Caitanya Mahāprabhu, it’s very unfortunate.

So we should take this opportunity of being human beings here now present on the planet. Just after Chetanya Mahāprabhu has come. His movement now is expanding day by day all over the movement. So many people, day by day are.

Taking shelter of this movement.

Getting Śrīla Pha’s literatures and reading. We should take advantage of having the association of devotees and completely fixing our mind on the lotus feet of Guru Bharaga. Clinging, not letting go for a second, very much afraid of letting go in this way, very quickly all the impurities shall be annihilated and we will attain the fearless position that Lord Shiva Lord Rudra Dev here has glorified. Everyone is hanking for that fearless position.

In this material world. But no one is fearless.

The only fearless person, only peaceful person is the pure devotee of Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa Bhakta mukti Siddhi kami sakhali. Gosh. Kṛṣṇa devotee is peaceful because he is desireless. His only desire is to please Guru and Kṛṣṇa. But bhukti may materialistic, lusty people Mukti, those desiring liberation in Siddhi, those who are desiring the mystic opulences of mystic powers, they’re all you see agītāted. They’re all unpeaceful at the bottom line. Siddhana Muktara mabi Siddhana Nārāyaṇa Parayanamdehdeh.

Out.

Of millions and millions of liberated souls, mystic perfected souls, it is rare to find one pure devotee of Kṛṣṇa and the quality of a pure devotee for Śānta Ātmā, completely satisfied and ecstatically situated in love for God.

And.

Those pure devotees giving this most rare thing really is giving it out to anyone who wants to pay the simple price of a little faith, a little desiree who has brought the mercy of the Taigur to the whole world. Glory is to his devotees who are.

Preaching and expanding that mercy everywhere. There.

Any questions?

Yes.

So while engaging christian consciousness, sometimes we are definitely material, so we are not pure actions.

You see, it’s like Shah Prabhupāda said that everyone in the movement is a pure devotee in one way, just like an apple.

Whether it’s a green apple or whether it’s a ripe apple.

An apple is an apple.

Green apple stays on the tree. It turns right. So if a person desires desire.

The.

Person’S will is there to be completely pure to satisfy Kṛṣṇa, even though he understands that his mind has got these desires, but he does not identify with those desires. So whatever desire comes off, he either rejects it or dovetails it. And so that dovetailing process is part of the ripening of the green apple. So that means that so long as one desires to be a pure devotee and acts accordingly, then in fact, he.

Is also considered a pure devotee in the unripe stage.

And what he is doing does not.

Earn him any karma. But that is considered to be also transcendental.

But one should be very careful not.

To take it upon oneself to decide.

What type of thing should be done. It should be always authorized. Because sometimes we find the votes, as.

You mentioned in the Chetanya charitable, they might want to doubt the Elsa through it work.

And the danger is that even we give up the desire for fruitive activity.

Like sometimes they want to open up some independent business, and if they’re not careful, they can again start to see profit loss. They can start to see different type of distinctions and again get wound up. So once you stay as close as possible to the activities that are related with pure devotional service and with the preaching of this movement. And when they do something, it should be authorized by the spiritual masters representatives. This will help one to control his mind and to cross over these difficulties. Actually, when one is associated well, still situated, and he is, therefore, he’s not responsible himself. He’s thinking that he’s following the spiritual master. Therefore, spiritual master is responsible.

That means that he’s Kṛṣṇa conscious.

Spiritual master’s representative of Kṛṣṇa. She is the only one who’s responsible for his karma. When he is doing it on his.

Own.

Then the risk is there that if it is not a Kṛṣṇa conscious activity, if it is not perfectly dovetailed, but it is a whimsical activity, then he will be responsible so long as it is authorized dovetailing, then where is the question? Whatever ones propensity that is used. Kṛṣṇa didnt tell Arjuna that are a king now you should give it up and become a beggar. Rather, he said, no, you should be a king, but dovetail it be a king for me. You make the people Kṛṣṇa conscious, you rule them properly. In fact, even after he gave the same benediction to Dhruva Maharaj, no, for 36,000 years, you have to be a king. He didn’t even want to be a king, but before he had a desire.

Then Kṛṣṇa made him.

So. By dovetailing, that means that the last trace of desire is destroyed. But dovetailing, that should be authorized. Because the only danger in dovetailing is if it’s a whimsical action. And when they whimsically think, well, I will.

Do this for Kṛṣṇa, and when it’s.

Not actually beneficial, it’s not the desired.

By mission or by his representative.

Therefore, it’s not desired by his representative. So then one is ultimately not really dovetail. If a glass of milk spiritual master asked for water, I will give him the milk.

