20140828 Śrīla Prabhupāda's Māyāpur Vision by Jayapatākā Swami. Pt.2

Gurumahārājā:

mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ
paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande
paramānanda-mādhavam
Śrī Caitanya Iswaram
Hari Oṁ Tat Sat.

So, today we are continuing with the vision for Māyāpur draft.

This is the draft. So, if you would like to amend anything; afterwards please give in writing to Gaurāṅga Dās. This is a final draft. Many years of work has gone into this. So, please give your attention and see how you like it.

Yesterday we talked about the Harinām kīrtan. Today is the next topic.

Sujendriya Dās: Prasādam distribution.

Gurumahārāja: Who is hungry?

Acintya Chaitanya Dās: (Reading): Prasādam Distribution: Pure and delicious prasāda is distributed daily without any discrimination to the rich and poor, the locals and foreigners. No one within a ten miles radius should go hungry.

While the other temples in the area only distributed prasādam during the annual festival of Lord Caitanya’s birthday, Śrīla Prabhupāda had ordered that our Māyāpur Candrodaya Temple distribute prasādam at least twice a week, and if possible everyday. As a result thousands came; many walking as much as twenty miles from distant villages, and those who came were not just Hindus. Many Muslims recognizing ISKCON’s non-secreterian mood felt no aversion whatsoever to sitting side by side with their Hindu brothers, respecting Kṛṣṇa prasādam and even chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa. This is from Tamal Kṛṣṇa Goswāmi’s book, Servant of the Sevant, Rādhā Dāmodara Party, chapter- 14, come travel with us.

Gurumahārāja: So, Prabhupāda said, he wanted this to be a living temple. And one of his definitions of a living temple was regular prasādam distribution. I was personally present when Śrīla Prabhupāda was walking on his veranda, and there was a sound dogs barking. So, Prabhupāda looked over his verandah, and there he saw some village boys eating the remnants of people’s paṭṭa’s... shall pata’s plates. And with one hand they had a stick, fighting off the dog’s. Prabhupāda, he started crying. How hungry they must be to take first of all ucchistha which we normally eat, and then fighting off the dogs. With tears in his eyes he said, “This temple is Kṛṣṇa’s temple. No one should be hungry within a ten miles radius.

So, he instituted that we regularly distribute prasādam to the pilgrims and villagers. So, this was very important to Śrīla Prabhupāda.

Just like if you are with your father, you don’t think, “Where will I eat?” But Kṛṣṇa is the supreme father. How can we allow anyone to be hungry in the presence of Lord Kṛṣṇa. Also the sādhus, they should get special daily Prasad. One day with the safari I was visiting a Ram Tīrtha. There some sādhus gave all the devotees some fruit to eat. After the devotees were finishing their fruits, they mentioned how they had come to Māyāpur, but no one fed them any prasādam. I felt very small. We may see some sādhu here; we should think that they somehow they are also trying to achieve self-realization.

If... I told, but in case... they didn’t hear. If you only tell them, If the temple cannot feed, I will pay... any sādhu who comes to have Prasad in Mayapur. ..(applause) And right now two days a week we give out Prasādam to all guests: sādhu, babu, farmer, dānī, whoever. But somehow we should see that at least a small bit is given everyday.

Our Tirupati temple; they have small cups of shall pattas. They give out prasādam everyday. This is one of the things that Prabhupāda said we should see; the distribution of Prasādam.

Acintya Caitanya Prabhu: (Reading)

T.O.V.P. temple worship:

The deities are worshipped with exemplary love and devotion, and the Vedic alternative to modern reductionist signs and cosmology is demonstrated.

A variety of scientific presentations on spiritual life display the harmony of science and spirituality transcending all secreterian boundaries thus inspiring all those who visit to engage in Lord Caitanya’s eternal service.

Acintya Caitanya Prabhu: (Reading)

Prabhupāda: Now you all together make this Vedic Planetorium very nice so that people will come and see. From the description of Śrīmad Bhāgavatam you prepare this Vedic Planetarium.

How do you like this idea, Vedic Planetarium.

Ambarish: It seems like a very nice idea.

Prabhupāda: so, you also like. So, finance this project. (laughter) Vedic Planeterium.

Ambarish: Where will this be?

Prabhupāda: Māyāpur. My idea is to attract people of the whole world to Māyāpur.

Room conversation. June 15, 1976, Detroit.

Gurumahārāja: So, Ambarish Prābhu, he fulfilled his... Prabhupāda gave him the service to finance the Temple of Vedic Planetarium. He gave approximately 600 crores of rupees.... yea, 600-650 like that.

