Introduction: So, Lord Caitanya had decided that He would take sannyāsa, and mother Śacī heard the rumor. And being afflicted with love in the vātsalya-rasa, she pleaded with Lord Gaurāṅga not to leave. Lord Gaurāṅga or Viśvambhara, He saw that Śacī devī may not survive if He leaves. So He took her aside and talked to her some confidential things. That is what today’s narration is. The chapter:
Surucī Insults Dhruva – Viśvambhara’s Narration to Śacī Devī
Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 11.35
cānda-mukhera vacana amiyā
rūpa gaḍhala kemana vidhi dhairaja dhariyā
Jayapatākā Swami: The nectarean words flow from the moonlike mouth of Lord Viśvambhara. How did Brahmā maintain his composure? When he made the glorious form of Gaurāṅga. Of course, we believe that Gaurāṅga’s form is sat-cid-ānanda, and that it is not created by Lord Brahmā. But maybe Brahmā had some, we think that had something to do with it. But actually, Lord Caitanya descended from the spiritual world. And His form is eternal, the form of eternity, knowledge and bliss. So, certainly when Brahmā creates the living entities, Lord Gaurāṅga’s form is something special for him.
dhruvere vaiṣṇara kaila dhruvera jananī
kahiye se rasa śuna apūrva kāhinī
Jayapatākā Swami: Dhruva’s mother made Dhruva into a great Vaiṣṇava, “I am telling you that mellow, please listen to this wonderful story.”
Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 11.36: “Where was the hunter Dharma's piety, Dhruva's maturity, and Gajendra's knowledge? Where was Kubjā's beauty? Where was Sudāmā's wealth? Where was Vidura's noble birth? Where was Ugrasena's chivalrous strength? Lord Mādhava is pleased only by devotional service and not by material qualifications.
Jayapatākā Swami: Because of the devotees’ spontaneous devotion in devotional service for the Lord, therefore the Lord is pleased with them. It is not that Kubjā’s beauty or Sudama’s wealth, or the other qualities mentioned here, are not the reason why Kṛṣṇa is pleased with them. Dhruva as a young boy, went into the forest, but he seemed very mature, to find the Lord. It was his desire to serve the Lord, to find the Lord, that pleased the Lord, not his particular quality of maturity.
Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 11.37
ei guna mātā dhruva-kathā eka-mana-citte

Jayapatākā Swami: With a single mind and heart, listen my dear mother, to the story of how Dhruva Maharāja achieved a very exalted position.
Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 11.38
brahmāra mānasaputra-svāyambhuva manu

Jayapatākā Swami: Svyāmbhuva Manu was the mental son of Lord Brahmā. He was powerful, and as effulgent as Lord Brahmā himself.
Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 11.39
tāra dui putra priyavrata uttānapāda
duhe mahārājā haila brahmāra prasāda
Jayapatākā Swami: He had two sons, Priyavrata and Uttānapāda. By Brahmā’s mercy, they both became great kings.
Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 11.40
uttānapāda mahārājā dui vibhā kari
suruci sunīti nāme duita sundarī
Jayapatākā Swami: King Uttānapada, He married twice. Suruci and Sunīti were the names of his two beautiful wives.
Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 11.41

Jayapatākā Swami: Uttama’s mother, Suruci, was favored by her husband, Uttānapada. But Dhruva’s mother was not favored by her husband, Uttānapada.
Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 11.43

Jayapatākā Swami: It is not possible to explain the sorrow of Sunīti, Dhruva’s mother, that sorrow would make the stones float and dry the ocean.
Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 11.45

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 11.50

Jayapatākā Swami: So when Dhruva saw the other seven brothers sitting on his father’s lap, seeing that, Dhruva started to climb the jewel throne.
Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 11.51
siṁhāsane uṭhiyā bāpera kole yāite
dhruvera satāi ṭheli pelilena bhūmite
Jayapatākā Swami: When he had climbed the throne, and he went to sit on the lap of his father, his step mother, pushed Dhruva down and threw him to the ground!
Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 11.52
bhūmite paḍiyā dhruva kāndite lāgila

Caitanya Maṅgala, Madhya-khaṇḍa 11.57

So, in the Americas, it is Janmāṣṭamī today, Latin America and North America. Tomorrow we are having Janmāṣṭamī in Mayapur, Europe and Australasia. And I will be giving class tomorrow morning. May be that will be too early for the Europeans, but it will be a good time for the Eastern – Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, China. So, they have expanded by Zoom account to 1000 participants. So, one can either watch the class on Facebook or Zoom or Mayapur TV, or YouTube. We will continue the class.
It is a very special day to fast. Although we are having a virtual celebration in many parts, in the Hari-bhakti-vilāsa, Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī quotes, if you watch the worship of Kṛṣṇa, you get the same result as the worshipper. That means that all those who watch on YouTube or virtually, they get the same benefit as the person doing the ārati. So, you don’t have to feel deprived. Also, somehow today being the Janmāṣṭamī in North America and South America, we are going to visit South America at 8.30 pm IST, and speak on Kṛṣṇa Janmāṣṭamī. If anyone knows Spanish, you are welcome to attend, You can write to Śyama Rasika, he will send you the link.
So, we have a Jayapatākā Swami app available, today we are launching in the Janmāṣṭamī in North America. But you can download from the stores in Android or Apple phone.
Just look at Jayapatākā Swami and you will get the app.
