(Gurumaharaj) speaks in Hindi for some time- tells the audience that he will speak in English.

Today we are in the book marathon month. The six goswamis were the empowered shaktis of Lord Caintya. He wrote many books.

Srinivas Acharya was another Shakti of the world. He was particularly for distributing books. So writing of books and distribution of books are both spiritual sevas, and by Prabhupada’s mercy we can all distribute the books. Every devotee has some pastimes with the books.

One boy was very frustrated. He wondered what is the purpose of life, but he did not know. So he went fishing, and he got a big fish. Very heavy, and he was winding it up thinking this was a big fish, but it was a box, and he pulled the box and he opened up the box. Inside was the Bhagavat Gita. He read that and found out what is the purpose of life.

One lady was distributing books in New Orleans Airport. So many people came out of the plane, but nobody was stopping. One man said, “Leave me alone. Today is the worst day of my life.”

“Oh we are here to help those who are having the worst day of their life. Sir, please tell me why is today the worst day of your life.”

He said, “You know why did I go to high school? I studied just to please my mother. I went to college, why? To please my mother. I got married, why? To please my mother. I got a profession, why? To please my mother. Everything I did in my life was to please my mother. Today she is no more, no more, I don’t know what to do? Today she died. What do I do?”

“Sir, do you see this book. This is the Bhagavat Gita, As It Is. This book tells you how your mother is still alive, she is not dead.” (Applause)

“Really? In that book? Do you have an extra copy, can I get one?”

“well Sir, for you I can give one copy.”

“here is $30”

“Ok”

So she showed him where in the Bhagavat Gita it says that the soul is eternal. After the body dies, the soul is on. So like this devotees all over the world are distributing the books. Distributing books is one of the very intimate services of Lord Caitanya.

Lord Krishna told Arjuna to be an instrument in His hands. “Nimitya matrena bhava sabya sachin. Be an instrument O Arjuna.” So like that the book distributor is also an instrument in the hands of Krishna. So it is a very wonderful service that gives you a chance to become and instrument in the Krishna’s hands. How many here have distributed books?

Some are not raising the hands. You should get a book and at least in this month you should try to distribute the books.

In Delhi, they have about 2700 devotees in the congregation to go out and distribute books. Mayapur, they have also gurukul, girls and boys, everybody distributes books. One table distributes so many books. Some people go to Kolkata and distribute books. There are also ten vans that go out and distribute books, whether you do one book, ten books or a hundred books, do something, and that person if they read the book, they get eternal benefit.

Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu did the kirtan. That kirtan could be heard several hundred meters, but the books are called the Brihad Mridanga because some carry these books for kilometers and kilometers.

One book was taken to a distant district, and the kaka, the mama, the different family members, they all read the book, the children…So at least eight read that book. Everyone who read it became a devotee. Now someone is a President of Visakhapatnam, one is in Warangal, India, one is a sanyasi in Mayapur, one is a grihastha in Atlanta, Georgia. One book has such far outreach. So all those people became devotees because of that book.

So you may distribute a book, and that could be read by so many people, and if one person becomes a devotee, they go back to Godhead, you get a free ticket… Hari bol…. (applause by everyone)

So during this month they can usually offer a discount. So it’s a good month to distribute books. So there are about more than three weeks left. This is the month that the Bhagavat Gita was spoken. So it’s a very auspicious month. Talk to your local temple President and get some books.

In Mayapur, we now have six parikrama parties, one international party, one Russian party, one party. So many devotees from Delhi go to the Hindi party, but we were hoping that many would also go from Mumbai, and by participating in the Nabadwip Parikrama you get special mercy.

The Nabadwip Dham is made by Srimati Radharani, and when Krishna comes to Nabadwip Dham, He takes the mood and color of Radharani.

Vrindavan is known as Madhurya dham, and Jagannath Puri is known as the aiswarya dham, but what is Nabadwip known as? It is the mercy dham, audarya dham. By going there we get special mercy, and Parikrama is just eight, nine days.

In Vrindavan, the braja mandal parikrama takes one whole month. Mayapur little over a week.