So, everybody in my office, they donated at least one square foot. And some devotees are giving Narasinghadeva... one golden tile, or some are giving golden brick, and there is a special opportunity coming up. The idea is, everybody has a chance to participate.

Now the idea is that Prabhupāda wanted and exhibition which would show the Vedic idea of the universe. Apart from that there is Devī Dham, Mahesh Dham, Hari Dham and Goloka Dhām, and also to present some of the scientific presentations of the Bhāgavatam.

So, this temple will be a unique temple in the world. Rādhā Mādhava and the astha sakhīs, Panchatattva, Narasimhādev, Guru Paramparā, Śrīla Prabhupāda, all will be in the new temple.

Prabhupāda, he wanted that the Deities should be worshipped very gorgeously. So, if someone is infront of Deity, he feels, I am in front of Bhagavān.

I was personally present when he taught how to decorate the shaligram shila. So, these Deities are to be worshipped with great care and love. These Deities are alive. They are Jāgrata. So, this is an important aspect of this temple. Confirmed.

The altar will be open for the next fifteen minutes. If you want to make any prayer, this is your last chance today.

There is many quotes where Prabhupāda talked about the T.O.V.P or the temple of Vedic Planetarium, and in some places he said, It should be like the Westminster Abby.

In the Bhakti Ratnakar, Śrīnivāsa Ācārya had seven visions given by Lord Caitanya. So, ... Aloukik Darshan.

So, there was two temples; two visions were of temples, and the temple had a big dome. One was Lord Caitanya and His consorts, and one was Panchatattava and thousands of devotees from all over the world.

Also in the Nabadwipa Mahatmaya written about two hundred years ago were about Lord Nityānanda taking Jīva Goswāmi around the Nabadwipa Dhām, and there Lord Nityānanda said, “Ek Adbhuta Mandira hoibe prakasha, Garangera nitya sevā hoibe vikasa.”

So, Prabhupāda, he wanted to make this offering to the previous Acharya’s and to Lord Caitanya. So, this is the third visionary statement....

Fourth...

Acintya Caitanya Prābhu: fourth is cow protection.

The cows are kept happy, protected, worshipped, and fully engaged setting a standard for goshālas all over the world.

This program is very very important. If you can help to organize our cow program in Māyāpur, it will be great credit for you. We must be able to go around our own fodder for the cows. We don’t want to have to purchase food for the cows outside from some other party. That will run into a great expense. Cow protection is the business of the vaiśyas, and along with our preaching this is the most important work. We must have a good section of Brāhmaṇā’s in our society and we must also have a good group of Vaiśyās who can grow grains and tend cows, and thus supply the society with food grains and milk products from the cows like ghee, curd, cream etc. If you can help in Māyāpur it would be very much appreciated.

Letter to Hasyakari Dās, Honolulu, 26th of May, 1975.

Gurumahārāja: So, all these areas are the areas that need to be developed. So, we know that in India they have kept the cow slaughter as a state item in the constitution, and the two states that allow cow slaughter are, West Bengal and Kerala. This is very sad. But also cows are exported all over the world, and in the West they are killed. So, we want to protect our cows, and we want that people can have wholesome milk products. So, this is a area that Prabhupāda, he also said is important.

So, are there any comments or comments?

Question: I just have one question regarding the agenda of your discussion for the following days. Will there be any discussions and comments regarding how the system and the infrastructure of management, and how Māyāpur is expanding...

Acintya Caitanya Prābhu: We read out yesterday what the items were for which there is a vision.

Gurumahārāja: if you would like to be a part of the strategic planning committee, you can talk with the members of the strategic planning committee, Hṛdoya Caitanya Das, Kaunteya Dās and others.

Today is Mādhav’s third birthday. Anyone else’s birthday today?

Acintya Caitanya Prābhu: Mādhava is my son.

Gurumahārāja: It is bed time for a three year old.

So, the last chance if any comments or questions?

Question: Gurumahārāja, I have noticed that in Vṛndāvana Dhāma, in our ISKCON temple in Vṛndāvana on Śrīla Prabhupāda’s appearance day, and on his disappearance days all the visitors that come to the temple, they are all fed sumptuously prasādam on that day. So, can such a program take place in Māyāpur also where the guests and visitors can have sumptuous prasādam on Prabhupāda’s appearance and disappearance days?

Gurumahārāja: As far as I knew that was supposed to be program, at least on Guara Pūrṇimā, but whether we want to do on Prabhupāda’s appearance and disappearance days, that could also be considered.

In the Samādhi the whole day, the whole day, they give free, free, misthanna, sweet rice.

Haribol.
