16 Dec 2010|Duration: 00:07:19|English|Public Address|Śrī Māyāpur, India

20101216 H.H.Jayapatākā Swāmi Mahārāja gave a talk at the SMIS School. [360p]

Gurumahārāja: How did you all have fun today? Did you have fun?

Ok. Krishna also, when he was a child, he played various games in the forest. Sometimes a tug of war, sometimes wrestling, swimming, different games. So, in that spirit, we hope that the students also, they also, have this competition, and the thought is, ... really just to... we all want to be healthy and strong. So, ... should have a nice... gentleman and gentle ladies for the sports.... this is important.

Some time Krishna also won, and sometimes He lost. That was a līlā. So, it doesn't matter in one sense... what is most important is that we are very much close to all the others, and we have a chance to play together and to have a competition together. So, being in Māyāpur Dham, this place is non-different from Vrindavan. So, here also Lord Caitanya, he went to school and he studied. He was... of course he was... always He knew how to study. In one day he learned all the Bengali alphabets, and second day all the...what you call the jugta ashar; that means the joint letters.

Normally this takes one year. He learned in one day because He is Krishna. So...  But anyway, he also went to school, and he was very, in fact he was very angry because his father wont send at first to school, and then he wanted to go.

And so he stood on some garbage pile, and his mother said, "You are a grown up boy. You should know. Why you are standing on a garbage?" He said, "I am uneducated. I don't know what is garbage, what is not, I don't know what is suchi or what is asuchi, I don't know anything, I am uneducated, you don't send me to school." So, like this, his forced his parents that... "ok, ok, I have to send him to school." So, that was Lord Caitanya's līlā. One day he was coming from school with Jagadānanda Pandit, his friend, and he saw one parrot in the orchard. So, he said to the parrot, "Please chant. You are non different from Sukadeva Goswami. So, please chant, "Rādhā Krishna."

But the parrot chanted,

Gaura Gaura ........................................ [repeated by devotees]

Gaura Gaura ........................................ [repeated by devotees]

Gaura Gaura ........................................ [repeated by devotees]

But Lord Gaurāṅga said, "No, no, no, I don't want to hear this. You are non-different from Sukhadev. You should chant,

Rādhā Kṛṣṇa...........................................[repeated by devotees]

But the parrot again chanted,

Gaura Gaura ........................................ [repeated by devotees]

Gaura Gaura ........................................ [repeated by devotees]

Gaura Gaura ........................................ [repeated by devotees]

Gaura Gaura ........................................ [repeated by devotees]

Lord Caitanya covered his eyes, "No, no, no. This place is non different from Vrindavan. So, chant the names of

Rādhā Krishna........................................[repeated by devotees]

The parrot said, "This place is certainly non-different from Vṛndāvana. This is Māyāpur Dham, but here Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa have combined together to form Gaurāṅga. So, I like to chant Rādhā Kṛṣṇa in my way. You chant however you want. I will chant in my way,

Gaura Gaura ........................................ [repeated by devotees]

Gaura Gaura ........................................ [repeated by devotees]

Gaura Gaura ........................................ [repeated by devotees]

So, when Lord Caitanya, he heard, he said, "No, no." but Jagadānanda, he knew that this is a pastime. So, being here in Nabadwip is non-different from Vrindavan.

Gaura Maṇḍala bhūmi je ba jāni cintāmaṇi

tar haya Vraja bhūmi vāsa

So, by your living here. By your doing this sports, you are also getting, every step is more than a aswamedha yajña, it's a very healthy step. So, we are very happy to see how the students are playing, and then having their sports day, and I hope that other times you are also studying, and the idea is that you use your nice and healthy bodies, you use your happy mind for serving Krishna in the future.

Haribol............................................[repeated by devotees]

So, I don't want to speak too long, there is Jananivas prabhu. I want to thank all the students for participating, all the ex-graduate students, and all the parents and all the teachers for organizing such a nice competition.
