The following is a Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Book Compilation given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on July16th, 2021 in Sri Dhama Mayapur, India.

mūkaṁ karoti vācālaṁ paṅguṁ laṅghayate girim
yat-kṛpā tam ahaṁ vande śrī-guruṁ dīna-tāraṇam
paramānandaṁ mādhavaṁ śrī caitanya iśvaram

Hariḥ oṁ tat sat!

Hare Kṛṣṇa! Dear Devotees! Today we will continue with the compilation of Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Book, Today's chapter is entitled as:

Instucting Everyone to Go to Kuliyā, Vidyā-vācaspati Meets Lord Caitanya in Kuliyā
Under the Section: The Lord’s Attempt to Go to Vṛndāvana

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.374

sakalera nikaṭa ei gupta saṁvāda pracāra o sakalake kuliyāya gamanārtha upadeśa—
tata-kṣaṇe āilena sarva-loka yathāsa
bārei āsi' kahilena gopya-kathā

Jayapatākā Swami: He immediately went before all the people and informed them of the confidential news. Since Lord Caitanya had secretly left Kuliyā, he told all the people that Lord Caitanya is in Kuliyā, so He was still there. “so we must go there to see Him”. So, everybody immediately took off and they understood that He was no longer in Vidyā-vācaspati’s house.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.375

“tomarā sakala loka tattva nā jāniyā
doṣa āmā’ ‘āmi thuiyāchi lukāiyā’

Jayapatākā Swami: “Without knowing the actual truth you have all accused me of hiding Lord Caitanya. He was getting double distressed, distressed at not seeing Lord Caitanya and double distressed for being accused by all the people that he had been hiding Lord Caitanya and depriving them of the mercy.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.376

ebe śunilāṅa prabhu kuliyā-nagare
āchena, āsiyā kahilena dvijavare

Jayapatākā Swami: “Now I have come to know that Lord Caitanya is in Kuliyā. This best of the brāhmaṇas has come and told me.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.377

sabe cala, yadi satya haya e vacana
tabe se āmāre sabe baliha brāhmaṇa”

Jayapatākā Swami: “Let us all go. If this information is correct, you should accept me as a brāhmaṇa.” So he wanted to dispel the doubts and aspersions cast upon him.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.378

vācaspatira sahita lokasaṅghera prabhu darśanārthe kuliyāya yātrā—
sarva-loka ‘hari’ bali’ vācaspati-saṅge
sei kṣaṇe sabe calilena mahāraṅge

Jayapatākā Swami: In great joy everyone chanted the name of Lord Hari Hari Bol! and immediately departed with Vidyā-vācaspati.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.379

“kuliyā-nagare āilena nyāsi-maṇi”
sei kṣaṇe sarva-dike haila mahādhvani

Jayapatākā Swami: Immediately the news spread in all directions: “The crest jewel of sannyāsīs has gone to Kuliyā town.”

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.380

śrīdhāma māyāpura navadvīpa o kuliyāra madhye sabe mātra gaṅgā-vyavadhāna—
sabe gaṅgā-madhye nadīyāya kuliyāya
śuni’ mātra sarva-loka mahānande dhāya

Jayapatākā Swami: Only the Ganges lay between Nādia town and Kuliyā town. Hearing the news, everyone rushed towards Kuliyā town in great ecstasy. Vidyānagara and Kuliyā are on the western side of the Ganges and previously Nādia, the town of Navadvīpa was on eastern side. So people from different directions headed towards Kuliyā to see Lord Caitanya.

Purport by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhāta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura: Only the Ganges separated ancient Navadvīpa from Kuliyā. To reach Kuliyā from Śrī Māyāpur, one has to cross the Ganges once, and to reach Vidyā-vācaspati's house from Kuliyā one has to again cross the Ganges. Because to go to Vidyānagara from Śrī Māyāpur there was only one path through dense forest. Rather than cross the Ganges two times, one could reach Vācaspati's house by another road that passed by Viśārada's dam.

In the Caitanya-bhāgavata (Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 5.709) it is stated: gaṅgāra opāra kabhu yāyena kuliyā —“Nityānanda sometimes visited Kuliyā on the other side of the Ganges.”

