20200813 JAYAPATAKA SWAMI GURU MAHARAJ, HOMAGE TO SRILA PRABHUPADA, IN THE VYASA PUJA CELEBRATION, SRI MAYAPUR DHAM, INDIA

mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim

yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī-guruṁ dīna-tāraṇam

paramānandaṁ mādhavaṁ śrī caitanya iśvaram

hariḥ oṁ tat sat

Since I don’t have the Vyasa Puja book, I will just speak extempore. Srila Prabhupada was very kind to me and he said, he was sending me to India, after he trained me up. And, I joined in 1968 and in 1970, he sent me to India. And when he arrived from Japan, he had just signed a contract with Dye Nippon to publish some book. But he was very concerned in Calcutta, that some of his sannyasi followers had started preaching that he was Krsna. So he wanted to know where this poison came from. So he talked to Acyutananda prabhu and that time, he ascertained that Acyutananda had heard something from the Gaudiya matth and had sent a letter to Brahmananda prabhu. The Gaudiya matth said that he was empowered by Srila Bhaktisiddanta Saraswati Thakura and the actual person who delivered the devotees was Srila Bhaktisiddanta Saraswati Thakura. And then the sannyasis they thought that well, if Srila Prabhupada is Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakura, then he could also be Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, the six goswamis. And finally they came to the idea that he was Krsna. And so Srila Prabhupada said, this is a big poison and this is kind of a ritvik idea. He called me in the room and started to grill me. But I didn’t know anything about this. So then he turned to his secretary and said, he is innocent! So like this Srila Prabhupada was very concerned in keeping the proper mood in ISKCON. I saw at one time, he was holding his head. And he said, you don’t know what it is like, to run a worldwide spiritual movement! So, the future generations have a responsibility to keep Srila Prabhupada’s teachings and mood intact. And, that is what the GBC is very interested in now, that the direct disciples of Srila Prabhupada should see that all the basic problems are solved, and the future generations can carry on Srila Prabhupada’s vision. So I saw you found the homage book. I will finish my talk here. Someone will read my homage to Srila Prabhupada:

“My dear spiritual father, His Divine Grace Abhaya Caranaravinda Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada!

Please accept my respectful obeisances!

At this time we are remembering Your Divine Grace – how you utilized every opportunity to preach the message of Lord Caitanya. Now we are under the pandemic of the corona virus. This offers us an opportunity to request all the people of the world to chant the name of God, as you have instructed. We remember how you gave out the mercy of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. He said that no matter how fallen or how sinful a person was, He would deliver them. But He said that if a person offends a Vaisnava, then He will not deliver him! You once told us how in the presence of your guru everyone was very respectful, but that after he departed, your god brothers began to fight with each other. You also said that even in your presence your disciples were fighting. However, since you left we have been working together under the GBC. So without your mercy, how is it possible that we will be delivered? I am hoping that I can be freed of any offense I may have committed, knowingly or unknowingly, to the Vaisnavas or to Your Divine Grace.

We see that Krsna is Yogesvara, the greatest of all magicians, and so He can do anything He wants. We hope that by your mercy, somehow Sri Krsna Caitanya will inspire all the people to take up bhakti-yoga at this time of worldwide pandemic. I surrender at your lotus feet and, by your mercy, I hope to continue serving till my last breath. And I hope that the future generations will serve Your Divine Grace with full dedication!

The Brahma Vaivarta Purana predicted that there will be a Golden Age during this Kali yuga when people will become Vaisnavas and chant the holy names, that this age would last for ten thousand years and that it would start five thousand years after the beginning of Kali-yuga, and Lord Caitanya came about four hundred years before you did. We see that Lord Caitanya empowered you to usher in the Golden Age. And this corona virus pandemic has brought the world to a standstill – travel between countries ins not happening or is highly restricted. Therefore at this time we pray for your mercy so that the present worldwide crisis will inspire all the people to read your books, chant the holy name, pray to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and practice bhakti-yoga.

At this all-auspicious time of your Vyasa-puja, we bow down to your lotus feet, offer our pushpanjali three times, and pray for your mercy. Please forgive us for any offenses we have made, and allow us to serve you eternally.
