The following is an evening lecture given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on April 25, 2006 – in Mathurādeśa.
Kṛṣṇa was playing with his cowherd boyfriends, the Gopas. They were having good time in the world. The Gopas had faith that Kṛṣṇa would protect them. Therefore, they were furious. When the Aghāsura owns the gigantic snake demon opened his mouth. The cowherd boys entered in the mouth without any fear considering that Kṛṣṇa would protect them. Kṛṣṇa was wondering how will I protect my devotees? They just entered, walking fearlessly into the mouth of the snake Aghāsura. And Kṛṣṇa also entered into the Aghāsura. And through various means he took the light air out of the Aghāsura, slain and saved all his friends. Lord Brahmā came and he had heard that this was Kṛṣṇa, his master. But then he thought that maybe this isn’t. And through various means he took the life hair out of the Aghāsura snake and saved all his friends.
Lord Brahmā came and he had heard that this was Kṛṣṇa his master. But then he thought maybe this isn’t Kṛṣṇa. He looks just like a cowboy boy. Let me test him. And he saw the cats and the covered boys. We have the translation, sir. Where’s Malaya? Hindi. Sama. Malaya tom sam. Took away the calves and the cowherd boys put them in suspended animation and hid them inside a cave. He went away. Then after a minute, after just a moment, he came back. Maybe I had committed an offense that moment. By our time was one year. Many things happened in that year. Kṛṣṇa got married all the cow. Kṛṣṇa expanded himself as all the cowgirl boys in camps. Then all the convert boys were married to all the Gopīs. So all the gopīs were actually Kṛṣṇa’s wives.
Because the conqueror boy were all expansions of fish. Then. All the residents of Vrindavan who loved Kṛṣṇa so much now had Kṛṣṇa as their own son. Because he became the son of the different countered boy lady. Many men and women. So many different things happened. Then Brahma came back. And Brahma was trying to figure out what happened. Is this all the counter voice are still here. But life would the counter voice in the cave. He looked in the cave and said, they’re still there. They’re here. They’re there. They’re here. They’re there. They’re here. They’re there. They’re here. They’re there. They’re here. They’re there. They’re here. They’re there. How is it possible? How can they both be in two places? Maybe when I look here, they’re here. I look there, they’re shifted there. Or maybe there’s a duplicate. Which is the real ones?
I can’t tell. So he got Bewildered by Kṛṣṇa’s mystical power. Kṛṣṇa is Yogeśvara. You know what Yogeśvara means? Yoga is mystical power. Yoga means Lord of all mystical Power, Yogeśvara, Kṛṣṇa. So then Kṛṣṇa, out of his body he manifested so many Brahmās. Thousands and millions of Brahmās were coming, Lakṣmīs were coming. The Brahmā realized that Kṛṣṇa is the source of so many universes, so many Brahmās that he paid his obeisances, He begged forgiveness. In this verse here we have chapter 14. Verses of prayers to Lord Kṛṣṇa. Just as this entire universe, including you, was exhibited within your abdomen, so it is now manifested here externally in the exact same form. How could such things happen unless erased by your inconceivable energy?
Prabhupāda says Kṛṣṇa stressed herein that without accepting the inconceivable energy of the supreme personality of Gandhi, one cannot explain things as they are. Kṛṣṇa has unlimited potencies. His potencies can do things which are inconceivable. That’s his wonderful power. Have you not shown me today that both yourself and everything within this creation are manifested manifestations of your inconceivable potency? First you appeared alone. Then you manifest yourself as all over love and scams and cops and boys, your friends. Next you appeared as an equal number of four handed Vishnu forms who were worshipped by all living beings, including me. And after that you appeared as an equal number of complete universes. Finally, you have now returned to your unlimited form as the supreme Absolute truth, one without a segment. Vedic literature says Sarva, Kalpa and done Brahmā.
Everything exists is an expansion of the personality of guardian. To persons ignorant of your actual transcendental position, you appear as part of the material world, manifesting yourself by the expansion of your inconceivable energy. Thus for the creation of the universe you appear as me Brahma. For its maintenance you appear as yourself Vishnu. And for its annihilation you appear as the Lord. Śrī Nature. Here is explaining the birth part. Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu are expansions of Kṛṣṇa and they all are real. Ultimate truth is supreme and beautiful person and everything, the creation of the Lord. You will always find a personal touch. O Lord, O Supreme Creator and Master. You have no material birth yet. To defeat the false pride of the faithless demons and show mercy to your saintly devotees, you take birth among the Neas, sages, human beings, animals and even the Aquatics.
