mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī-guruṁ dīna-tāraṇam

Introduction: Today we are continuing with the compilation of Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Book, today’s chapter entitled is second part of:

Entrance Into Nīlācala (Part II)

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 2.408

śrī-mukhera ardha-śloka śuna sāvadhāne
ye līlā karilā gauracandra bhagavāne 

Jayapatākā Swami: From Lord Gauracandra's lotus mouth, He would recite half a verse. Hear that pastime carefully. The pastime the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Caitanya performed.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 2.409

tathāhi—

prāsādāgre nivasita puraḥ smera-vaktrāravindo
mām ālokya smita-suvadano bāla-gopāla-mūrtiḥ 

Jayapatākā Swami: “Just look at the top of the temple. There, in the form of a cowherd boy with His face resembling a fully blossomed lotus, Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa is looking at Me and smiling sweetly. In this way the beauty of His face is increasing.”

So, He composed this verse after seeing Lord Kṛṣṇa smiling at Him from top of the temple

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 2.410

prabhu bale,—“dekha prāsādera agramūle
hāsena āmāre dekhi' śrī-bāla-gopāle” 

Jayapatākā Swami: The Lord Caitanya said, “Just see, at the top of the temple Lord Śrī Bāla-gopāla is looking at Me smiling!”

Purport (by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhāta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura): Regarding the top of the temple, one should see Hari-bhakti-vilāsa, Chapters Nineteen and Twenty.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 16.120

sa-vasana haste ghana karaye āhvāna
dekhiyā vihvala–tāre kare paraṇāma 

Jayapatākā Swami: with His cloth and hand the boy seemed to be inviting Lord Caitanya to come. Seeing this, that Lord became overwhelmed. He fell down and offered His prostrated obeisances.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 16.121

bhumite paḍila prabhu–nāhika samvita
niḥśabde rahila–yena chāḍila jīvita 

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya fell to the ground. He was no longer conscious. He made no sound. It appeared that He had abandoned His life.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 16.122

dekhiyā sakala loka mūrcchita-antara
prabhu! prabhu! bali’ ḍāke–nā deya uttara 

Jayapatākā Swami: Seeing this, everyone became most anxious at heart. “Lord! Lord!”, they cried. But Lord Caitanya did give no reply.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 16.123

ki haila ki haila bali’ cinte’ guṇe’ tārā
kichu nā niḥsvare-jīyantei marā 

Jayapatākā Swami: “What happened! What happened?”, they became anxious and distraught. Lord Gaura made no sound. It was, as if dead while living.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 16.124

henai samaye prabhu uṭhila satvara
pulakita saba aṅga–premāya vibhora 

Jayapatākā Swami: At that time Lord Caitanya arouse suddenly. His hairs on His body were standing on end. He was overcome with ecstatic spiritual love. So, Lord Caitanya fell unconscious seeing Kṛṣṇa on the top of the temple. He didn’t made sound, or move then suddenly He arouse, his hairs were standing on end He was dancing on ecstasy.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 16.125

dekhiyā sakala loka jīla punarbāra
maila-śarīre yena jīura sañcāra 

Jayapatākā Swami: Seeing this, all the people felt revived. It was as if life, was placed in their dead bodies.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 16.126

tā sabhāre mahāprabhu puchaye vacane
deula-upare kichu dekhaha nayane 

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu asked everyone, “Did you see something on top of the temple? Did you see with your own eyes?

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 16.127

nīlamaṇi-kiraṇa varaṇa ujiyāra
trailokya-mohana eka sundara chāoyāla 

Jayapatākā Swami: A graceful, beautiful boy, A splendid and effulgent like rays of sapphires, a boy who attracts the three worlds?”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 2.411

ei śloka punaḥ punaḥ paḍiyā paḍiyā
āchāḍa khāyena prabhu vivaśa haiyā 

Jayapatākā Swami: Reciting this verse again and again, repeating it, Lord Caitanya then helplessly fell with to the ground with great force in ecstasy.

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 3.10.8: “My dear devotees, Look and see! Just above the abode of Śrī Hari! There our Prabhu is shining magnificently like a great effulgent blue sapphire. Behold that youth!” Although they were actually unable to see anything, those brāhmaṇas replied (fearing that the Lord would faint again), “Yes! Yes! We see the Lord's form.”

