Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya was engaged in discussion with Paramānanda Purī, especially discussing about topics of Kṛṣṇa and the great mysteries connected with that, constantly He would enjoy pastimes with Paramānanda Purī.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.235

purī gosāñira kūpe bhāla nahe jala
antaryāmī prabhu tāhā jānila sakala

Jayapatākā Swami: Paramānanda Purī Gosvāmī's well did not have good water, Lord Caitanya as the Supersoul, He knew that.

Purport: The well of Paramānanda Purī is a little west of Lord Jagannātha's temple. Śrīmad Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura has discovered the location of this well. It is right next to the police station.

Jayapatākā Swami: And now we see that the well is in front of the police station. Some residents of Jagannātha Purī suggested that ISKCON take charge of the well.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.236

purī gosāñire prabhu puchilā āpani
“kūpe jala ke-mata haila kaha śuni”

jala haila yena ghora kardamera rūpa”

Jayapatākā Swami: Paramānanda Purī replied, “This well is very unfortunate, the water is always completely muddy.”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.238

Missing Missing śuni' prabhu hāya hāya karite lāgilā
prabhu bale,—“jagannātha kṛpaṇa hailā

Jayapatākā Swami: On hearing this, Lord Caitanya said, “Alas! Alas! Lord Jagannātha has become miserly.”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.239

purīra kūpera jala paraśibe ye
sarva pāpa thākile o taribeka se

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya said, “Anyone who touches the water from Paramānanda Purī's well, even if he has all sins, he will be delivered.”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.240

ataeva jagannātha-devera māyāya
naṣṭa jala haila—yena keha nāhi khāya”

Jayapatākā Swami: “Therefore, by the illusory potency of Lord Jagannātha, the water has become so bad that no one can drink it.”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.241

prabhura varapradāna—“kūpe bhogavatī gaṅgā praviṣṭa haūna”–
eta bali' mahāprabhu āpane uṭhilātuliyā
śrī-bhuja dui kahite lāgilā

Jayapatākā Swami: After speaking these words, Caitanya Mahāprabhu stood up, and He raised His lotus arms, and began to speak as follows.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.242

“jagannātha mahāprabhu, ei mora vara
gaṅgā praveśuka ei kūpera bhitara

Jayapatākā Swami: “O Lord Jagannātha Mahāprabhu, give Me the benediction that the Ganges may enter into this well.”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.243

bhogavatī gaṅgā ye āchena pātālete
tāṅre ājñā kara ei kūpe praveśite”

Jayapatākā Swami: “O Lord Jagannātha, Please order the Bhagavati Gaṅgā, which flows in Pātālaloka, to enter this well.”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.244

sarva bhakta-gaṇa śrī-mukhera vākya śuni'
ucca kari' balite lāgilā hari-dhvani

Jayapatākā Swami: When all the devotees heard these words from the Lord's lotus mouth, they began to loudly chant the holy name of Hari. Hari Bol! Hari Bol!

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.245

tabe kata-kṣaṇe prabhu vāsāya calilā
bhakta-gaṇa sabe giyāśayana karilā

Jayapatākā Swami: After a while Lord Caitanya departed for His residence, and the all devotees went to take rest.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.246

gaṅgāra prabhura ājñā-pālana—
sei-kṣaṇe gaṅgādevīājñā kari' śire
pūrṇa hai' praveśilā kūpera bhitare

Jayapatākā Swami: Then, Gaṅgādevī accepting the order of the Lord's on her head fully, she entered into that well.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.247

prabhāte kūpa nirmala-jale paripūrṇa—
prabhāte uṭhiyā sabe dekhena adbhuta
parama-nirmala-jale paripūrṇa kūpa

Jayapatākā Swami: In the early morning all devotees arose and saw a wonderful thing —Paramānanda Purī's well had become filled with crystal-clear water.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.248

purī-gosvāmī o bhaktagaṇera ānanda—
āścarya dekhiyā `hari' bale bhakta-gaṇa
purī gosāñi hailā ānande acetana

Jayapatākā Swami: The devotees seeing this wonder, began chanting the names of Hari. Haribol! Haribol! And Parmānanda Purī Gosvāmī, He lost consciousness in spiritual ecstasy. So, by Lord Caitanya’s mercy, the well of Paramānanda Purī had become filled with sweet Ganges water. Since the well was very close to the ocean, it was salty and muddy and by the mercy of Lord Caitanya it became filled with pure Ganges water. Even today that well is still having pure water.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.249

sakalera kupa pradakṣiṇa—
gaṅgāra vijaya sabe bujhiyā kūpete
kūpa pradakṣiṇa sabe lāgilā karite

Jayapatākā Swami: When they understood that the Ganges had entered the well, the devotees started to circumambulate the well.