Jayapatākā Swami: Behind the house of Śrīla Siddha Jagannātha dāsa Bābājī, there is an ancient Ganges flowing, apparently previously when one was going to Vidyānagara one would have to cross two territories of Ganges, on the route, or go through another route. But now the river between Kuliyā and Vidyānagara is not so prominent, and one can go directly. But five hundred years ago it was sightly different but anyway Kuliya is difintely on the other side of the Ganges on the western side and Navadvīpa was on eastern side. Presently Navadvīpa town is also on the western side, where the train line is running.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.381

vācaspatira grāma apekṣā kuliyāya adhikatara lokasaṅgha—
vācaspati-grāmete yateka loka chila
tāra koṭi koṭi guṇe sakala bāḍila

Jayapatākā Swami: The number of people coming from Vidyā-vācaspati's village multiplied millions of times by the time they reached Kuliyā town.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.382

kuliyāya mahāprabhura darśanārtha lokasaṅghera varṇana kevala anantadevai karite samartha—
kuliyāra ākarṣaṇa nā yāya kathana
tāhā varṇibāre śakta sahasra-vadana

Jayapatākā Swami: It is not possible for anyone other than the thousand-headed Lord Anantadeva to describe the huge crowds that were attracted to Kuliyā town.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.383

utkaṇṭha lokasaṅghera varṇana—
lakṣa lakṣa loka vā āilā kothā haite
nā jāni kateka pāra haya kata mate

Jayapatākā Swami: No one knew where the hundreds of thousands of people came from or how so many of them crossed the river.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.384

kata vāḍubaye naukā gaṅgāra bhitare
tathāpi sabei tare, janeka nā mare

Jayapatākā Swami: Although many boats sunk in the Ganges, everyone got across. Not even a single person drowned.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.385

naukāḍubilei mātra gaṅgā haya sthala
hena caitanyera anugraha icchā-bala

Jayapatākā Swami: Whenever a boat would begin to sink in the Ganges, it would be found that a sand bar was right below it. Such was Lord Caitanya's merciful will. Even if the people didn’t know how to swim, they could stand on the sand bar and a boat came and picked them up.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.386

ye prabhura nāma-guṇa sakṛt ye gāya
se saṁsāra-abdhi tare vatsa-pada-prāya

Jayapatākā Swami: A person who even once glorifies the names and qualities of the Supreme Lord crosses over the material ocean as if it were the water contained in the hoofprint of a calf.

The phrase vatsa-pada refers to the small impression created by the hoof of a calf.

See Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (1.8.36, 4.22.40, 10.2.30, and 10.14.58).

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.387

hena prabhu sākṣāte dekhite ye āise
tāṅrā gaṅgā taribeka vicitra vā kise

Jayapatākā Swami: Therefore what is the wonder that persons who were going to directly see Lord would cross the Ganges?

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.388

lakṣa lakṣa loka bhāse jāhnavīra jale
sabe pāra hayena parama-kutūhale

Jayapatākā Swami: Hundreds of thousands of people with great happiness, joyfully crossed the Ganges by floating in those waters.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.389

gaṅgāya haiyā pāra āpanā’-āpani
kolā-kuli kariyā karena hari-dhvani

Jayapatākā Swami: After easily crossing the Ganges, people embraced one another and chanted the name of Lord Hari. Hari Bol!

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.390

keyārira kata vā haila upārjana
kata hāṭa-bājāra vasāya kata jana

Jayapatākā Swami: The boatmen earned abundant wealth, and a number of people set up shops and markets.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.391

catur-dike yāra yei icchā sei kine
hena nāhi jāni ihā kare kon jane

Jayapatākā Swami: People in the four directions purchased whatever they desired. No one could understand who was arranging all this.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.392

kṣaṇekera madhye grāma-nagara-prāstara
paripūrṇa haila, sthala nāhi avasara

Jayapatākā Swami: Within a short time the entire village and town, including the streets and the outskirts, became so filled with people that there was no empty space.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.393

prabhura guptabhāve avasthāna—
ananta arbuda loka kare hari-dhvani
bāhira nā haya, gupte āche nyāsi-maṇi

Haribol!

Jayapatākā Swami: Unlimited millions of people chanted the name of Lord Hari, Hari bol! yet the crest jewel of sannyāsīs stayed hidden and did not come out.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.394

kṣaṇeke āilā mahāśaya vācaspati
tiṅho nāhi pāyena prabhura kothā sthiti

Jayapatākā Swami: After a while Vidyā-vācaspati Mahāśaya arrived there, yet he was also unable to find out where Lord Caitanya was.

Caitanya-Bhāgavata Antya-khaṇḍa 3.395

kata-kṣaṇe tathi vācaspati ekeśvara
ḍāki' ānāilā prabhu gaurāṅga-sundara

Jayapatākā Swami: After a while, Lord Gaurasundara summoned Vācaspati to come alone to see Him there at that place. Thousands and millions of people went from Vidyānagara, the house of Vidyā-vācaspati in huge crowds and many people crossed over the river in different directions and the whole town of Kuliyā was filled with people, but they didn’t know where Lord Caitanya was. Lord Caitanya called for Vidyā-vācaspati, and he alone could see the Lord.

Thus ends the chapter entitled, Instructing Everyone to Go to Kuliyā, Vidyā-vācaspati Meets Lord Caitanya in Kuliyā