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya was seeing Kṛṣṇa but the others couldn’t, they were afraid to reply anything negative so they said, “Yes! Yes!” So Lord Caitanya was in ecstasy, He was seeing Kṛṣṇa.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 16.128

kichu nā dekhiyā tārā kahaye–dekhila
punaḥ moha yāya pāche āśaṅkā haila 

Jayapatākā Swami: Although they didn’t see anything, they replied, “Yes! We saw him” everyone was bewildered and anxious, that the Lord would fall unconscious (if they say, ‘No’).

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 3.10.9: They spoke thus because they were anxious, lest Gaura should again lose consciousness. Then He said to them, “Look! That youth is visible just near the flag of the temple of Śrī Hari. Thousands of rays of pure nectar constantly emanate from His face.”

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya was seeing Kṛṣṇa in His loving ecstasy but the others couldn’t see it.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 16.129

punaḥ tā sabhāre prabhu kahiche uttara
deula-dhvajāya dekha bālaka sundara 

Jayapatākā Swami: Again Lord Caitanya said to everyone, “Look, the beautiful boy is standing by the temple's flag.”

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 3.10.10: “With slight movement of the reddish fingers and with red lotus-like right hand he gesturing to me to come. The fingers of His left hands are placed upon the holes of the bamboo flute in a very attractive manner.

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya is telling what He sees that the blue boy is standing on the top of the temple radiant like blue sapphire. He motioning Lord Caitanya to come.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 16.130

prasanna-vadane pūrṇāmṛta yena rūpa
ālola aṅguli karatale aparūpa 

Jayapatākā Swami: He has a blissful pleasing face. His graceful form is fill of nectar. With wonderful grace He moves His fingers. Haribol! Gauranga!

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 16.131

āmāre ḍākaye karakamala-lāvaṇya
vāmakare veṇu śobhe trijagata dhanya 

Jayapatākā Swami: He is calling me with His beautiful lotus hands. He is beautifully holding the flute in His left hand. He is the most glorious person in the three world.”

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 16.132

e bole baliyā prabhu calilā satvara
ānande caliyā yāya vaiṣṇava sakala 

Jayapatākā Swami: Speaking these words, Lord Caitanya, He walked very quickly. In great bliss all the Vaiṣṇavas followed Him.

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 3.10.11: “His moon-like effulgence radiates thousands of nectarean beams. Who is He, who thus enchants My mind with His smile?” In this mood, Śrī Gaura, whose luster resembles molten gold, ran in a mood of intense eagerness for Kṛṣṇa and was swiftly pursued by His servitors.

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya seeing Lord Kṛṣṇa on top of the temple radiantly beautiful effulgent and calling for Him inspired Lord Caitanya with great prema, spiritual love to proceed rapidly to the temple.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 16.133

koṭi indu jiniñā se gaura-aṅga-chaṭā
jhalamala kare se candana-dīrgha-phoṭā 

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Gaura's transcendental body defeated the splendor of ten million moons. His long beautiful sandalwood tilaka was effulgent and attractive and moved gracefully as He proceeded.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 16.134

gaurā gāya aruṇa vasana ujiyāra 
prātaḥkāle sūrya jini varaṇa tāhāra 

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Gaura’s was covered with saffron garments, which defeated the splendor of the rising sun.

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 16.135

jagannātha-mandira dekhiyā gaurārāya 
punaḥ punaḥ paraṇāma kari’ cali’ yāya 

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Gaurārāya seeing the temple of Lord Jagannātha, He would offer His obeisances again and again as He proceeded forward.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 2.412

se dinera ye āchāḍa, ye ārti-krandana 
anantera jihvāya se nā yāya varṇana 

Jayapatākā Swami: That day His behavior, His intense crying cannot be described even the thousand tongues of Lord Anantadeva.

Murāri Gupta Kaḍaca 3.10.12: Again and again He glanced up at the palace of the universal Lord, at times stumbling because of the streams of tears which gushed from His eyes. Thus, He appeared like the peak of Mount Sumeru covered by waterfalls. On the way, He visited the tīrtha of Mārkeṇḍeya ṛṣi, the son of Mṛkaṇḍu. Lord Caitanya was crying so intensely that He could not see where He was going. At sometimes, He stumbled and then He came to sacred tīrtha of Maṛkeṇḍu sarovar and saw the Śiva liṅga that Mārkeṇḍeya ṛṣi worshipped. So, this ecstasy of Lord Caitanya going to the temple of Lord Jagannātha is something transcendental, he is in the mood of Rādhārāṇī, seeing Kṛṣṇa on the temple. He was crying in great ecstasy and He was fainted and fall to the ground that He go forward and these amazing pastimes was observed by associates of Lord Caitanya although they could not see Kṛṣṇa on the top of temple but Lord Caitanya saw.