Purport: The word vijaya means “arrival.”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.250

mahāprabhura āgamana—
mahāprabhu śuniyā āilā sei kṣaṇe
jala dekhi' parama-ānanda-yukta mane

Jayapatākā Swami: Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, when He heard the news,He came to that place. When He saw the pure water, He was greatly pleased.

e kūpera jale ye karibe snāna pāna
satya satya haiba tāra gaṅgā-snāna-phala
kṛśṇa-bhakti haiba tāra parama nirmala”

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya said, “Listen to me, all devotees, one who bathes or drinks the water of this well truly they will get the fruit of bathing in the Ganges; and they will get purified to have pure devotion of Śrī Kṛṣṇa.”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.253

prabhura vākye bhaktagaṇera haridhvani—
Haribol! sarva bhakta-gaṇa śrī-mukhera vākya śuni'
ucca kari' balite lāgilā hari-dhvani

Jayapatākā Swami: When all the devotees heard these transcendental words from the lotus mouth of the Lord, they began to chant loudly the hole names of Hari. Hari Bol!

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.254

purī gosāñira kūpe sei divya jale
snāna pāna kare prabhu mahā-kutūhale

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya would take the divine water from Parmānanda Purī Gosvāmī's well. He would bath and drink that water very joyfully.

Jayapatākā Swami: “I belong to Paramānada Purī Gosvāmī. There is no doubt about this. If Paramānada Purī likes he can even sell Me.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.257

sakṛt ye dekhe purī gosāñire mātra
seha haibeka śrī-kṛṣṇera prema-pātra”

Jayapatākā Swami: “If one sees Paramānada Purī Gosvāmī even one time, he becomes qualified to attain love for Sri Kṛṣṇa.”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.258

kūpa dhanya kari' prabhu calilā vāsāre

Jayapatākā Swami: After glorifying Paramānanda Purī to everyone and after making his well auspicious Lord Caitanya returned to His residence.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.259

prabhura purī-gosāñi-māhātmya-varṇana kṛtaghna ke?—
īśvara se jāne bhakta-mahimā bāḍā'te
hena prabhu nā bhaje kṛtaghna kona mate

Jayapatākā Swami: The Supreme Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu knows how to increase the glories of His devotees. Such a Lord Only a person who is most ungrateful and unfortunate will not worship Lord Caitanya.

Purport: See Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (3.4.17 and 10.48.26).

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.260

bhagavānera bhakta-vātsalya—
bhakta-rakṣā lāgi' prabhu kare avatāra
niravadhi bhakta-saṅge karena vihāra

Jayapatākā Swami: He protects His devotees. Lord Caitanya is enjoying transcendental pastimes with them.

Purport: See Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (10.14.20 and 3.2.15-16).

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.261

prākṛta-nīti-vigarhita kārya kariyāo bhakta-prīti-nītira śreṣṭhatā-pracāraka bhagavān—
akartavya kare nija sevaka rākhite
tāra sākṣī vāli vadhe sugrīva-nimitte

Jayapatākā Swami: For the sake of His devotees, the Lord may do something which is not considered proper. Example of this how he killed Vāli on the request of Sugrīva.

Purport: The word akartavya means “that which is considered improper in this material world.” Another reading of this verse is:

“Who can describe the Lord's affection for His devotees? For the sake of His devotees, the Lord performs activities that may be considered improper.”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.262

sevakera dāsya prabhu kare nijānande
ajaya caitanya-siṁha jine bhakta-vṛnde

Jayapatākā Swami: The Lord derives ecstasy to serve His devotees. Caitanya-siṁha is normally unconquerable but He can be conquered by His devotees.

Purport: See Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (10.86.59 and 10.9.19).

Jayapatāka Swami: So, Lord Caitanya, he is transcendental and He is independent but He likes to serve His devotees. So such a Master who is so merciful to His devotees, that who is so foolish that they will not serve such a Master? Lord Caitanya came down from the spiritual world just to satisfy and give pleasure to his devotees

Hare Kṛṣṇa!
