The following is a lecture given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on April 23, 2006 – in Leicester, UK. The lecture begins with a reading from Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 1.3.3.
Translation by His Divine Grace Śrīla Abhaycharaṇāravinda Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda: It is believed that all the universal planetary systems are situated on the extensive body of the puruṣa, but He has nothing to do with the created material ingredients. His body is eternally in spiritual existence par excellence.
Purport: The conception of the virāṭ-rūpa or viśva-rūpa of the Supreme Absolute Truth is especially meant for the neophyte, who can hardly think of the transcendental form of the Personality of Godhead. To him a form means something of this material world, and therefore an opposite conception of the Absolute is necessary in the beginning to concentrate the mind on the power extension of the Lord. As stated above, the Lord extends His potency in the form of the mahat-tattva, which includes all material ingredients. The extension of power by the Lord and the Lord Himself personally are one in one sense, but at the same time the mahat-tattva is different from the Lord. Therefore the potency of the Lord and the Lord are simultaneously different and nondifferent. The conception of the virāṭ-rūpa, especially for the impersonalist, is thus nondifferent from the eternal form of the Lord. This eternal form of the Lord exists prior to the creation of the mahat-tattva, and it is stressed here that the eternal form of the Lord is par excellence spiritual, or transcendental to the modes of material nature. The very same transcendental form of the Lord is manifested by His internal potency, and the formation of His multifarious manifestations of incarnations is always of the same transcendental quality, without any touch of the mahat-tattva.
Thus ends Canto 1, chapter 3, text 3 of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam translation purport by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda in the matter of ‘Kṛṣṇa is the source of all incarnations.’
Jayapatākā Swami: So here’s going to be a description. Of so many different incarnations and the first incarnation is the Virata Rūpa that this material world, this material universe is manifested and in one sense it’s a kind of form of the Lord.
In the second Canto of Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, the Vrada Rūpa is described in a whole chapter. It’s a meditation for the neophyte devotees to get a picture of how great Kṛṣṇa is. Sometimes you come right to the form of the Lord playing on the flute. And they don’t appreciate that all the other forms, including this Vyata Rūpa, are existing in the form of Kṛṣṇa. That Kṛṣṇa has got unlimited potency at the same time is very personal, accessible, loving, beautiful, sweet. So the meditation begins from the Virata Rūpa, the universal form, the great. The expanses of the universe, the stars, the planets, the mountains, the trees, the rivers, all the natural opulences of this material world. They’re all different parts of the Virata Rūpa. The demigods, the human beings, the animals, different creatures that exist, including the dinosaurs. People are infatuated with dinosaurs.
It’s part of the Virata Rūpa. So, But here in this verse, so it explains that there is viratarupa. Next verse, also about Virata Rūpa. Thousands of arms, legs. Kṛṣṇa saw a form of the universal form in the Bhagavad Gītā. The devotees are aware of that. We were just reading the chapter on Virata Rūpa in the second canto and I was thinking about how. This kind of meditation for the people in the New Age movement. New Age. I don’t know if it’s called a movement or what kind of alternative people. It’s very relevant today because when you say that. Anyone needs one. They told me this morning that all the English people can walk out in this cold weather with their T shirts and doesn’t affect them. But see, gotta watch out, just come.
Back, come from India.
Our thermostat got reset. India’s 35 year 7.
Part of the Virata Swarup.
Part of the Virata Swarup. All the differences. We had this with Bhakti Sarubdamadar Maharaj in 1997, January 1, as part of the Prabhupāda centennial, he had a synthesis of science and religion in Calcutta, the birthplace of Śrīla Prabhupāda. One of the interests and concerns of the scientists was that which religion is more environmentally friendly. In terms of their doctrines. They say, well, the Christians are not doing a great job with the world in terms of the what’s happening with the industrial exploitation of the planet. Somehow they remain silent. But in the Vedic doctrine, because we say, well, the whole universe is a form of the Lord and we shouldn’t do things that destroy the ecological balance as part of our Philosophy so they appreciate it.
