nija-priya-sthāna mora—mathurā-vṛndāvana
tāhāṅ eta dharma cāhi karite pracāraṇa

Translation: “Mathurā-Vṛndāvana is My own very dear abode. I want to do many things there to preach Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

Purport: Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu wanted to accomplish many purposes through the exegetical endeavors of Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī. First Sanātana Gosvāmī compiled the book called Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta to teach people how to become devotees, execute devotional service and attain love of Kṛṣṇa. Second, he compiled the Hari-bhakti-vilāsa, wherein he collected authoritative scriptural injunctions regarding how a Vaiṣṇava should behave. Only by the endeavors of Śrī Sanātana Gosvāmī were all the lost places of pilgrimage in the Vṛndāvana area excavated. He established Madana-mohana, the first Deity in the Vṛndāvana area, and by his personal behavior he taught how one should act in the renounced order, completely devoted to the service of the Lord. By his personal example, he taught people how to stay in Vṛndāvana to execute devotional service. The principal mission of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu was to preach Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Mathurā and Vṛndāvana are the abodes of Lord Kṛṣṇa. Therefore these two places are very dear to Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, and He wanted to develop their glories through Sanātana Gosvāmī.

Jayapatākā Swami: Now we have many holy places in Mathurā and Vṛndāvana and we started to establish the lotus footprint of Lord Caitanya in each of these. Lord Caitanya has personally found the Śyama-kuṇḍa and Rādhā-kuṇḍa. We have established the lotus footprint there. We are systematically trying to teach people how Vṛndāvana was revealed by Lord Caitanya. And Lord Caitanya did it both personally and through Sanātana Gosvāmī.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 4.82

mātṛ-ājñāya svayaṁ kṣetramaṇḍale avasthānapūrvaka nijābhinna prakāśa-vigraha cidvilāsa śrī-sanātana-rūpe māthura-maṇḍale pūrvokta caturvidha mano’bhīṣṭa kṛṣṇasevā-sampādanaḥ—

mātāra ājñāya āmi vasi nīlācale
tāhāṅ ‘dharma’ śikhāite nāhi nija-bale

Translation: “By the order of My mother I am sitting here in Jagannātha Purī; therefore, I cannot go to Mathurā-Vṛndāvana to teach people how to live there according to religious principles.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Caitanya was ordered by His mother to reside in Jagannātha Purī but He go and visit Vṛndāvana but to reside in Jagannātha Purī. So He was depending on Sanātana Gosvāmī and the six Gosvāmīs, how to practice the renounced order and live in Vṛndāvana.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 4.83

eta saba karma āmi ye-dehe karimu
tāhā chāḍite cāha tumi, kemane sahimu?”

Translation: “I have to do all this work through your body, but you want to give it up. How can I tolerate this?”

Jayapatākā Swami: So, Lord Caitanya is revealing what He wants to perform through Sanātana Gosvāmī’s body. The purport is that one should not commit suicide.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 4.84

āpanāke yantri-prabhura yantra-jñāne sanātanera prabhustutiḥ—

tabe sanātana kahe,—“tomāke namaskāre
tomāra gambhīra hṛdaya ke bujhite pāre?

Translation: At that time Sanātana Gosvāmī said to Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, “I offer my respectful obeisances unto You. No one can understand the deep ideas You plan within Your heart.

Jayapatākā Swami: Similarly, His Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda wanted to do many things through his disciples and followers. So they should take the austerity to fulfill his desires.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Antya-līlā, 4.85

kāṣṭhera putalī yena kuhake nācāya
āpane nā jāne, putalī kibā nāce gāya!

Translation: “A wooden doll chants and dances according to the direction of a magician but does not know how he is dancing and singing.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda, he made a similar prayer when he was landing in Boston, USA. Therefore, he allowed Kṛṣṇa to make him dance anyway he wanted, that’s the great potency of the pure devotee.
