The following is a lecture given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on May 6, 2006 – in Śrī Māyāpur, India. The lecture begins with a reading from Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 2.5.8.

My dear father, you know everything and you are the controller of all. Therefore, may all that I have inquired from you be kindly instructed to me so that I may be able to understand it as your student. It was. Translation by Śrīla Prabhupāda Purport by Śrīla Prabhupāda the inquiries made by Nārada Muni are very important for everyone concerned. And as such, Narad requested Brahmaji to deem them suitable. So that all others who may come in the line of disciplic succession of the Brahma Sampradāya may also know them properly without any difficulty. Ādi o Tatsat Canto 2, Chapter 5, text 8 Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, the cause of all causes Translation Purport By His Divine grace, AC Bhaktived Vedānta Swami Prabhupāda the questions asked by Naraj, he was praying that they be useful in the future. They will be easily understood. This is very important.

Frivolous and whimsical questions  will not serve any useful purpose. But questions and the absolute truth. Are very useful. So Prabhupāda went to many television stations, radio stations. But in the end he showed a disinterest. They don’t ask any good questions. He asked questions like why do you wear the white paint on your nose? Why do you shave your hair? Why do you wear red robes? It’s already external things shows where their level of consciousness was at. But Nārāyaṇa is asking Brahma, you have all this creative ability. You’re able to create everything. I thought you were the Supreme. But I noticed that you meditate on the supreme, on someone very deeply. You’re meditating, you’re doing worship. So who is really the Supreme? This is very observant. Of course, in Brahma, if you just observe him creating a universe, it’s very impressive.

Looks like he must be the creator of the universe. He must be the original person. But actually that he gets his power from someone. It’s not always understood by people. Many of the people, when they say God, the creator God who knows everything, it’s not so clear whether they’re praying the Brahma or Vishnu. The prayers in the Vedas are much more explicit that the Lord is the creator of all the universes. Anantakoti Brahmando so every universe has a Brahma, but all the universes. Panchatatu mandira extension. So. Learn Bengali fast. That’s the amazing thing. Today is a special day. Triple header. Sītā Devī Ram’s consort appeared today. Sītā Devī Appears at Sītā Marijuana. She is the daughter of Janaka. He was going to do a yagya. So one of the rituals is to plow the field where the yagya  will be performed.

Somehow from the earth Sītā came out. She came out from the earth. And when she left the planet, she went back into the earth. This is her special Leela. Sītā. Because she’s born. She was found by Janaka. So Janaka is her father. Then she became known as Janaki. This is the most chaste people devotees for all the. Pastimes of the Ramayana. Sītā Swayambhar Ram broke the bow Apar Saram. And won the hand of. Sītā. How Sītā went into the forest with Lord Ram. How she was kidnapped by Ravan. How she was switched by Agni Deva and Chaya. Sītā was given how she passed the ugly Pariksha and she was again switched. Served as the queen of Ayodhya. So many wonderful pastimes. Sa.

So actually when Sītā Ram were banished in the forest it was a very romantic wonderful pastime for Sītā to be serving her husband in the forest. Serving her Lord. They were staying for over 11 years in a place called Chitrakut. And they went from there. Nice safari. We went to Chitrakut. We didn’t know it’s like a Vrindavan. Beautiful river and all these temples. So Kṛṣṇa Chandra Prabhu, Rananath Swami and disciple Father Auravindam of Atlal. He was there. He’s a big Ram Bhakta. He gave prasad for all of the devotees. Ram Prasad and he showed us it was a special day where they do Parikramā of Chitrakut. There’s so many holy places there. I didn’t even know the place existed. There’s thousands of devotees there. Dozens and dozens of temples. We went to this one temple was the Sītā temple. Like they have Rādhā Kunda.

They have Sītā. Sītā Kund. Special bathing place of Sītā. Very beautiful place. So they fixed it all up, spent tons of money and said that one’s reserved. Only ladies can bathe it well. We were deprived. The lady is not equal anymore. All ladies get all sorts of beautiful. So her appearance day is today. There’s also Janava Devī’s appearance day. Balaram came as Nityānanda, right? Śrī Rādhā. Śrī Kṛṣṇa Chaitanya. Rādhā Kṛṣṇa Nahi Annu Balaram Hoylo Nitāi Nitāi. So Basura and Janava are the two consorts of Nityānanda. Balaram’s consorts are. Varuni and Revati. So Basuda is Varuni and Janava is Revati. So when she’s serving Bab Nityānanda, she’s Revati. Sometimes she would go out. She would go out preaching and she would be alone. She’d give Bhāgavatam classes and preach. Then also she has Angsa of Ananga Manjari. Don’t ask me how they do that.

They’re the combined expansion of two eternal souls. But it says she’s simultaneously Revati and Anangamanchari. She was. Her birthplace is in the village of Chaligam. Just very near to Muragacha. Probably you have all been to Muragacha a few times, right? The geography here is north of here. The next village, major village. The next town police station is called Dubulia. And the next police station after Dabulia is called Nakashi Para or has another name also Datwedhari Nakashi Para Bethuat Hari. In between Dubuliya and Betwath Hari there’s Mora and Moragacha on the left side of the road. And on the right side is Chaligram. So it’s not far. Very close. And there. Was a great. Was a great servant of the king at that time, Surya Sarakil. She had two daughters. So Ratnakar. What’s it called? Bhakti. Ratnaka describes that the Surya Sariyakhyal.