In fact, the last keynote speaker, who was the dean of Dartsmouth in Northeast America, very famous university, one of the Ivy League, Harvard, Yale, if I got, if I remember correctly, something very. In a very esteemed university, his topic was, okay, the Vedic culture, the Hindu tradition, the Vedic culture has demonstrated that in their doctrines the universe is something which needs to be preserved. We like to hear from the other religions, what are they going to do to come up to the mark. What are they going to do to improve their relationship with the universe? Because it was represented from different. We have Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, everybody science. We have physicists, chemists. So it’s very interesting.
So so many thoughts come in my mind whenever I see the universal form that it’s actually we kind of skip over it when we get quickly to Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes. But it’s a very good platform for preaching because it ties us into this whole environmental vision that the universe, if we see the universe as a form of Kṛṣṇa, then that means that we shouldn’t be very violent and destructive with the universe because it’s also a form of Kṛṣṇa. It’s a balance that’s sustaining life and the universe. Now they say that the currents in the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean are changing because of the environmental damage that’s being done. And that one day it may, if these currents shift enough. Like England is getting a lot of warm currents and that’s what keeps it from freezing as much as other northern states that are equally.
England’s quite far north. But it doesn’t actually get that cold in the winter. And it says that if this switches, it will be like a glacier freeze over of England and many parts of central Europe. So it’s a very relevant vision that we see for the today’s modern concern that the universe is actually a form of God. It’s his external form, it’s not his transcendental form. He has a transcendental form which is excellent, which is transcendental, spiritual. Nothing to do with the three modes, nothing to do with the material world. But he also has this material world is not alienated or separated from Him. It’s an extension of his energy. And therefore it should be used and his service should be used properly.
So many days were discussing all these things in Mayapuram and this happens at this verse here would just be two verses and it skips over and goes through all the different 24 different incarnations or so are mentioned in this chapter of the first Canto. In the second canto, the whole chapter is dedicated to Virata Rūpa and then it goes into other incarnations also.
The.
Virata Rūpa the impersonalist. It’s also a way to bring an impersonalist a little more personal. At least Vedānta Rūpa has some personal feature that it’s a form of the Lord. Its arms, legs are envisioned and then you go from that point to the other forms of the Lord which are transcendental the Satchitananda forms there’s the different forms and animal shapes. Animal form there’s like the tortoise in Kankurma. A few years ago went to the Kurma Desh in Andhra Pradesh. About two hours drive from Visakhapatnam there’s the temple of Kurmadev. You were there with us on that. It’s the only Kurma temple india they claim. No one ever told me that there was another one. That’s what they claim. Kurma was the form that they churned the ocean with a mountain on its back. It’s an itchy back.
So the devas and the demons were all doing a service back scratch. So the demons were all the motives, all they wanted to get the nectar. The demons said that they could enjoy sense gratification forever. The Devas was a little mixed sense gratification and service to the Lord but indirectly everybody was serving the Lord. So there’s different forms of the Lord in animal forms but he’s still sat chit Anandu. He’s transcendental, he’s not animal. And this korma for him initially they thought it was a Shiva linga and they were worshipping him like a Shiva linga pouring water. And then Ramanujacharya came and revealed that he’s got four legs. Shiva lingas don’t have legs and that he’s actually the tortoise incarnation. And we snuck a photo. We’re not supposed to take any photos but somebody broke the rules. We have the slideshow of that safari.
We went to many Narasinga temples. That was our Narasinga safari. We went to 11 Narasinga temples and one Kurma temple. So when Lord Chaitanya was there he was very ecstatic seeing the Kurma Daymdini and he was staying at the house of one rich congregational member. The congregational member told him that you say I have a big house, I have land, I have cows, I have money, I have children, I have a beautiful wife, I have social status and everything you can ask for materially But I am not feeling happy so I am Thinking I want to leave everything and join you. Come on like Sannyāsī, travel with you. And then Lord Caitanya told them, I never want to hear such nonsense from you again. You’re talking like monkey. Renunciate Markda Vairagi. You don’t like your material life. You’re not feeling happy, so you want to renounce.