Among the Devas, Kṛṣṇa appears in such forms as Ramana Deva, among the Sages, as Parsur Raman among human beings as Lord Kṛṣṇa himself and as Lord Ramachandra and Lord Chitandra. And among animals, as the more incarnation Lord Kṛṣṇa appears among the aquatics as Matsya, the gigantic fish. In the plenary expansions of the supreme personality of Godhead, I am no marble. As the Lord relentlessly comes down from the universes to smash the false pride of the atheists and show mercy to the saintly devotees in another saints, the Lord never appears since he exists eternally. His appearance is like that of the sun which is always present in the sky but which periodically appears to our vision. So beautiful prayers were being offered by Lord Brahma. Many, many prayers. A whole chapter of pray. So you are the embodiment of all meditation.
You are the supreme reward, His universe. Unto Kṛṣṇa, The author is prayers, Mother Circumstances, his worshipable Lord, the unlimited personality of God in three kinds. Bow down. And his lowest feet. The appointed creator of the universe returned to his own residence. And Kṛṣṇa took the cows and the calves to the riverside and gave them a bath. Now in māyā 4, Lord Brahma visited. After this happened, there’s a place in the middle of Mayakur called Antar Gwee where Lord Rāma visited. And there he started to meditate the chin on the names of Lord Chaitanya with the purpose of seeing Lord Caitanya. Go Ranga. Go Ranga. Ram. Then Lord Chaitanya appeared to Lord Brahmā. What do you want, my dear Lord Brahma? Why you are calling me? Brahma said that I had just committed an offense to you in Vrindavan. I stole your caps.
I stole your coward voice. I am very offensive. Half of my life is gone. I am in the second half of my life. And I don’t want to commit any more offenses to you. So I want your blessings. This is what I want to beg from you. I hear you’re coming in kali yuga. In 5,000 years. You will be coming 4,500 years. And you’re going to. Give out freely love of Godhead to everyone. I want to come and be in your past times. I want to be one of your associates. I want to. Get free from this tendency to commit offenses to you. I want to get the blessing of love for Kṛṣṇa. Like this he asked for some blessing. Lord Chaitanya said Tatastaha, so be it. You will come as one of my associates and your name. And you will chant every day 300,000 names of Kṛṣṇa.
You will be one of my associates. By chanting these names of Kṛṣṇa, it will awaken love of Kṛṣṇa in your heart. You will be Called as Haridas. And you will be born in a non Hindu family which will teach you humility. So this way you get free from the pride that causes you to commit offenses. You will be my devotee. You will have love of God. Anything you want, you get. So lord brahma came as haridas. And your name will be haridas. Haridas thakur is lord brahma. Brahma, Harida. Sati. You heard this pastime before? Yes. Someone heard it. Who heard this past name before? Many didn’t. So. Every year we have a Navadvik Parikramā during the Navidu festivals for one week we go and visit these holy places. And you hear the pastimes. Can you see that? How many have been on Parikram? One, two, three. Man.
Four. Every year from Damadar Desh, 40, 50. The Lordians fly in for the parikramā. They take one week leave and they join the Parekarma. They’re very active in the Parikramā. Parikramā is because it’s a holy pilgrimage to walk around the nine islands of Navadin Rāma. Each of the nine islands is connected to the nine practices of devotional service. What’s one of the practices of devotional service? Who can sing? You know Practice of devotional service? Śravaṇa. Who knows what’s. What is it? Hearing. Hearing about Kṛṣṇa. Sabanam Kīrtana. What is Kirtanam? Singing. Who likes to sing for Kṛṣṇa? What song you like to sing? Then there’s smart enough. You know what Smarna means? Who knows what Smarna is? Yes. Remembering. Remembering Kṛṣṇa’s past name. How many of you remember Kṛṣṇa’s past name? Very good. If you remember then you’re doing smart enough.
Serve the lotus feet of the Lord. Bandanam. What is Bandanam? What is it? Paying obeisances. Anything else? Praying. Praying for the Lord. How many of you pray for the Lord? How many pay obeisances? Let’s see. O. Then there’s the process of Archanam. You know Archanam? Wow. It’s very smart. Worshiping. That’s what they’re doing right now. Hear that bell? How many can hear the bell? You hear it? Can you hear the bell? Can you hear the bell? You hear it? What are they doing? Pūjā offering. That’s part of Pūjā. So this offering is called Archanam. Archanam. Then there’s Dasil. What’s Dacian? To be a servant of the Lord Sakyam. What is that? How many want the Lord to be your friend? How many Want to be a friend of the Lord. So there’s an island in Navajo for friendship.