He was approached by one prince who was a devotee of Lord Chaitanya Raja. This Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa Hoda. I don’t know. Since I came back feeling really tired. Brain works well, Kṛṣṇa Hora. And he suggested that your daughters are very special. Nityānanda already came back from Jagannath Purī. And Lord Chaitanya had ordered him to take Grihasta Ashram. So he said you should. So he assigned Kṛṣṇa Hora to find the match. So he looked around. He found that these daughters of Saraikil, Surya Sarakiel were the best suitable because they were out of this world like Nityānanda. But father was insulted. What is this? My daughter is Mary Nityānanda. He runs around and he’s an Avadud. And he’s been like practically Brahmachari his whole life. I don’t know if I want to marry my daughters to such a. And Kṛṣṇa Hora got very offended.

He said, you don’t know who you’re talking about. Nityānanda is the greatest. Nityānanda is all good qualities. You’re Making a big mistake. I don’t even want to stay here and talk to you. When you speak like this, although you’re our friend, you don’t know what you’re saying. And he left. That night. Surya Sarakil had a dream where he saw Revati and Bharuni and Balaram getting married. And he saw him giving his daughters to Nityānanda in marriage. Then he realized that this was some divine thing. And he made a big mistake. So he sent a message to Kṛṣṇa Hora and told him, thumbs up. Please forgive me, I made a mistake. I had this dream and it’s all revealed to me. My daughters are divine energies of the Lord. And Balitananda is the Lord. Like that.

They were married and then they went into Navadip, had a big festival. The bodies met. They ended up stopping along the way all the places. At Kardaha. Which is about 6 km north of Panihati. Everybody heard of Panihati Chiradoy festival. So the Tinanda used to go to Panihati alive. Nearby his house. See Raguna advance. She didn’t have any children. Basurah had some children, but they were always. They died whenever Abhiram Prabhu came. And Abhiram Ram Dass came and offered them obeisances. And finally she had Paramātmā incarnated as her son. Virchandra Prabhu and mother Ganges Gaṅgā Ṭhākurani. And they survived the Pranams of Aviram Ram Dass, the Janava Devī. She had a stepson. Whose ashram is in Bhagnapara on the other side of the river Bhagnapar. So for a while after Nityānanda left the planet, Janava was the leading Vaishnavi. She was guiding the preaching.

She’s a lady Guru. She was giving initiation to many people. She was preaching. She was present at the installation of the deities at Ketorigram by. Narottam Das Thakur. She went to Ekhachakra visit her husband’s workplace. She went to Vrindavan. From Vrindavan she was doing Aarti to the Gopīnath Didi. And Gopīnath grabbed her and pulled her inside just like embraced her. And she disappeared inside of Gopīnath. That’s how she left the world. Her stepson and disciple was serving her. And then he lost his mother that way. Not stepson, adopted son Pala. That’s different than a step adopted son. He went bathed in a kura. Kundra found Kṛṣṇa Balaram Di’s floating in the water. So he got Kṛṣṇa And Balaram was told to bring them back to Navadip to Gor Mandalbumi Dam.

So he came and was worshipping them in what’s known as Bhagna Paranau on the base of a big banyan tree. Then a huge tiger came. Raa roaring, waking everybody up. And all the devotees ran. And this foster son or adopted son of Jenova came out and chastised the tiger. What are you doing? Scaring all the devotees. You naughty cat. What are you doing? Get out from here. He said, well, I will leave from here if you give me some Mahaprashala. So he went in, got some Maa Prasad went out and gave it to the tiger. The tiger said, I will go to. He said two conditions. One is he named this place after me. And the other is give me some Prasad. So when he got Prasad, he transformed into a human or something. He was actually cursed to become a tiger by his son Rishi.

And the only way he could get freed from the curse was if somebody gave him Mahaprasad. They could never convince anyone to give him Mahā Prasad. They’re all too frightened. Some tiger comes up, gave me Mahaprashad. It all ran. But this devotee was so special. So he gave the Prashad. Then he disappeared. Thank you. Freed me from the curse and he left. And then they named the place Bagh Na Para. Bagh means tiger. Na means no Tiger. The town without the tiger anymore Tiger is gone. But Chandavasi was known to give wonderful Bhāgavatam classes. Said that they put screen in front so people wouldn’t stare. She gave the class and everyone listened. Something like that. Then the third personality today was Madhu Pandit. The disappearance of Madhu Pandit Tinubhav. So Madhu Pandits not mentioned in Chaitanya Cherami. They were mentioned in other scriptures.