What are you renouncing? If you liked your material life and you wanted to renounce it because that’s renunciation. But you’re not happy with it, so you want to renounce. Later on it may look better to you and you will go back again. Try once more time. One more time. So we don’t recommend that people should leave their responsibilities. Rather what you should do, use all this asset that you have in material life to spread Kṛṣṇa consciousness. And he gave that famous instruction. Jakob Tari Koho Kṛṣṇa Pradesh Amaragya Guruhaya Tarohi Desh. Wherever you meet Jadi Danko Tari Kot tell them about the message Kṛṣṇa Upadea, the instructions of Lord Kṛṣṇa. Be a guru and deliver the people in your place, your Desh, your country. So that all happened at Kurma Desh. A lot of things happen in Kurma Desh.
When went there then for some reason Kurmadev is looking to the west where the temple. Gate is on the east. So they have two Garuḍa Stambas, one on the west and one on the east. I can’t remember why. They said somehow Kormadev turned around. What was that pastime? I don’t remember if they even told us. They said that Kurma Dev is very good for removing the obstacles that come up from the previous lives. If you ever face some kind of just difficulty that comes up, you can’t figure out where it’s coming from. It’s just smashing it. Unpredictable difficulties. Ever had that kind of situation in your life? So Kurma Dev removes those type of obstacles. So everybody wanted a Kurma Dev amulet, right? Okay, that’s a good one. You got one. Still you got an amulet of Karmadave. You missed out. That’s your problem.
You were there.
Unfortunately not that.
Kormadev was there too. Maybe not Safari. They’re inviting me to go on the 30th of March of April when I go back from here to Visakhapatnam to the Narasiṁha temple, Shinha Shalom. Then let’s also go back to Gharib. The Simha Shalom is from the previous yoga when Prahlad, he was praying to Narasingadeva that I saw you and you delivered my father but you also delivered my uncle Hiranyaksha as boar incarnation. So if I could see you as the boar incarnation also because I didn’t see that it happened in outer space. Big fight. I was just a little kid in my gurukul. So he showed Prahlad his form as the boar. Then he assumed the deity form as. Half boar and half lion and half human. Somehow three halves much. Yeah, everything’s possible for Kṛṣṇa.
They say one plus one equals one in the spiritual world. So one half plus one half also equals one. Maybe there’s a slightly different combination. But part boar, part lion and part human. So that deity stays covered, is very hot, is very angry because he just killed the Narasinga. He killed the Iranian Kashipu killed. So they keep him covered with lots of sandalwood. Only the one day called Akshay Tritya, which falls this year on the 30th of April, all the sandalwood is taken off and he’s bathed for 12 hours. He’s without sandalwood. They want me to go and have darshant. It’s a special. There’s 100,000 people trying to get darshan. I don’t know how they’re going to get me in there, but they said that they pull a special. This deity is millions of years old from the previous Satya Yuga.
And right after this Darshandhan, they cover it with 145 kilos of sandalwood polyp or 45 kilos. And then every three months they cover again with 45. So somehow the Andes got like 245. I don’t know, I didn’t work out the math, but it was some. I don’t remember all the numbers, but it comes to some. Over 200 kilos of sandalwood pulp by the end of the year. And from that. So this Akshaya treatiya is also a special day that anything you do spiritual, pious, even on that day will last to the end of the universe. As long as you’re in the material world, you get to benefit from that recurring deposit. That’s the anniversary day of the commencement of SATA yoga. Śānta Yuga always commences on that titi. Once I was waiting in Māyāpur. No, I wasn’t waiting. I was out preaching.
I came back to Māyāpur late, after 10 o’. Clock and there was some families waiting for me. And I said, what you doing up? You’re standing there, you know, you don’t expect to See your life members, guests waiting at 10:30. No, I said today is Akshay Tritha. We have been waiting for you the whole day to give you a donation. Because if we give you a donation today, it will last till the end of the universe. So it’s worth waiting. If you want to do a fundraiser for your temple. That’s the day anyone who’s in the know, okay, give something then. I got up the second floor and there was another family waiting. Things you don’t know here in England, probably never heard about it. You heard about it. It’s a good day to have special activities. Look on the calendar. It’s Akshay Treaty.
