Translation: Thereafter Brahmā accepted another body, in which sex life was not forbidden, and thus he engaged himself in the matter of further creation.
Purport: In his former body, which was transcendental, affection for sex life was forbidden, and Brahmā therefore had to accept another body to allow himself to be connected with sex. He thus engaged himself in the matter of creation. His former body transformed into fog, as previously described.
Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 3.12.50

Translation: O son of the Kurus, when Brahmā saw that in spite of the presence of sages of great potency there was no sufficient increase in population, he seriously began to consider how the population could be increased.
Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 3.12.51
aho adbhutam etan me
vyāpṛtasyāpi nityadā
na hy edhante prajā nūnaṁ
daivam atra vighātakam
Translation: Brahmā thought to himself: Alas, it is wonderful that in spite of my being scattered all over, there is still insufficient population throughout the universe. There is no other cause for this misfortune but destiny.
Jayapatākā Swami: So we see that Lord Brahmā, he is accepting this as his devotional service – he has to create the universe, he has to fill it up, etc. He created many Prajāpatis but still he was seeing that the universe was not filling up with people. Dakṣa, one of the Prajāpatis, and he made ten thousand sons. But Nārada Muni preached to all of them and made them like brahmacārīs, sannyāsīs! Dakṣa he had to make more kids, so then he made ten thousand more kids! We can only make one or two or three at a time, but how he, Dakṣa, made ten thousand at a time, that is the difference. So, Brahmā, he was seeing how can I do my devotional service, how can I fill up the universe? Now, he had a transcendental body. That body was transcendental, therefore sex life was forbidden in it. Because Brahmā after creating the Prajāpatis he saw that the universe was still not filled up he thought he would create his own children. We don’t know what the capacity of Brahmā was, must have been very great! Just like, he is thinking this is my service and I have to fill up the universe, but it is not filled up. Each of you probably have a service. Sometimes you are thinking how will I do my service? How should it be done? So, if someone is really fixed up in spiritual life, he or she would want to do a service.
Now, Lord Caitanya took sannyāsa and when He was in Jagannātha Purī, every year all the Bengali devotees would walk down from Bengal to Jagannātha Purī. So, in the third or fourth year of their stay where they would be staying was fixed up, then they brought their wives. So they brought their wives because they wanted to invite Lord Caitanya over for lunch! So like that, Lord Caitanya would take lunch with each of the Bengali couple devotees as much as possible. Sometimes when devotees saw that time was running out then two or three would join together and invite Lord Caitanya for lunch. How many of the ladies would like to have Lord Caitanya come over for lunch to your house? What about husbands? So, then all the devotees went back at the end of the catur-māsa. So, Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya, said now it is my time, I live here! So then he invited Lord Caitanya to his lunch for one month! Lord Caitanya said, He was a sannyāsī, and it was not Their principle to go to one place for one month. To make it short, what we are discussing here is that Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya invited and Lord Caitanya went down from four to two weeks, to going one day. Lord Caitanya was very strict. Then Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya, what could he do? He had to accept one day! Then, Lord Caitanya came to the home of Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya and the discussion was very long, I am describing it very short. He said, that ten sannyāsīs come with you, this that, I am not going into all that. So then, Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya had made a special room for Lord Caitanya where He could enter through the main door and through a side door they could serve Him hot prasāda. Lord Caitanya entered through the main door, and He said, “Wow! You offer all this to Rādhā Kṛṣṇa? So, these pots were for about a hundred people!” He said, “My wife is a pretty good cook!” He had three śuktās, ten spinaches – śākas, cannot even begin to explain all the sabjīs! Mocā ghanta and so many things. Chutneys, then some different salty cakes. And sweets. So, I told the devotee who reads the Caitanya-caritāmṛta to me, Jaya Rādhā Kṛṣṇa dāsa, that you can show this list of items to the pujaris of Pañca-tattva, and Rādhā Mādhava and they should offer this at least once a month. First Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya gave Lord jagannātha-prasāda on a separate plate. So, there was a long discussion between Lord Caitanya and Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya to sit on a seat, and somehow convinced Him to sit on the seat.
