mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī-guruṁ dīna-tāraṇam
paramānandaṁ mādhavaṁ śrī caitanya iśvaram

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.291

gaurāṅga-darśane vācaspati-gṛhābhimukhe lokasaṅghera yātrā o tāhādera utkaṇṭhāra nidarśana— 
ananta arbuda loka bali’ ‘hari hari’
calilena dekhibāre gaurāṅga śrī-hari

Jayapatākā Swami: When Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu stayed at Vidyā-vācaspati’s house, many hundreds of thousands of people went to see Him and chant the holy name of Hari.

Hari Bol! Hari Bol!

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.292

patha nāhi pāya keha lokera gahane
vana-ḍāla bhāṅgi' yāya prabhura darśane

Translation: It was so crowded that people could not even find a place to walk; therefore they made room by clearing out the jungles near the village.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.293

śuna śuna āre bhāi, caitanya-ākhyāna
ye-rūpe karilā prabhu sarva-jīva-trāṇa

Translation: O brothers, just hear the topics of how Lord Caitanya delivered all the living entities.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.294

vana-ḍāla-kaṇṭaka bhāṅgiyā loka dhāya
tathāpi ānande keha duḥkha nāhi pāya

Translation: Although people cut through the thorny forest, they felt such ecstasy that they did not feel any distress.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.295

lokera gahane yata araṇya āchila
kṣaṇeke sakala divya patha-maya haila

Translation: Because of the dense crowds that were in the entire forest many roads were automatically excavated. The word spread like a wildfire that Lord Gaurāṅga is there in Vidyānagar.

Jayapatākā Swami: Everyone dropped everything and rushed to the Ganges, even there was no room on the road, they went by the forest. Somehow the vast crowds of people had created roadways through the forest. Everyone was so eager to see Lord Caitanya, that they didn’t feel any inconveniences to do this, going through the forest.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.296

saba-dike loka saba ‘hari’ bali’ yāya
hena raṅga kare prabhu śrī-gaurāṅga rāya

Jayapatākā Swami: People chanted the holy name of Lord Hari and chanted Hari Bol! in all directions as they proceeded. Such are the pastimes of Lord Śrī Gaurāṅga!

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.297

keha bale,—“muñi tāna dhariyā caraṇa
māgimu-ye-mate mora khaṇḍaye bandhana”

Translation: Someone said, “I will grab hold of Lord Caitanya’s lotus feet and beg for His mercy so that I may be freed from all bondage.”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.298

keha bale,—“muñi tāne dekhile nayane
tabei sakala pāṅa, māgimu vā kene”

Jayapatākā Swami: Someone else said, “If I just see Lord Caitanya, I will have everything. Why should I ask for anything?”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.299

keha bale,—“muñi tāna nā jānoṅ mahimā
yata nindā kariyāchoṅ, tāra nāhi sīmā

Jayapatākā Swami: Another said, “I did not know Lord Caitanya’s glories, so I blasphemed Him without limit.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.300

ebe tāna pāda-padma dhariyā hṛdaye
māgimu ki-rūpe mora se pāpa ghucaye”

Jayapatākā Swami: “Now I will hold Lord Caitanya’s lotus feet to my chest and beg Him to rescue me from those sins.”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.301

keha bale,—“mora putra parama juyāra
more ei vara yena nā khelāya āra”

Translation: Someone else said, “My son is a habitual gambler. I will ask for the benediction that he may not gamble anymore.”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.302

keha bale,—“ei mora vara kāya-mane
tāṅra pāda-padma yena nā chāḍoṅ kakhane”

Translation: Someone said, “My heartfelt request is that I may never give up Lord Caitanya’s lotus feet at any time.”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.303

keha bale,— "dhanya dhanya mora ei vara
prabhu yena nā pāsara gaurāṇgasundara"

Translation: Someone else said, “I will ask for the most glorious benediction that I may never forget Lord Gaurasundara.”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.304

ei mata baliyā ānande sarva-jana
caliyā yāyena sabe, parānanda mana

Translation: Everyone felt transcendental ecstasy as they walked along speaking in this way.

Jayapatākā Swami: So these devotees they were so much Caitanya conscious, they were not thinking of anything else, and they simply prayed for the blessings of Lord Caitanya, thus their minds were totally fixed on them.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.305

kṣaṇeke āila saba kheyāghāṭe vipula lokasaṅgha— 
kṣaṇeke āila saba loka kheyā-ghāṭe
kheyāri karite pāra paḍila saṅkaṭe

Translation: At the moment, many people also came by boat to see Lord Caitanya. So many came that it was difficult for the boatmen to get them across the river.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.306

sahasra sahasra loka eka nā’ye caḍe
baḍa baḍa naukā sei-kṣaṇe bhāṅgi' paḍe

Translation: Thousands of people climbed into each boat, so even the large boats broke apart.

Jayapatākā Swami: The boat man was requesting people, do not over crowd, but no one would listen, they were so eager to see Lord Caitanya. Because of this the boats broke apart or sank.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.307

nānā-dike loka kheyārire vastra diyā
pāra hai’ yāya sabe ānandita haiyā

Translation: People joyfully crossed the river at various points by paying their fares with even clothing.

Jayapatākā Swami: People were so mad with ecstasy when they heard that Lord Caitanya was there, that they forgot to bring any money and then they gave a piece of cloth as payment for the boatman.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.308

naukā ye nā pāya, tārā nānā buddhi kare
ghaṭa buke diyā keha gaṅgāya sāṅtāre

Translation: Those who could not find space in the boats swam across the river by floating on the top of overturned pots.

Jayapatākā Swami: Those who could not find space in the boats used various means to cross the river. Some swam across the river by floating on the top of overturned pots.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.309

keha vā kalāra gācha bāndhi' kare bhelā
keha keha sāṅtāriyā yāya kari' khelā

Translation: Some made boats by tying banana trees together, and some playfully swam across the river.

Jayapatākā Swami: So, with banana trees they made rafts to cross the river and some people just swam.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.310

caturdike brahmāṇḍabhedī haridhvani— 
catur-dike sarva-loka kare hari-dhvani
brahmāṇḍa bhedaye yena hena mata śuni

Jayapatākā Swami: People in all directions chanted the holy name of Lord Hari, and chanted Hari bol! And the sound vibration penetrated the entire universe. Everyone was so eager to see Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu for different reasons, some wanted mercy, some wanted forgiveness, some want blessings for their children. But everybody wanted to see Lord Caitanya very much and so everyone chanted the names of Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hari Bol. Lord Caitanya’s pastimes were such that everyone was very eager to have His association.

Thus ends the chapter entitled, Great Enthusiasm of the People Rushing to the House of Vidyā-vācaspati in Vidyānagara to See the Lotus Feet of Lord Caitanya.
