ānandita mahāprabhu āche nīlācale

gaurāguṇa gāore gāore saba bhuvana-maṅgala

Jayapatākā Swami: Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu lives in Nīlācala Jagannātha Purī very happily, He chants with His devotees Hari's qualities and saṅkīrtana.

The transcendental qualities of Lord Gaura, the chanting! Chanting! makes the whole universe whole world auspicious.

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.71

Jayapatākā Swami: Lord Caitanya, He joined with many devotees there. Lord Gaurarāya manifested many eternally new pastimes.

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.72

henai samaye kathā kahiba ekhane
pratāpa-rudrere kṛpā kaila yena mane

Jayapatākā Swami: At that time, I will tell now the story of how King Pratāparudra was given mercy by Lord Caitanya.

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.73

lokamukhe śuni’ rājā mahāprabhura guṇa
āścaryya mānaye se nā kahe kichu punaḥ

Jayapatākā Swami: King Pratāparudra heard from many people’s mouths Caitanya Mahāprabhu's glories. King Pratāparudra was filled with wonder. Still, he did not say a word about this.

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.74

ekadina gelā jagannātha dekhibāre
jagannātha nā dekhaye-dekhe nyāsibare

Jayapatākā Swami: One day King Pratāparudra went to have darśana of Lord Jagannātha. But on that day, he did not see Lord Jagannātha instead, He saw a sannyāsī.

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.75

ki ki bali’ mane guṇe vismita hiyāya
paḍichāke puche rājā-ki dekhaha rāya

Jayapatākā Swami: "Who is He? Who is He? the king thought. His heart was bewildered. The King asked his attendant: Whom do you see on the altar?”

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.76

paḍichā kahaye-deva jagannātha dekhi
rājā kahe-to sabhāke vyartha āmi rākhi

Jayapatākā Swami: The attendant replied to the King, I see Lord Jagannātha. The king said: I am dissatisfied with what all of you say.

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.77

jagannātha sthāne nyāsi basi’ āche hera
mora daṇḍabhaye kichu nā dekhiye bola

Jayapatākā Swami: “In the place of Lord Jagannātha I see a sannyāsī sitting there. Being afraid that I will punish you, you do not tell me what you truly see.”

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.78

āṁkhi tāḍimu yena hena nahe kabhu
nahe bā ki dekha satya kari’ kaha tabhu

Jayapatākā Swami: “I will never punish you. Now tell me whom do you see in truth."

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.79

Jayapatākā Swami: Hearing these words the attendant replied, "I can see only Lord Jagannātha. I do not see anyone but Him.”

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.80

tabe ta’ pratāparudra guṇe mane mane
sannyāsīke kene dekhi āmāra nayane

Jayapatākā Swami: Then King Pratāparudra thought and thought again, “Why do I see a sannyāsī, with my eyes?”

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.81

śuniyāchi sannyāsīra mahimā-apāra
ihāra kāraṇa tabhu kariba vicāra

Jayapatākā Swami: “I heard the unlimited glories of this sannyāsī for this reason I will consider this.”

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.82

eteka guṇiyā rājā calila satvara
āpani calilā yathā āche nyāsibara

Jayapatākā Swami: Thinking in this way the king hurried to the place and went to the place where the sannyāsī Lord Gaura was staying.

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.83

dekhila ṭoṭāye nyāsī āche nija mele
vṛndāvana-kathā kahe- hari hari bole

Translation: The king saw Lord Caitanya in the Ṭoṭa-Gopīnātha temple, as a sannyāsī, surrounded by the devotees. He was talking about Vrndavana and He was chanting Haribol! Haribol!

Jayapatākā Swami: He saw a sannyāsī sitting in the altar but His attendants only saw Lord Jagannātha so he was confused why is he seeing a sannyāsī. Then he heard that Lord Caitanya had unlimited good qualities, so he wondered, is this one of Lord Caitanya’s transcendental qualities?

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.84

punarapi jagannātha dekhi’ ārabāra.
dekhila sannyāsī sei sumeru ākāra

Jayapatākā Swami: Again, the king went to see Lord Jagannātha. Instead, he saw a sannyāsī who had a form like the golden mount Sumeru.

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.85

dekhiyā rājāra bhela hiyā-camatkāra
ei jagannātha sei nyāsi-avatāra

Jayapatākā Swami: Seeing this vision again the King’s heart was filled with wonder. He thought that “This Lord Jagannātha has descended to this world in the form of this sannyāsī."

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.86

Jayapatākā Swami: King Pratāparudra's heart became filled with love. Quickly he left to see the greatly fortunate Lord Caitanya.

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.87

ṭoṭāya nāhika keho-bhāṅgila deoyāna
govindere kahe rājā kātara-bayāna

Jayapatākā Swami: No person was present in the Ṭoṭa-Gopīnātha temple. The king felt broken. The king spoke to Lord Gaurāṅga's servant Govinda, these sorrowful words:

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.88

kona mate dekho muñi gosāñira caraṇa
ihāra upāya more kaha mahājana

Jayapatākā Swami: “In which way will I see the lotus feet of the Gosvāmī who was here before? O great soul please tell me the way.”

Caitanya-Maṅgala, Śeṣa-khaṇḍa 3.89

govinda kahaye—rājā nā hao kātara
ekhāne nā pābe dekhā-haila anavasara

kakhana āsiba muñi kaha mahābhāga
kātara-bayāna rājā bāḍhe anurāga