It will be the third day of the month of Madhusuddham, Same 30th. And this month of Baishak is also like Dhamadar. So Dhammadar is more like just for spiritual activities. But Baishak is for spiritual and pious activities. You get 100 times the benefit. That’s why a lot of the Indians are vegetarian. And that month, Dhammadara and that month are two months to recommend it for people. I mean, people that are not normally vegetarian. That month they make a special effort. But now that’s also been gradually forgotten. But if you remind them my grandmother used to do, it’s a good month to go and do house kirtans in Malaysia. I am trying to get them. We should write them a message. We want them to start not only Dhammadar month, but start Baishak month, Madusuddhan month, Dhammada month.
They do, because there you get a hundred times the benefit for the month of Dhammadara. So each namhat, they have almost about 90 Namhata. Each Namhat does every week an outreach program where they go to somebody’s house and do kīrtana for half an hour. So Overall, they did 500. And how many? 580 Or something. I remember any over 500. Nearly 600. Nearly 600? Yeah, it was nearly 600. So how many friends you meet? They bring their neighbors and come over and you do a kīrtana and, I don’t know, short lecture, read a verse of Bhagavad Gītā and kīrtana, something very simple. So it’s very good for the new people. They get a special blessing because they had a kīrtana in their house. If you ask someone, we’d like to. This is a month you get 100 times the benefit.
It removes all kinds of bad karmas and helps you get good fortune. Would you like us to come over and chant for an hour in your house? Have heart. Most people will say sure, come on. Even Westerners wouldn’t mind. They’re a little open minded. So this month of Baishak is also two months in the year. You get hundred. But people don’t know about Baishak. Devotees don’t know it’s in the Padma Purāṇa but it’s in the Haribhakti Bilas also. So this month is special because it has Akshay Tritya, it has Narasinga Chatur Dāsī, it has Chandan Yātrā has a lot of festivals. And this month from this Akshay Trithaya they also put in Nar Māyāpur they start putting the sandalwood on the didi there they put sandalwood on Rādhā Mādhava. The devotees, all the boys, girls, young and old. Everybody makes sandalwood pulp.
Two buckets a day. They need big buckets, I mean big ones. You know how much it is to make a little sand noises? You got day and night people there, just, you know, about five, six spots there and everyone’s grinding away. Lord Mādhava turns golden colored because he gets covered with the sandal. Then it dries and becomes yellow so it looks like Goranga. Then the next day they distribute the sandal with palp. Hey, I got the Mayapura prasad. There’s not enough for everybody. We should reward the people that came to Bhāgavatam class. Who would like Māyāpur prasad here? You can tell the others you didn’t come to Bhāgavatam class. Eat your harno. So Padma Purāṇa tells the glories of the month of Bhaikha which is Manusuddham for the Hindus. Some of them already started last week Baishak. Some started from an Akadasi.
We start from the Pūrṇimā. And there says that there was a Brahmin with a beautiful, faithful, wonderful, chaste wife. But somehow they couldn’t have any children. And somehow he was very poor. She was frustrated. Why I am not able to, you know why we’re not able to have children. It’s very frustrating. And she says, well look at it the other way. You never know. There’s five kinds of children. You get a child because of bad karma. Maybe in a previous life you did some bad karma. And so you get a child which is coming to as the form of your bad karma to create you some hassle. Then there’s also enemies. Somebody that’s your enemy took a vow that I want to Become their child just to create them troubles. Enemy child who is just against the family from the word go. Then there’s the.
