20240819 Addressing Hooghly District Nāmahaṭṭa Sammelan

mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī-guruṁ dīna-tāraṇam
paramānanda-mādhavam śrī caitanya īśvaram
Harihi oṁ tat sat

Jayapatākā Swami: Now Lord Nityānanda was worshiped in many places in Hooghly district. Lord Nityānanda is the incarnation of Balarāma. Today is Balarāma Pūrṇimā. So you definitely have the blessings of Lord Nityānanda! There are many śrīpāṭs of Lord Gaura and Lord Nityānanda in Hooghly district. I hope that the Nāma-haṭṭa will focus on all these śrīpāṭs and preach. When we read the scriptures like Caitanya-bhāgavata, Caitanya-maṅgala, Caitanya-caritāmṛta there is no dearth of reference to places in Hooghly district. Nitāi-Gaura preached a lot in Navadvīpa. Then when Lord Gaurāṅga took sannyāsa, He went to Nīlācala. In Nīlācala, along with Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu was Nitāi. But Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu ordered Lord Nityānanda. And then Lord Nityānanda along with some devotees went back to Bengal. This way Nitāi-Gaura together preached in Navadvīpa, but Lord Nityānanda especially preached profusely in Hooghly district. It is your responsibility that you preach all over Hooghly district. You should explain the glories of the holy names of Kṛṣṇa to all your friends, relatives, etc. And this way, there should be profuse preaching in Hooghly district.

I took this opportunity to take darśana of Lord Jagannātha, Baladeva, Subhadrā and Sudarśana cakra today. Today is Baladeva Pūrṇimā, so I took Their darśana!

I heard that the devotees of Hooghly district can do hari-dhvani! Haribol! I also heard that the ladies of Hooghly district can do ulu-dhvani! There are some places where Balarāma enacted His pastimes. In the north there is a place where especially if one takes bath in Kārtika month, they will get special benefit. Near Jalāṅgī river there are some places, in the south eastern side of Lord Jagannātha Mandir where Balarāma had fought with Māyāsura. But we are not able to search out this position. But one old resident had said that there is a field that is called Māyāmāri-keth. From this we see that Balarāma had killed Māyāsura there. Now Śrīla Prabhupāda said that his ancestors hailed from Hooghly district. I was told to ignore the Hooghly district devotees, I should go back to the Lotus building, but I just cannot ignore the Hooghly district devotees!

This is Hooghly district Nāma-haṭṭa has two divisions I am told. That means there are many devotees. I have spoken to many Nāma-haṭṭa sammelans here but the district devotees had to be divided into two, I heard the first time! Many exalted devotees of Nitāi like Abhirāma Ṭhākura, etc. hailed from Hooghly district I heard. Ādi-saptagrāma had many devotees. You should all not stop this worship and preach so that all your relatives, friends, etc. to become followers of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu.