Who goes to the island can become a friend of the Lord easily. Then there’s the ninth process of devotional service. The ninth process. There’s number nine. The ladies who are getting more points. Some of the kids over here. Atman. Offering your soul to the Lord. How many want to do Atmani Nilana. Very good. Nandri danya bhat. Nani. So. We hope that Mathurā Desh also can have some devotees come for Parikramā. How many of you want to come? Another day for each. Everybody doesn’t want to come. They didn’t say how many can come. They said how many want to come. Back. And. So this just like Lord Brahma, he made a mistake. He stole from Kṛṣṇa. That means we can also make mistake. Brahma is very difficult to make mistake. But Brahma wanted to correct himself. He wanted to purify himself like that.
We can also purify ourselves by. Kṛṣṇa. Be happy. Make your life perfect. Even if you make a mistake. Don’t think I cannot be a devotee. Think that Lord, I need your mercy. So I can get forgiven for my offense. So I can become a devotee. My Lord’s mercy. Everything is possible. Remember the Lord. He can come in so many forms. In the next month of Vaishar, the Lord comes in which form? Human. Nara simha nara means human. This month of the month of Vaishya which is known as month of Madhusuda is a very holy month. You can change your life in this month. Because you get hundred times the benefit. It’s a very good month. Sam. You can change your future.
In the Purāṇas it said for having a Vaishnava over in the house and having a Kīrtana Yajna, Person with very bad karma got very good results. Just like in the month of Namanar, you get hundred times the benefit for anything spiritual in this age. In this month of Maisha, Madhusudan, from Poornima, from Pratipad to Poornima, you can also get 100 times the benefit. So it’s a good month. In Malaysia, in the month of Namanda, every BTI rickshaw group goes at least once a week to some people’s house and chants K every Namahata. So in the month of Namadar, they do over 580 kīrtana visits to the Lordy’s houses. This is a good way to make new friends. If you ask them, can we chant in your house and give you blessings to get hundred times the blessing.
If you explain all the glories of this month, many people will like it. Many people will like it. So this is a good mark for Kīrtana visions. So it’s a hint, Suggestion with a capital H. This is something you can do for your neighbors. Give them a blessing. Short kid, half hour. Does anyone have a question? Do you have a question? No, no question. Who has a question? Your hand. Do they have a question? This man over here, Khadi, have a question? This man over here. These ladies, they have a question. They have a question. They have question. We have a question. Who has question? How he spends the day? You don’t have enough time. Depends how old Fishman is. He has forms of different ages. He has a baby form then he. He has a small child form. He steals butter.
He has a young Kumar for 5, 6 years old. He goes out with the calves to the forest and plays with his friends, the cowered boys. He has a farm where he is 8 and 9 years old. And when he’s 7 years old he lives Gore God Hill. Sometimes he kills a demon, protects his devotees. When he gets a little older, about seven, then he starts to ask Levi in the night. It’s always full of surprises. So. Brother Ali to go out and meet Kṛṣṇa. Her mother-in-law doesn’t love her. But then someone told that she should worship Sūrya-Day every day was for your son to be healthy. So she said okay, she can go to Surya Kunda and worship Surya Day. But she would go on her way to Sūrya-kuṇḍa.
She would go to Rādhā-kuṇḍa and go Verdun and have different pastimes. One day she got the message that her mother-in-law was waiting in Syria kingdom. So she went with the Lita to Surya Kunde and her brother said, why you are so late? What have you been doing? She said, no, were looking for a brāhmaṇa to do the pūjā. But there seems to be some festival going on and all the Brahmanas are busy so we have to look. We can only find one young brāhmaṇa. So Kṛṣṇa king dressed up like a brāhmaṇa and the mother-in-law by Kṛṣṇa lose the importance. He couldn’t tell that it was Kṛṣṇa so he is going to do the pūjā. I said, okay, you do the Pūjā. So then Kṛṣṇa did the sūrya-pūjā.
And like his every day so many amazing pastimes are happening in Vṛndāvana. I mainly study Lord Caitanya’s pastimes. But Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes also are. Since there is a popular demand, I will read some more of Kṛṣṇa’s paradise.