Debtor child. You owe somebody money, you took money from them, didn’t pay them back. So the way they come is your child to get paid back. So they’re in the mood of not giving, but taking. Give me, give me. Dad, mom, give me, give. You know someone like that? Then you have the suputra, who is very good. Religious, faithful, cooperative. They want to help their parents. When the parents die, they perform srod ceremonies, the supuja. They actually deliver the parents, even if they get. Then there’s the fifth kind is called udasin, meaning they don’t care. They’re not against the family. They’re not for the family. They’re not. They. They’re like detached unassim. So. Got a plate? So you only got one out of four or five shots to get a good one. So you don’t know. What do you say?
We don’t have a child. But at least you don. You don’t have a bad one either. You don’t have any child. So at least you can look at it the good way. So she was a very philosophical lady. I mean, how many ladies? She’s looking at it very positively. But then he said, well, I don’t have any money either. You’re suffering so much. I think I go and get a job somewhere overseas. India. How many people want to get a job overseas? I was reading in the paper, don’t go to UK if you’re a doctor because there’s no more doctor jobs. A few years ago they advertised a big shortage of doctors. Now they sound regulation. But this was a long time ago. So I don’t know if they needed doctors in the UK then or if there was even a uk.
Okay.
So he said, I am going to go get a job somewhere. Go, go out, do some business and say, look, that’s not a good idea right now. We don’t have money, we don’t have kids, but at least we have each other. If you go out and work somewhere, I won’t even have a husband. I will just be sitting here alone. Who knows if you make money or not. At least we’d be together. I don’t think it’s a good idea. You go out and. Keep you awake.
Anticipation. Want to know the story?
I mean, yes, you want to know the rest of the story? Anticipation.
So.
She said, actually, I heard that nearby, in a nearby village, the great Rishi Vasishta has come. He’s a tree colored yam. He can see the past, present and future. If you go to him, he will tell you why we don’t have children and why we don’t have money and what we can do to solve it. I think that’s a better solution. Go to the guru rather than going to UK or something. From Ireland they went to America during the potato revolution. I don’t know. Something. Potato crisis, hunger.
That was when all the potatoes rotted. Rotted because of a fungus. I think it was damp, winter.
Something, something. Potato. Potato problem. Potatoes to rot. Everyone starved in Ireland because the British.
Were getting all the food, the other food from Ireland to feed their army. The British were actually the ones to starve the Irish.
That’s right. Why?
Well, for the same reason as when you went to India.
Anyway, that’s the potato pastime. You want to hear the rest of the Baishak month pastime? So then he went to see Vasishtha Muni, offered him respect, worship, paid his obeisances. Then he revealed that I am facing these difficulties in my life. We don’t have children, we don’t have any good. We don’t have any good income. Could you tell me why am I suffering like this? And why is and what is the solution? So he went into meditation. He said, well, in your previous life, you were a rich śūdra. You had done a business of dairy. You made a lot of money selling milk. But you didn’t spend any money on your wife. Husbands. Take this. You didn’t get her nice clothes or anything. You didn’t spend any money on your kids. They were all living in poverty. You took your money and buried it.
When you died, nobody even knew where you buried it. They all stayed without any pension, without any kind of sustenance. So because you were such a miser in this life, you don’t have any money and you don’t have any children. Wow, that makes sense. I was such a bad guy. But how did I get such a good wife in this life? She’s so spiritual and so philosophical. And how did I get to be born as a Brāhmaṇa? Let’s see. Your whole life you didn’t do anything good, basically, except one thing. One thing. For three days in the month of Baishak, you invited a Vaishnava to your house and you fed him. And there were some kirtans and bhajans and different kinds of spiritual activities going on. Because of that credit, you became born in a Brahmin family.
And you got a good wife for three days. Then he said, what’s the solution now? I said, well, you got seven days. It’s a month of Baishak. And you got seven days left in the month. If you practice for seven days, that may change your whole karma. So they went back and started devotional service for seven days in the month of Baishat. He got children, good children. Suputras got money. And he stayed in a devotional service and went back to Godhead at the end of his life. You’re welcome, Maharashtra. I am welcome for what? They had me. I could have stayed in somebody’s house. But they had me stay in Kṛṣṇa’s house. It was good for me. Kṛṣṇa doesn’t need the good karma.