Amogha was Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya’s son in law and he was a fault finder so Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya asked to keep him out. And when he was busy serving Lord Caitanya, somehow Amogha snuck in. At this time, Amogha said, “What kind of a sannyāsī is He? This is food enough for ten people!” And Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya, he was so angry! He ran with a stick to get Amogha! But Amogha was young and strong, so he ran away quickly. Then, Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya prayed for forgivance from Lord Caitanya, “I invited You home for prasāda, not to be criticized or blasphemed.” But Lord Caitanya said, “It was not blasphemy, it was true!” But later, Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya was thinking, “If I kill him, he is a brāhmaṇa boy, and killing a brāhmaṇa will be a sin.” He thought that, “If I commit suicide then because I have a brāhmaṇa body I will end up being a brahma-rākṣasa demon.” So we can see how serious he was taking it. His wife, she said, “May my daughter may become a widow!” She was cursing her son-in-law. So Amogha, he got cholera. Then, Lord Caitanya was back at His room, and He asked, “What is the news with Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya.” They said that he and his wife are fasting. And Amogha, he suddenly got cholera, and he is on his deathbed. Lord Caitanya hearing this, He ran to Amogha’s house. He put His hand on the heart of Amogha. He said, “The heart of a brāhmaṇa is supposed to be in the mode of goodness, soft, how have you allowed this jealousy, envy, to enter your heart?” So He said get up from your bed and chant:
Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/
Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare!
Then he got up from his bed and started to chant and dance! He was chanting:
Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/
Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare!
Tears were coming from his eyes, hairs on his body were standing on end. All the ecstatic symptoms were exhibited from his body. And he fell down at Lord Caitanya’s feet, and he grabbed Him and requested that He forgive him for his offence. He started to slap his face and mouth and said, this mouth has spoken so many blasphemous things. So then Lord Caitanya went back to the house of Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya. Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya asked Him, “Why did you save my son-in-law, he is a blasphemer.” Lord Caitanya said, “Now he is a Vaiṣṇava and now there are no offences, no sin. So, you take a bath, come back and take your prasāda.” So, how many of you want to serve Lord Caitanya? How many of you want to serve Kṛṣṇa, Rādhā Mādhava? Bhakti-yoga, the whole process is actually offering service to Lord Kṛṣṇa, Lord Caitanya through the guru.
I got a letter from my disciple that he had reduced his attachment to Kṛṣṇa and had started eating onion and garlic and reduced his chanting. Then he said since writing to you I have been reading about Kṛṣṇa every night and have started to regain my thing.
I have been having a slight fever, and my foot hurts, I have been having some cramps, so it is important that all my disciples follow all the regulative principles and do devotional service nicely. Last night, we were reading from Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura that our devotion increases from sādhana-bhakti to rāgānuga naturally. Śrīla Prabhupāda had said that it took him twenty years to achieve spiritual perfection. I don’t know how long it will take any of you? If it took Śrīla Prabhupāda twenty years, I don’t know how long it will take you! Sādhana-bhakti or vaidhi-bhakti is not that if you do it, immediately you will get bhakti and start chanting Haribol like Amogha. Amogha had Lord Caitanya put His lotus hand on his chest.
We were reading last night how we advance from bhagavat-śraddhā or faith in God. There are various stages. Bhagavat-niṣṭhā, steadfastness in devotion, bhagavat-ruci or taste for serving the Lord. Bhagavat-āsakti, attachment to the Lord’s service. This is all vaidhi-bhakti. A little bit by bit, gradually you get the taste and attachment while you advance. And then at the top of the higher stage is bhāva-bhakti, bhagavat-rati or affection for the Lord. Then you have Bhagavat-anuraga, Bhagavat-prīti. There are many levels in love of Godhead. Bhagavat-bhāva, ecstatic feelings towards the Lord. This bhakti is the svadharma of the living entity. So, we need to be fixed in vaidhi-bhakti and whether it takes us twenty or thirty years we will not give up this vaidhi-bhakti. So step by step we advance. We should not criticize anyone like Amogha did. When we go to Pañca-tattva, Rādhā Mādhava, Aṣṭa-sakhis, Māyāpur-candra, we should ask for forgivance, “O Lord, I have committed unlimited offences, please forgive me. I take shelter at Your lotus feet.” Have you told that to the Deities? Raise your hands who have said. This is one of the things we are supposed to do. So, yoga normally it people takes many, many births, but in this bhakti-yoga you can achieve success in one birth! Haribol! Gaurāṅga! Nityānanda! Advaita! Gadādhara! Śrīvāsa! Śrīla Prabhupāda kī jaya!