Every step is worth more than a ashwamedha yajna.

Any one of you have gone for a Nabadwip Parikrama?

Quite a few. So we would like to invite all the devotees to go.

Some sleep in the camp at night, and some go back to the guest house, whatever you want. Some walk the whole way, and some take rikshaws, vans. So whatever you are able to do. Come along.

See the places of Lord Caitanya. There are some ancient places like Narasimha Palli. Lord Narasimhadev after delivering the Hiranyakashipu demon, He was flying over the earth. He saw that this is my eternal abode, Nabadwip dham. So He stopped there, and He stayed there for some time.

All the devas came down and stayed with Him, and their wives cooked for Narasimhadev. The place is also known as Devapalli because the devas were staying there.

Like that there is Ritu dwip, where the six seasons are present every day; Vidyanagar where all the puranas were revealed; Naimisaranya, where the Vedas helped to influence the holy rivers by the Alakananda river.

One day Jagadananda came running to Lord Caitanya and Gadadhara after the school. Lord Caitanya was playing the pastime of the childhood, and he was studying in the school. After school he came running in the woods, and he saw a parrot. He said, “O parrot! You are non-different than Sukhadev Goswami.”, he took him in His hand, “tell me the glories of Radha and Krishna and Sukhadev, and Sukhadev, the Sukha Panchi began to chant, “Gaura, Gaura”……….. “Gaura, Gaura”(everyone)…

Which one of you can be parrots? …. Everyone, everyone. If you fly in the sky we know that you are a good parrot.

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

No one is flying. (laughter)

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

“No, No, No”… Lord Caitanya didn’t like it. “I want to hear the glories of Radha and Krishna, why you are chanting this?”

“I have been taught this and I have been chanting since time immemorial. I have been chanting –

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

Here the people are very reserved (laughter). Look around, who is self-conscious is not chanting.

Lord Caitanya said, “This place is non-different than Vrindavan. So you should chant Radha and Krishna. I am devotee of Radha and Krishna, I want to hear the holy names of Radha and Krishna.”

The bird said, “You are for me Krishna, Gadadhar is Radha. So you chant Radha and Krishna your way, and I will chant my way. My way of chanting is as follows:-

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

Here they don’t chant. Some chant, some just watch. You should get into the parrot ecstasy.

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

“Gaura, Gaura”………….. “Gaura, Gaura”(repeated by devotees)

Lord Caitanya ran away covering His ears. But Jagananda always remembered this. So he wrote this down in his book Prema Vivarta. So like that there are so many places in Nabadwip Dham.

The deity is worshipped by Visnupriya. Ramchandra said that he banished Sita to the forest, and He was worshipping a golden murti of Sita, and Sita was in the forest, and she was remembering the pastime that she had with Ram in the forest, and she had her sons Luv and Kush.

So in Caitanya Lila, Lord Caitanya banished Himself into the forest. Sita or Visnupriya, she stayed at home and worshipped the golden form of Lord Caitanya, and that murti is still visible in Nabadwip dham.

So like this there are many places and things to see. Some are lupta and some are prakashit.

So anyway we hope that you come and visit Nabadwip dham. So I will give some time. Anyone has any questions, you can ask.

Question: When does the parikrama start there.

Gurumaharaj: Usually it ends in dashami, before Gaura Purnima. It starts about eight days before Gaura Purnima, I don’t know the exact date, or you can find out in the website, mayapur.com.

Any other questions?

Question: If we do go to Mayapur and do unintentional offences, what will be the consequence?

Gurumaharaj: Mayapur is called the audarya dham, merciful dham. It doesn’t take offences very easily. So Siddha Jagannath Das Babaji came to Nabadwip Dham because it was not very sensitive to offences. Also Nabadwip is known to get rid of offences.

Aparadh bhanjan kulipath- So one of things special things that we do is we do a special prayer to get rid of offences.

In Vrindavan, you get one thousand times the benefit for anything that you do, but you also get a thousand times the discipline if you commit offences.

In Nabadwip, you get one thousand times the benefit, but offences are very minimal.
