Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 18.74

tathā haite sandhyāya akrara-tīrthe āsiyā bhojana:—

ei-raṅge sei-dina tathā goṅāilā
sandhyā-kāle akrūre āsi’ bhikṣā nirvāhilā

Translation: Being thus transcendentally amused, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu passed that day happily at Keśī-tīrtha. In the evening He returned to Akrūra-tīrtha, where He took His meal.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, having being taken around in Vṛndāvana Parikramā after hearing the pastimes in Mathurā, he went to Keśi ghāṭa and back to Akrūra tirtha.

Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 18.75

prāte cīraghāṭe snāna, teṅtulatalāya viśrāma:—

prāte vṛndāvane kailā ‘cīra-ghāṭe’ snāna
teṅtulī-talāte āsi’ karilā viśrāma

Translation: The next morning Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu returned to Vṛndāvana and took His bath at Cīra-ghāṭa. He then went to Teṅtulī-talā, where He took rest.

Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 18.76

dvāpara-yugera teṅtula-vṛkṣa:—

kṛṣṇa-līlā-kālera sei vṛkṣa purātana
tāra tale piṅḍi-bāndhā parama-cikkaṇa

Translation: The tamarind tree named Teṅtulī-talā was very old, having been there since the time of Lord Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes. Beneath the tree was a very shiny platform.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, the tamarind tree being over 4500 years old, there was a platform under the tree which could be utilized for resting.

Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 18.77

tatsamīpei yamunā-pravāha:—

nikaṭe yamunā vahe śītala samīra
vṛndāvana-śobhā dekhe yamunāra nīra

Translation: Since the river Yamunā flowed near Teṅtulī-talā, a very cool breeze blew there. While there, the Lord saw the beauty of Vṛndāvana and the water of the river Yamunā.

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya was enjoying the beauty of Vṛndāvana and of the river Yamunā. He was in great ecstasy.

Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 18.78

teṅtula-vṛkṣatale basiyā prabhura nāma-saṅkīrtana, madhyāhne akrura-tīrthe āsiyā bhojana:—

teṅtula-tale vasi’ kare nāma-saṅkīrtana
madhyāhna kari’ āsi’ kare ‘akrūre’ bhojana

Translation: Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu used to sit beneath the old tamarind tree and chant the holy name of the Lord. At noon He would return to Akrūra-tīrtha to take lunch.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, the daily routine of Lord Caitanya was revealed here, He would taking His lunch in Akrūra tīrtha and in the morning He would sit under the tamarind tree and chant Hare Kṛṣṇa.

Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 18.79

akrara-tīrtha-vāsīra prabhu-darśane āgamana o prabhura nirjjana-bhajane saṁkhyā nāma-kīrtana-vyāghāta:—

akrūrera loka āise prabhure dekhite
loka-bhiḍe svacchande nāre ‘kīrtana’ karite

Translation: All the people who lived near Akrūra-tīrtha came to see Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, and due to the large crowds, Lord Caitanya could not peacefully chant the holy name.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Caitanya wanted to chant His number of rounds peacefully, but the large crowds of people were making it difficult.

Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 18.80

prabhura madhyāhna paryanta nirjjane saṁkhyā-nāma-kīrtana:—

vṛndāvane āsi’ prabhu vasiyā ekānta
nāma-saṅkīrtana kare madhyāhna-paryanta

Translation: Therefore Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu would go to Vṛndāvana and sit in a solitary place, where He would chant the holy name until noon.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Caitanya went to Vṛndāvana to chant His prescribed number of rounds, in some solitary place and then He goes back Akrūra tīrtha in noon to take His prasada.

Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 18.81

madhyāhnera para lokera prabhu-darśana-suyoga o prabhura sakalake nāma-kīrtanopadeśa:—

tṛtīya-prahare loka pāya daraśana
sabāre upadeśa kare ‘nāma-saṅkīrtana’

Translation: In the afternoon, people were able to speak to Him. The Lord told everyone of the importance of chanting the holy name.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Caitanya was preaching that everyone should perform nāma-saṅkīrtana, the chanting of the holy name. This message was given everywhere, some people like to do service, and they don’t put a priority for chanting. But chanting gives us association with Kṛṣṇa, it cleanses our heart. So, in spite of doing service we should always chant the holy name, this is Lord Caitanya’s special instruction.

Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 18.82

tathāya prabhuke dekhiyā rājaputa-kṛṣṇadāsera āgamana:—

hena-kāle āila vaiṣṇava ‘kṛṣṇadāsa’ nāma
rājaputa-jāti,—gṛhastha, yamunā-pāre grāma

Translation: During this time, a Vaiṣṇava named Kṛṣṇadāsa came to see Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. He was a householder belonging to the kṣatriya caste, and his house was located on the other side of the Yamunā.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, this is not the same Kṛṣṇa dāsa, the Sanoḍiyā brāhmaṇa and that Kṛṣṇa dāsa is described as a brāhmaṇa and this Kṛṣṇa dāsa is a kṣatriya.

Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 18.83

‘keśī’ snāna kari’ sei ‘kālīya-daha’ yāite
āmli-talāya gosāñire dekhe ācambite

Translation: After bathing at Keśī-tīrtha, Kṛṣṇadāsa went toward Kālīya-daha and suddenly saw Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu sitting at Āmli-talā [Teṅtulī-talā].

Jayapatākā Swami: So, while Lord Caitanya was in Vṛndāvana, chanting His solitary japa, somehow this Rajput Kṛṣṇa dāsa saw Him.

Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 18.84

prabhu-darśane kṛṣṇadāsera camatkāra:—

prabhura rūpa-prema dekhi’ ha-ila camatkāra
premāveśe prabhure karena namaskāra

Translation: Upon seeing the Lord’s personal beauty and ecstatic love, Kṛṣṇadāsa was very much astonished. Out of ecstatic love, he offered his respectful obeisances unto the Lord.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, when Kṛṣṇa dāsa saw Lord Caitanya he was astonished, someone so beautiful, and He was so ecstatic in love of Kṛṣṇa. We just went to Russia, there a deity of Prema-vilāsa Gaurāṅga was established, Lord Caitanya was enjoying Kṛṣṇa-prema.

Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 18.85

prabhura tatparicaya-jijñāsā o kṛṣṇadāsera sadainye nija-paricaya-dāna:—

prabhu kahe,—ke tumi, kāhāṅ tomāra ghara?
kṛṣṇadāsa kahe,—mui gṛhastha pāmara

Translation: Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu asked Kṛṣṇadāsa, “Who are you? Where is your home?”

Kṛṣṇadāsa replied, “I am a most fallen householder.”

Jayapatākā Swami: So, Kṛṣṇa dāsa took a humble position, so he was a gṛhastha and fallen. So, by humbling yourself before Lord Caitanya, you may get His mercy quicker.

Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 18.86

rājaputa-jāti muñi, o-pāre mora ghara
mora icchā haya—‘haṅa vaiṣṇava-kiṅkara’

Translation: “I belong to the Rājaputa caste, and my home is just on the other side of the river Yamunā. But I wish to be the servant of a Vaiṣṇava.”

Jayapatākā Swami: So, Kṛṣṇa dāsa said the miracle words, ”He wants to be a servant of a Vaiṣṇava”

Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 18.87

prabhu-darśane svīya svapna-darśana-sāphalya-varṇana:—

kintu āji eka muñi ’svapna’ dekhinu
sei svapna parateka tomā āsi’ pāinu

Translation: “Today I have had a dream, and according to that dream I have come here and found You.”

Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 18.88

prabhura tāṅhāke kṛpā, kṛṣṇadāsera prema:—

prabhu tāṅre kṛpā kailā āliṅgana kari
preme matta haila sei nāce, bale ‘hari’

Translation: Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu then bestowed upon Kṛṣṇadāsa His causeless mercy by embracing him. Kṛṣṇadāsa became mad with ecstatic love and began to dance and to chant the holy name of Hari.

Jayapatākā Swami: Hari! Hari! Hari Bol! So, Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu, the combined form of Krsna and Rādhā bestowed His causeless mercy on Kṛṣṇa dāsa, the Rajput and embraced him, after which Kṛṣṇa dāsa became overwhelmed with ecstatic love. He danced like a mad man, and he was chanting the holy name of Hari! Hari Bol!

Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 18.89

prabhu-saṅge āsiyā prabhūcchiṣṭa-lābha:—

prabhu-saṅge madhyāhne akrūra tīrthe āilā
prabhura avaśiṣṭa-pātra-prasāda pāilā

Translation: Kṛṣṇadāsa returned to Akrūra-tīrtha with the Lord, and remnants of the Lord’s food were given to him.

Jayapatākā Swami: What a mercy! Nārada muni was the son of a maid servant, and he served the great devotees of the Lord, he got some remnants from their plate, and He became Nārada Muni. To get the remnants from Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, what mercy! Inconceivable!

Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 18.90

tadavadhi kṛṣṇadāsa—prabhura kamaṇḍalu-bāhaka o nityasaṅgī:—

prāte prabhu-saṅge āilā jala-pātra lañā
prabhu-saṅge rahe gṛha-strī-putra chāḍiyā

Translation: The next morning, Kṛṣṇadāsa went with Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu to Vṛndāvana and carried His waterpot. Kṛṣṇadāsa thus left his wife, home and children in order to remain with Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, normally one would be very attached to the house, the wife and children, but Kṛṣṇa dāsa, was so devoted to Lord Caitanya, that he forgot about his material life.

Caitanya Caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā, 18.91

vṛndāvane kṛṣṇa-prākaṭyera janarava:—

vṛndāvane punaḥ ’kṛṣṇa’ prakaṭa ha-ila
yāhāṅ tāhāṅ loka saba kahite lāgila

Translation: Everywhere the Lord went, all the people said, “Kṛṣṇa has again manifested at Vṛndāvana.”

Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Caitanya brought Kṛṣṇa consciousness back to Vṛndāvana and by His presence everybody became conscious of Lord Kṛṣṇa.

Thus ends the chapter entitled, Lord Caitanya Hears the Misconception that Kṛṣṇa Has Again Manifested at Vṛndāvana