So.
I tell even this story for the month of Damodar. But it actually relates with the month of Bhaishak. People that want children, people that want advancement in their spiritual life or in general. This is an important month to be very Kṛṣṇa conscious.
Of course.
Once I wrote the Prabhupāda, what should we do special for the month of Ramadan for Māyāpur. And he wrote back and he said it’s a folio. He said that for the devotees. They’re doing 16 rounds Mangalayati. The whole morning program. They’re doing all the things every day. The temple devotees say you’re already doing everything. So this is especially to attract new customers. People that are living outside that don’t maybe have a strict Sarah or don’t have any practice to encourage them to start. This is like a shop that has regular customers. The regular customers are coming all the time. So sometimes they have sales not for the regular customers but to attract new customers. So he said this is like the month of Dharmadar is like an opportunity. You get 100%. A 99% discount. In a Mercedes Benz shop. 199% Disc.
Instead of paying how much you have to pay £30,000. You pay 300 and 3300. £300 For a Mercedes Benz. Good deal. Doctors in the shock. Small polo Bharat.
I go small cow.
Polo. I don’t know what this. Somehow you get the idea. For a little effort in Kṛṣṇa service you get a big return. I know all you’re detached from Kayaras and material things. But. So this is the beginning of the month of Baishak in a few days. Depends which way you calculate it. If you do the Vedic, we have the month of Medusuddhan. Material name is Bhaishad. We did a program india in the middle east of bishu they call it in south India Bishu this time. So Kṛṣṇa gives us some bonus periods. So tell all the people in the we tell all the people at the seminar. Look at that. From which words it must be the 27th. Then from the 27th I can start doing Māyāpur. Last five days of Dhammadhara Bhishma Panchak.
You can either take unspiced kitchen for five days or you can take fruits and roots for five days or you can take five products of a cow in a special way in five days. And then there’s bathe every day in the Ganges. Do a tarpana and pranam to bhishma deva. Offer a lamp to the dead deity. Offer flower to the different parts of Ram Kṛṣṇa the lotus feet one day at least one day waist one day chest one day the face one day. It says the benefits for doing that are incalculable. We do it Māyā Purāṇa. Multiply that by a thousand. I got devotees flying in from all over the world to do that for America. I am not kidding. Five days demanded spiritual boost. So Kṛṣṇa gives all these bonuses to give devotees the strength to figure.
We used to do the whole four months growing the beard and everything. But then that’s a good preaching time. That’s when they have rath yatras in Europe and festivals. So Prabhupāda encouraged us to preach. So all that’s compressed into five days plus morning. So many devotees do fasts. Why not fast Fridays for its own roots. You can take bath in the Ganges by mantra by shouting loudly the word Gaṅgā three times. Gaṅgā, Gaṅgā. Feel bathed. They do it manas anywhere in the world. I guess so we try to. That’s maybe the only thing I do. Plus of course we do all these Janmastami narasinga chhatra dāsī. Now narsinga chhatra dāsī is we’re making a big international festival three day festival wherever india around that time this year it’s 11, 12 and 13. We also bathe Narasinga dev with essential oils.
So the Lord has all these different forms and some forms are transcendental like the Maharshenga, Matsya, karma, Ramakṛṣṇa, Balaram.
And.
The bird Rūpa is external form. So these transcendental forms of Lord are meant for our upliftment. So I hope everybody gets all kinds of mercy from the Lord more. I have to have him over. Any questions? Yes, Maharaj.
It’s very easy for us as devotees to Conceive Lord with two arms. And it is also easy to conceive.
Four arm Vishnu form.
But it’s impossible to conceive Kṛṣṇa form how the Lord would look like. Or this material energy is normal. Very difficult to conceive it. How do we get around understanding this matter?
It’s an inconceivable form. It’s your meditation as you’re meditating in the second Canto Bhāgavata. It meditates like all the trees are the hairs in the body it goes through. So it’s a kind of meditation, ecological meditation,.
