20201120 Medinipur Nāmahaṭṭa Initiation

The following is a Medinipur Nāmahaṭṭa initiation ceremony by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on November 20th, 2020 in Śrī Dhāma Māyāpur, India.

mūkaṁ mūkhaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī gurum dina tarinam
paramānanda mādhavaṁ śrī caitanya īśvaram
Hari oṁ tat sat!

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya desired that in Kali-yuga everyone should chant the holy name in kīrtana. Every yuga had a particular yajña. In Satya-yuga meditation, Tretā-yuga sacrifices, Dvāpara-yuga was worshiping Kṛṣṇa in the temple and now in Kali-yuga we don’t have the right to do any of these. But Kṛṣṇa came in the form of His name and in that name are present various energies of Lord Kṛṣṇa. In the Śikṣāṣṭaka, Lord Caitanya had said, nām-nām akāri bahudhā nija-sarva-śaktis, all the energies of the Lord are present in His name. So, you should chant at least 25,0000 names or 16 rounds of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra. That way, you can remember the Lord all the time. And never forget the Lord. Gaurāṅga Prema Swami was saying yesterday, acāra and pracāra. Following and preaching. Some follow but do not preach. Some preach but do not follow. Now, we need both, follow and preach. Now, Lord Caitanya’s in His prediction had said,

pṛthvite āche yata nagarādi grāma
sarvatra pracāra haibe more nāma.

Now Śrīla Prabhupāda, he went to the Western world. Your responsibility is that you should preach the holy names to all your neighboring towns and villages. So that everyone chants the name of Kṛṣṇa. In this Kali-yuga presently the pandemic is going on. Because the humans are killing animals and eating. because of this the human beings are suffering.

One of my disciples in Haldia, Medinipur died because of COVID. So we have to on the one hand be careful. But on the other hand, if everyone can chant the name of Kṛṣṇa that will be good. Some preach via the internet, some physically preach. When preaching physically you have to be very careful, so as not to get this COVID. Now, the name of Kṛṣṇa is being preached a lot on the internet. Using WhatsApp, Facebook, etc. people are listening to the preaching. Taking this opportunity, you have to see that people are able to do devotional service to Lord Kṛṣṇa. Sanātana Gosvāmī, he was a prime minister. But he told Lord Caitanya that people say I am learned, am a paṇḍita, but I know I am actually foolish. That is why I don’t know who I am. You please tell me who am I? Lord Caitanya said, jīvera svarūpa haya nitya kṛṣṇa dāsa. We are there to serve Lord Kṛṣṇa eternally. Now, you all have come up to serve Lord Kṛṣṇa. Serving Lord Kṛṣṇa, as long as we are in this material world, sometimes we will have happiness and sometimes suffering. Now under all circumstances, we should serve Lord Kṛṣṇa, that is required. Following and preaching. So now chanting 16 rounds and following the regulative principles is the following. And that you will assist me in fulfilling the orders of Śrīla Prabhupāda to me is the preaching. We desire that the Nāmahaṭṭa expands, the chanting of the holy names expands. Everyone adopts and follows Kṛṣṇa-bhakti. Please try to see that you all follow the rules and not get out of Kṛṣṇa’s service. I will not take more because there are many initiates. All of you try to stay in Kṛṣṇa’s service.
