20200214 Mahāprabhu's First Manifestation at the House of Śuklāmbara Brahmacārī (Part 3)

mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī-guruṁ dīna-tāraṇam
paramānandaṁ mādhavaṁ śrī caitanya iśvaram
hariḥ oṁ tat sat

Jayapatākā Swami: So, they told me it was 7.30 and I went to take dinner prasāda. I think they didn’t tell me the right time! Anyway, Marici Dāsa, many devotees were asking about the safari. One Swedish lady was asking if she could go on a safari and do a yo yo in the Swedish style, so that would enthuse the Bengali ladies to do their ulu dhvani and she will do the Swedish version of ulu dvani. Any way we will do the nine verses, then question and answer.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 1.105

prabhu bale,—“mora duḥkha karaha khaṇḍana
āni’ deha’ more nanda gopendra-nandana”

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Gaurāṅga said, please relieve My distress, bring Me the son of Vrajendranandan.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 1.106

eta bali’ śvāsa chāḍi’ punaḥ-punaḥ kānde
loṭāya bhūmite keśa, tāhā nāhi bāndhe

Jayapatākā Swami: Saying that He sighed deeply, again and again He cried, He fell to the ground and His hair was not bound and trailed on the ground.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 1.107

ei sukhe sarva-dina gela kṣaṇa-prāya
kathañcit sabā-prati hailā vidāya

Jayapatākā Swami: So, in that transcendental ecstasy, the whole day passed, 12 hours passed just like a moment. He asked everyone to leave. So, Lord Caitanya, He was in ecstasy of love of Kṛṣṇa so that the whole day or 12 hours passed like a moment for Him, and He was intoxicated by the beverage of love of Kṛṣṇa. So He remained only half conscious externally. With great difficulty, He took leave from the devotees.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 1.108

gadādhara, sadāśiva, śrīmān paṇḍita
śuklāmbara-ādi sabe hailā vismita

Jayapatākā Swami: Devotees headed by Gadādhara, Sadāśiva, Śrīman Paṇḍita, Śuklāmbara and others, were all filled with amazement! Amaaaaazement!!

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 1.109

ye ye dekhilena prema, sabei avākya
apūrva dekhiyā kāro dehe nāhi bāhya

Jayapatākā Swami: All those who saw Lord Gaurāṅga’s display of love for Kṛṣṇa, everyone was speechless! amazed at what they saw! Nobody had external consciousness, everyone was overwhelmed seeing the wonder. Lord Gaurāṅga’s ecstasies were on the level of mahābhāva, which only Rādhārāṇī and some very rare souls ever would have. So He made all the devotees, speechless, they were amazed!

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 1.110

vaiṣṇava-samāje sabe, āilā hariṣe
ānupūrvī kahilena āśeṣa-viśeṣe

Jayapatākā Swami: So, all very happily, joyfully went back to the association of vaiṣṇavas, and they narrated in detail how the incidents had occurred.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 1.111

śuniyā sakala mahā-bhāgavata-gaṇa
’hari hari’ bali’ sabe karena krandana

Jayapatākā Swami: Hearing the news, all the great devotees chanted Hari! Hari! Hari! Hari! Hari! Hari! What did they chant? Hari! Hari! Hari! Hari! and everyone cried to hear the great news.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 1.112

śuniyā apūrva prema sabei vismita
keha bale,—“īśvara vā hailā vidita”

Jayapatākā Swami: When they heard the amazing, wonderful display of love of Kṛṣṇa, everyone was amazed, someone said, maybe the Supreme Lord has manifested!

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 1.113

keha bale,—“nimāi paṇḍita bhāla haile”
pāṣaṇḍīra muṇḍa chiṇḍibāre pāri hele”

Jayapatākā Swami: Others said, if Nimāi Paṇḍita is good, then we can easily tear off the heads of the atheists!

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 1.114

keha bale,—“haibeka kṛṣṇera rahasya
sarvathā sandeha nāi, jāniha avaśya”

Jayapatākā Swami: Someone else said that this is certainly all Kṛṣṇa’ s mysteries and there is no doubt about this, you should know it for certain. So, many pastimes of Kṛṣṇa are not told, but through the mouth of Nimai Paṇḍita, they were hoping to know all the hidden pastimes, unknown pastimes.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 1.115

keha bale,—“īśvara purīra saṅga haite
kibā dekhilena kṛṣṇa prakāśa gayāte”

Jayapatākā Swami: Others said, by the association, by associating with Īśvara Purī, He must have seen some manifestation of Kṛṣṇa at Gayā.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 1.116

ei-mata ānande sakala bhakta-gaṇa
nānā jane nānā kathā karena kathana

Jayapatākā Swami: In this way, the devotees discussed happily various topics, amongst themselves.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 1.117

sabe meli’ karite lāgilā āśīrvāda
“hauka hauka satya kṛṣṇera prasāda”

Jayapatākā Swami: Everyone suddenly began to offer their blessings to Lord Caitanya. Be it so! Be it so! May He be the object of Kṛṣṇa’s mercy.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 1.118

ānande lāgilā sabe karite kīrtana
keha gāya, keha nāce, karaye krandana

Jayapatākā Swami: So, the devotees began to chant in kīrtana very ecstatically. Someone was singing, someone danced and someone just cried.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 1.119

hena mate bhakta-gaṇa āchena hariṣe
ṭhākura āviṣṭa hai’ āchena nija-rase

Jayapatākā Swami: In this way the devotees were very blissful, and the Lord remained absorbed in His own mood, own mellow.

Thus ends the chapter, Mahāprabhu’s first manifestation at the house of Śuklāmbara Brahmacārī.

Question: Hare Kṛṣṇa dear Guru Mahārāja, Mahāprabhu is the most merciful incarnation. Then why His associates expressed the desire to tear up the heads of atheists?

Jayapatākā Swami: It was hypothetical. See the devotees in Navadvīpa were being persecuted and harassed by the atheists so they were expressing that. Lord Caitanya became good, they had nothing to fear with the atheists. It was a figurative statement, not to be taken literally.

Submission: Nāmahaṭṭa devotee from Purva-Midnapore, requesting blessings for the daughter, Caraṇāśrīta for her upcoming wedding. Her fiancé is chanting 8 rounds and is vegetarian. His family not devotees. Sushma dāsa girl and Arpan das boy, standing in front of you!

Jayapatākā Swami: I am glad that he is vegetarian and chanting 8 rounds! But his family is not devotee, does that mean they are not vegetarian also? Seems like it may be difficult for Sushma Dasa, the girl, anyway, I pray that their lives will be a success and that Arpan Das and Sushma Dāsī will get the proper situation.

Question: Hare Kṛṣṇa Guru Mahārāja, daṇḍavat praṇāma. How can I read the scriptures attentively. I cannot remember the scriptures. Please give me the mercy of telling me how to increase my taste for reading scriptures. Aruṇakānti Gaurāṅga dāsa

Jayapatākā Swami: Aruṇakānti Gaurāṅga dāsa, I will speak in English, you can get it translated. Usually if you take hot milk, cow’s milk it helps to increase the memory. The mind is also like a muscle, if you exercise it, becomes fast. If you take buffalo milk, then maybe the mind becomes a bit slow. Cow’s milk should help.