As in when you talk to somebody.
Well, you can, you could also. It’s a bit complicated. You have to memorize. You can say there’s also a meditation that we see the Lord in his external form and we see the Lord has an internal spiritual form. For some people, the external form may be more easy to understand than the internal. Just like some religions believe in a personal form of God, they’re nirakarists. But they may be able to accept the Virad Rūpa because this external universal form. Is that they’re seeing. It’s okay. This is a manifestation of God’s power. And the power of God is not different from God is different and not different simultaneously. Inconceivably. Obviously you want people to graduate from the universal form to the spiritual forms. That’s why in the same breath, in the same śloka, he’s mentioning here that the spiritual forms are super excellent.
External form is there, it’s great, it’s visual virat, it’s overwhelming. But the spiritual forms which contain the universal form and much more are even better. So he’s already saying that there is this universal form spiritual form. The next verse talks about the material form and then after that he talks all about the spiritual forms.
So Maharaj, I was listening to a class by Prabhupāda where he talks about that we should think of Kṛṣṇa 24 hours a day. And he said of course we can’t. And he said but how can we do it? And he said by being aware of Kṛṣṇa and everything we do. Like when we drink the water, we think of the taste of Kṛṣṇa, when we smell a rose, we think of Kṛṣṇa because of the beautiful smell, etc. Etc. Many practical examples Prabhupāda came with. So is that in a sense the universal form? He’s also referring to in that way?
It’s part of the universal form. It’s part of the universal form. You have a question?
I did. Maybe it’s not relevant to your talk. So I don’t know if I should ask. May I ask? It’s relevant, but it’s not relevant to what you were speaking about earlier.
I see how irrelevant it is. If it’s irrelevantly irrelevant. No, I am just thinking so much space everywhere the hour.
No, no, I didn’t have your association. So you’re of course a resident of Mayapra. And you know Mayapra? Very intimately. I was wondering if you could just share to the one Palestine, especially the Panchatas. Now they have arrived in their wonderful forms.
Here are Panchatatra also.
Here.
Lord Advaita is ready. Smile. Smiling more than Mayanpur. Even Śrīva is smiling very much. These are very smiley deities. Very happy, very ecstatic. Slightly more deeper mood.
These ones are giving to us like this. What do they do in Māyāpur? See this one here they are like this. They pouring out to us love. I do not. I wonder the one in Māyāpur what they do.
They’re also giving love. They’re presenting Lord Chatemya’s mercy. You need more mercy in. Listen. Māyāpur Panshatatva overwhelming. Prabhupāda said to make life size gore Panchitatva and Māyāpur. So we tried to make Lord Chaitanya seven feet tall. From the bottom of his feet to the top of his head with his hands and everything. Maybe nine feet. But the head to seven feet supposed to be life size. All the deities are. Lord Nityānanda is 6 foot 9. Advaita and Śrīvas are 6.6. Trying to make them as close to the original.
In the books they say the hands are right up to the knees like this. Anatomically the hands are there. Why do they keep saying the books?
Because Lord Caitanya’s arms are Ajandu Lambita Bujo. They’re up to his knee. If you measure those hands, they come down to his knees. That’s how long. They’re really long. When they go down, they touch his knees. Because he’s the Lord. He has a slightly different anatomy. It’s human like, but it’s not exactly the proportion. The proportion is slightly different. There’s Vastu and iconography for the deities. There’s a whole proportion. So human being proportion is 7 or 8 on the scale. And Kṛṣṇa’s proportion is 10 and the devas are 9. And a midget is like 4 hobgoblins. So 4, 5, 6 is different. Like Ignatius. Maybe it’s 6. He’s like a little different proportion. So they have the different proportions for deities, so it’s a different proportion for Kṛṣṇa.
So what happened to the old deities?
They’re still there before. Old deities are used as utsav mortis. We bathe them. They’re the bathing deities. They’re so small. They look. They’re bigger. They look bigger when they were there alone. Okay, we’re gonna give out. Come up and get a quick.
