20230223 NMP Day 1 Addressing Gita Course A Group Parikrama Party Surabhi-kunja

The following is a Navadvīpa Maṇḍala Parikramā Address given by by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Maharāja on February 23rd 2023 at Godrumadvīpa. 

Surabhi-kuñja: In Godrumadvīpa there are many places of pilgrimage. Of them, one of the main places is Surabhi-kuñja. Here till now, Surabhi cow lives. But to see her we need special mercy. Then all over the universe there is water during pralaya, then Godrumadvīpa and other places in Navadvīpa remain intact. Godrumadvīpa is quite big. Mārkaṇḍeya Ṛṣi had the blessing that he would be alive for seven days of Lord Brahmā. At the end of every day of Brahmā, there is pralaya. Everything is immersed in water. Then Mārkaṇḍeya Ṛṣi would survive but would not have anything to eat. So, he would stay under water without eating anything. And from far he would see Godrumadvīpa. When he reached there, he saw a high shore. He was very hungry. Then he saw the Surabhi cow. He prayed and requested the Surabhi cow to give milk. Then Surabhi cow gave milk into his mouth. Drinking that milk, he stayed alive. The Surabhi cow stays in this Surabhi-kuñja. Here Nityānanda Prabhu started the first Nāmahaṭṭa. He danced, did kīrtana and rolled in this place. The devotees come here and pay obeisances and roll on the ground. Anyway, all of you take this opportunity and we are fortunate to have been able to come to this Surabhi-kuñja.And there is a temple built by the Gauḍīya Maṭha. That is why we sit down here and hear the glories of Nitāi-Gaura and Surabhi-kuñja. Near here is the samādhi of Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura and Siddha Jagannātha dāsa Bābājī’s Bhajana-kuṭīra are there. And one of Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura’s disciples, Śrī Anantadeva, his samādhi is there as well. From his house, Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura looked out of the window and he saw Māyāpur, there was a lighted place and he understood that would be Lord Caitanya’s birthplace. Because of Siddha Jagannātha dāsa Bābājī we are all able to see Lord Caitanya’s birthplace in Yogapīṭha. Hare Kṛṣṇa!
