Highlights

Happy Narasiṁha Caturdaśī! We celebrated the appearance day of Lord Narasiṁhadeva today here in ISKCON Delhi.

We arrived in Delhi on the 22nd of April late at night after a brief visit to Malaysia. In Kuala Lumpur Śrī Jagannātha Mandir we had the Deity installation of Śrī Śrī Rādhā Gokulacandra. They had been worshipping Jagannātha, Baladeva, Subhadrā, Sudarśana and Nitāi Sundara Gaurahari for many years, and now they have installed Śrī Śrī Rādhā Gokulacandra. I did the prāṇa-pratiṣṭhā and also gave the name. His Holiness Bhānu Swami, His Holiness Bhakti-vighna-vināśa Narasiṁha Swami, His Grace Prabha Viṣṇu Prabhu, His Holiness Bhakti Puruṣottama Swami, His Holiness Bhakti Mukunda Swami, His Holiness Bhakti Ārjava Prītivardhana Swami, and many other senior devotees were also present. One day before, they had organized Harināma and brāhmaṇa initiation, and since it finished late, I could not participate in the netronmilana ceremony.

I was very happy to see devotees from all over Malaysia and also from the neighboring countries for the festival. The day before we left Malaysia, I addressed the youth and encouraged them to expand the preaching in Malaysia. We also showed a video on bhajan clubbing.

Today is Narasiṁha Caturdaśī. Prahlāda Mahārāja, when he saw Lord Narasiṁhadeva first, he said that he was able to see the Lord because of the mercy of his spiritual master, so he requested Lord Narasiṁha that he continue to be engaged in serving his spiritual master.

I participated in the abhiṣeka ceremony. Prahlāda Lakṣmī Narasiṁhadeva was so beautiful, and it was so wonderful to see the abhiṣeka being offered to the Lord and His devotee. The Supreme Lord comes from the spiritual world and delivers fallen souls, saves His devotees. Actually, He can do anything. But He just shows us a little, wonderful thing. And all these pastimes are transcendental and by remembering them and by glorifying Lord Narasiṁha, Lord Kṛṣṇa, it gives us great spiritual benefit and purification.

Śrīla Prabhupāda’s Message

Śrīla Prabhupāda wanted every devotee to go back to Godhead in this lifetime.

“Simply use this marital life for spreading the glories of Lord Krsna and in this very lifetime you will be promoted to associate with Krsna in Goloka Vrndavana. So please stay on the purity platform; chant 16 rounds daily and without fail, follow all the regulative principles, and read all our books and your life is sure to be successful.” —Letter to Vaikunthanatha, Saradia – 4 April 1971, Bombay

“The process is simple. Follow the regulative principles of devotional life undeviatingly, regularly chant 16 rounds of beads daily and without fail, read all our literatures, attend classes and aratis, and go for street sankirtana. If there are any questions, always refer them to your elder godbrothers and sisters. So our method is not so difficult. Rather it is joyful. So engage yourself enthusiastically in this way and you will be happy and in the end go back to home, back to Godhead.” —Letter to Sukhada – 4 August 1971, London

My Message

Śrīla Prabhupāda said that I should make 50,000 disciples. But actually, this is a great responsibility, that each disciple has to go back to Godhead. I said this before, but I am saying it again because I want everyone to take it very seriously, that they have to be bhakti-yogīs or bhakti-yoginīs.

We are not doing a casual thing. We are at war. We are at war with material energy. And I want every devotee to be enthusiastic in this war against māyā. We have a short life, less than 100 years. We have to be not only enthusiastic – it is life and death! If we are not fully Kṛṣṇa conscious, then this Kali-yuga is waiting for us.

You have to be very enthusiastic to practice Kṛṣṇa consciousness and chant the holy name even if somehow māyā has come in your way and made you lose your enthusiasm. It is a war. It is māyā’s job. She is a nice servant of Kṛṣṇa, and she does this. So we have to be a better servant. We have to take shelter of the holy name. We have to chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare / Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare and drive Kali away!

Inspirational Stories

Being in Delhi, I am remembering my dear godbrother and friend His Holiness Gopāla Kṛṣṇa Goswami. He made 18 or 20 temples in Delhi. All the temples are doing very nice preaching and book distribution.

Two days ago, I participated in the inauguration of the new museum wing, and they use many modern technologies in preaching. I also saw the virtual reality show, which was very interesting.

In my last fortnightly message, I mentioned about ‘Bhajan Clubbing’. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu predicted that in every town and village His name would be sung, and Śrīla Prabhupāda wanted everyone to chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, dance, and take prasāda. So, ‘Bhajan clubbing’ is that type of program. Śrīla Prabhupāda wanted the government to organize this type of program, but the youths are organizing it. I don’t know if in other countries they are doing it, but in India, tens of thousands of people chant and dance Hare Kṛṣṇa! You can watch the video on ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ made by ISKCON Chennai https://youtu.be/RWsYPaC_WvI?si=urf_Eo7UTdRd4Kh-

Lord Narasiṁhadeva is so merciful, He appeared to protect His devotee. Lord Kṛṣṇa is also merciful. And Lord Caitanya is even more merciful. He is even praying for creepers and insects to be delivered. He wants to deliver all the fallen souls. So everyone should preach. Everyone should try to manifest Lord Caitanya’s mercy and get transcendental bliss and not remain in this material illusion.

We were reading last night in Nāmāmṛta, how material life is like a kind of coma. Just like you wake people up from snakebite sleep with mantras, we wake people up from the sleep of this material world by the mahā-mantra: Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare / Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare!

I hope this finds you in good health and blissful Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

Your well-wisher always,
Jayapatākā Swami