Like Bhakti Rajnakar. He was at Pansigarh with one other. Vaishnava, Vaishnavade, Parameshar Bhattacharya. The two of them would go begging for Madhukari every day in Vrindavan. And they would remember the Ashtakhani Veelas and discuss about Kṛṣṇa’s pastime. And Madhu Pandit was so elevated. We always meditating on Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes. He was there in Banksiva, right? And one day he had a vision of Lord Kṛṣṇa’s Balala. This beautiful. Like he was there watching. Kṛṣṇa was taking Subal on his shoulders, running with him. Subal was taking Kṛṣṇa on his shoulders and running. They’re running. And all the cowherd boys are doing the same thing. Going in back of each other, having horse rides. Then they were playing ball, special kind of ball game. Then they started wrestling. And then Kṛṣṇa was really perspiring wrestling with the different cowherd boys. We had here some Kṛṣṇa wrestling. We saw.

These are all with boys the same age, not with the mushtika or chanura. So then afterwards some other cowherd boys came and laid down some grass and things. Some assistant cowherd boys and Kṛṣṇa and the principal ones all started took rest. And then different boys were taking Kṛṣṇa’s head and putting on his lap. Someone was massaging his feet, someone was massaging his legs. Someone was massaging his arms. And Madhuban was just like, you know, wow, this is so wonderful. Seeing all these beautiful pastimes of Kṛṣṇa and Balaram. Kṛṣṇa and the cowherd voice. It was so wonderful. Then suddenly, poof, they all disappeared. And. That’s exactly what happened. He was crying. Exactly. He started crying in separation. And he fell on the ground and was rolling in the dust.

And he was so distant, overwhelmed with the memory of what he had just visualized, what he had just seen. Then he looked up and there was a Gopīnath deity. So pain is prostrate. Obeisances to Gopīnath. Other Vaishnavas came and saw the Gopīnath. They arranged for milk and yogurt and did an abishay. They got some cloth. They didn’t have to wait months and months to sew their cloth. They just somehow dressed the deity with whatever cloth, a beautiful, nice cloth they got. So that was the coming of roping up. Then later came a temple. So these are the some of the pastimes of Madhu Pandit. The day he was left from the world. So today is a special day in this month of Madhusudan. Whatever you do in the month of Madhusudan, you get a hundred times the benefit of all devotional service.

Mother Surdhana is like Dhamuda special month, also known as Baishak. Just like Brahmada is known as Karthik. This is special month. And this month comes Akshay Tritiya, Nishinga, Chhatra, Dāsī, Chandan Yātrā, bathing the sally ground with water. So many holy days are there. So this is a very special month today. And this month Sītā appears also Janava Devī appears. Madhu Pandit disappears. So it’s not. It’s all devotees who are participating either directly in the Lord’s pastimes or. Like Madhu Pandit, he witnessed the pastimes through his devotional service. He got Upa Lapdi or realization. We missed the pastime. But if we can get blessing of great devotees like this Madhu Pandit then we could get the realization of Ka’s pastimes. Today is a good day for all the everyone to get the blessing of Janava Devī to preach the Bhakti Ratmakar.

It also mentions that during that installation of the deities that Ketori that Shrinivas took permission from her. Naratam Das took permission to start the installation. She gave the blessing. Go forward. Then Shriniv Rasacharya was doing the Aarti and Narayatam was singing the kīrtana. When he was singing the kīrtana, he sang in different ragas and different. So at one point he was singing pastime kīrtana very slowly, very deeply. Like everyone was feeling separation mode. They’re feeling so much desire to see the Lord. But then all of a sudden the Lord appeared. Lord Chaitanya appeared, Nityānanda appeared, Advaita Gadhaar, Śrīvas. All the associates appeared. People that had left the planet were gone. They all came back. There was this kīrtana like, you know, I always look at the clock but it never stands still. It’s always moving. I am thinking everybody has to go take their breakfast.

But the Darshan was a little late anyway. But in this case, of course there was no clock but the hourglass or whatever they used to keep time. It all stopped. There was no movement. There was a kīrtana and went on for a day of Brahma and nobody got tired and no time passed. One day a Brahma of ecstatic Kīrtana. No hunger, no tiredness, no time passing. Then when the Lord left, everybody was like so devastated. Again with separation. They just been with the Lord for a day of Brahma and he’s gone. They’re like all rolling in the ground. Everyone’s crying. Then Janava was in the back standing. She said kīrtana. She was leading. They started kīrtana again. And everyone felt relief by the presence of the holy names. Any question? Commentation? Nar singa maharaj. Any comment? Lots of pastimes. This can’t go wrong.

Any comment? Is the phyogenate deity of worship? I was trying to find out. Is that the. Is it another Gopīnath or the same Gopīnath that is that Bang Sibat has its own Gopī mouth. And there’s another. I am not such a Vrindavan expert Maybe somebody Padma Loksha. Okay, he may know. Is here? Ask him later Because I mean Thomas Gopīnath Madhavendra Purī found Gopāla Deity which is Śrīnathi and then Sanajan is Rādhā Madan Mohan Krupa Goswami is Rādhā Govinda. Let me sing that Prandanahe this. Okay then it’s the original one. Special delivery. Super special. He just appears self-manifested. Swayam Prakash. Thank you very much Hare Kṛṣṇa.