And milk is better that tables have changed, I want water.

When man proposes, God disposes, we propose what we want to do. If we get them to sanction, we’re not responsible, as long as we are not misrepresenting anything. Is that all right? Anything else?

How does it most actually understand exactly what you should bring?

Should have robot always set the standard that one should be responsible.

He always valued it more.

When a person stuck to a particular service, you’re not just whimsically changed. At the same time, if there was an actual opportunity for expanding the service, for increasing one responsibility, one’s commitment to Kṛṣṇa consciousness, one’s total amount of service, and of course sanction it. But whatever standard a person reaches. Prabhupāda would never rest when they wanted to. He would not have approved if they wanted to reduce that, unless it was a question that they were among the group and it was better than nothing. But his always aim was to maintain, at least maintain. And if you can expand very well, very nice, at least maintain the standard, and then if you can expand it. Sometimes devotees, they ask these questions, but their ultimate result is they reduce their service. Obviously, it was something, just not a mental plan.

We take our service is like our link. It’s like the wire which is attaching us with our spiritual master. It’s our meditation, it’s our samadhi. We take the service and we perform it. We know that these different services in managing temples and preaching and distributing books, building temples and Holy Dao and so on and so forth, that these are all authorized things that Śrīla Prabhupāda holds very dear. Devotee. I have been a devotee for so long. I have been doing the same service. Maybe I should go out and get a job or something. It just doesn’t make any sense. One can maintain that is also glorious. This age is also very difficult even to maintain. There’s no losses for that. And if one can expand, you see, then that’s, of course, that’s very nice.

So expanding doesn’t mean that one has to change one’s service, but it may also be internal, perfecting the mood, protecting the quality of the service. There are so many stones unturned. We have a center in Denver somewhere. I have to open up another center somewhere else. But actually here there’s half a million people around here. There’s so many millions of people who are not individual Kṛṣṇa consciousness, who are very friendly.

There are so many ways to engage them.

To make a very strong community of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. So sometimes if we get too thinned out, things do not develop.

In a.

Broad dimensional basis, but they more or less develop thin out on the same level. So now is the time to create very create strongholds of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. So many favorable people, different programs for involving the people, making them Kṛṣṇa consciousness festivals, cultivation programs, prashad distribution, of course, book distribution is the basis. So many services to be done. These are all just the agītātions of the mind. Śrīla Bhopha made the Kṛṣṇa conscious movement as much for his disciples and for future disciples in the years to come, that they should all work together and that they should try to establish a Kṛṣṇa consciousness world. Śrīla Prabhupāda said, if you want something material for your service. Nice facility or you want some kind.

Of nice accommodation or anything.

You get that. But you may not get Kṛṣṇa. If that’s what you really want. You will get there. You won’t get Kṛṣṇa.

Sometimes you hear devotees say, oh, I worked for eight years. What have I got?

Don’t have a color tv.

Don’t have a. Don’t have a porsche. Don’t have a big apartment or a big house.

What did I get out of eight.

Years waving in this movement?

All I got was chance to get.

Out of this material world eternally.

Pure love of God.

People are so foolish.

How Māyā has stolen their intelligence.

Must have committed some grave offense or some, some offense.

They must.

How they have lost their intelligence like that. So foolish.

And some of those people, they get their biggest.

They get their big car. They come back and say their wife runs away from them. Some other biker, whatever.

They come back and say it was.

All, you see, Monorail. I was carried away by my mind.

Some of them, they go out and.

They don’t get the big car. They don’t get the big. They go out and they completely. They fall. You see them, they’re so low that you don’t know if there’s any lower.

Than they can go.

And it’s all such a pity. Why? Because somehow they’re just being so foolish. So at least if they don’t offend Prabhupāda. Then they will again get chance in their future life.

If they don’t directly blast devotees in.

This life or in the future life. We should not be tricked by Māyā.

There’s so many subtle minds.

So as one makes advancement and the grocer miles get peeled off. Just like sometimes you get those gifts. They give you the big box and you open it up, there’s another little box. You open it up. In the center there’s a little piece of paper and happy birthday or something. So our Mayas are like, you take off one māyā. We say, oh, there’s so many more Mayas. It seems the more we serve, the.

More Māyā there is.

No, it’s just that the Mayans get subtler and subtler. We pull out the gross ones and uncover. But finally, in the middle, it’s not a happy birthday. But there’s a jewel. That’s the jewel of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. So it’s there. It’s there and it’s purity. We have to take off these covers. We shouldn’t think, oh, just because we’re.

Getting closer and closer.

And then today we will reach the joke that you will.
