151117_Caitanya_Book_Lotus_Buiding_Rooftop_Sri_Mayapur_Dham Gurumaharaj: So how is everybody. Everybody: Haribol. Gurumaharj: So sorry we have started a bit late. This is not as fast moving as a lecture because I have to think what’s the best translation like afterwards if I can say the whole pastime again that would be different but that will happen later. So Lord Caitanya, He was in the house of Ballavacharya and the marriage ceremony or kanya dan has been performed, so we are going on to the next stages. Caitanya Mangal So yesterday we talked about how the various ladies of the family, they had Nimai Pandit perform the family traditions. Here it is described that the young girls they went before and after Lord Gauranga, and ah... it was a very festive mood. Every family has some special ceremony that they perform, so those were accompanying Lord Caitanya and Laxmipriya, they had Lord Nimai also perform those and everybody was very joyful, here it is said that the young girls- they are running before and after. They were around Lord Gauranga, before Him, behind Him and on the side. Seeing his face effulgent like a full moon, the young girls- their natural shyness and timidness had fled away and they were just excited to be there with Lord Caitanya or Lord Gauranga.

Ok... Lord Caitnya’s moonlike face which was smiling and laughing. So Lord Caitanya was making some puns and jokes with the girls. The young girls filled with the qualities of Lord Caitanya whose face was shining like a moon and smiling, they performed... they made various puns and ah... laughed and joked with the Lord. Some girls said, “listen to me, give your bride some beetlenut, He is about to fall asleep.” This program went on the whole night, so naturally you could be tired. So the Lord using His own hand..... The young girls said that lift up the face of Laxmipriya, let everyone see, here friends would be happy, and all our friends let them see with a blissful mind, the face... the beautiful face of Laxmipriya. One girls said, “Where is there anyone who is as fortunate as Laxmipriya. She got Lord Caitanya, Lord Gauranga as her husband?” What tapasyas has she performed, what penance has she done, what charity has she performed, what demigod has she worshipped to get the blessings of Lord Biswmbhar as her husband. What sadhana did she perform? You could find this out what sadhana she performed. What chaste woman is there in this world who will not be agitated seeing the beauty of Lord Viswambhar. By seeing the handsome form of Lord Caitanya with his face and eye brows is put to shame and he is unable to stand before Lord Viswambhar. The beautiful features steal the jewel of the pride of beautiful woman. Lord Caitanya’s two long beautiful arms defeated the arms of cupid and the otherwise chaste woman were desirous of being held by those arms. They thought that Laxmipriya will enjoy this transcendental form. When will we have the good fortune to also be touched by the Lord’s hands. So it’s our desire to become his maid servant. He who has the brilliant splendour of the full moon, and when will I be able to serve that Lord Gauranga who was brilliant like so many moons. Gauranga Lila Smaran Caitanya Mangal So in this way after serving all the different rituals during the night with great festive mood the morning came and Lord Viswambahara performed his morning duties. The day after the wedding ceremony they performed the kushindika ceremony and he fed the different Brahmans sumptuous prasadam. Are your read? (laughter) It’s called Lila smaran. (laughter) So in this way he performed the Brahman dharma. The Brahmans were always giving charity. So as a Brahman he fed the other Brahmans as charity. So he told everyone that on next day he will go back home, and the day after the wedding he spent in doing his brahminical dharma. After the wedding ceremony was complete and the festivities were over then ah... He went on a hanging palanquin. There are two kinds of palanquins, one is holding on the shoulders and persons walking on the sides. The person sitting on the palanquin is up and the other kind is where people sitting in the palanquin are hanging and ah... they carry the palanquin on their shoulders and it hands down, that’s called the dholak. So Lord Caitanya he was sitting in a haning palanquin and next to him was seated Laxmipriya, the relatives of Ballavacharya saw off Lord Caitanya ceremoniously and He was carried by this manpower to His house. Now in those days there was no buggies or bicycles, no autorickshaws, no phatphatis. This was a very prestigious, aristrocratic carriage, to be carried by the manpower in a palanquin. There Lord Biswambhar with Laxmipriya was seated. So while He was... while Lord Biswambhar was seated in the palanquin, by His side sat Laxmipriya and then all around there were like bumble bees, young girls were running accompanying them. Chaitanya Bhagavat As the procession was starting to take Biswambhar and His new bride to the house of mother Sachi, Ballavacharya came to offer blessing to his daughter and ah... to blessings and his son in law. He was simultaneously receiving bliss and separation. Two questions. Q: Where did this wedding place? Where is He coming from? Gurumaharaj: Maybe where you are sitting. (laughter) You are there (laughter) This whole side was Nabadwip and only when the British came in and established the train did that become Nabadwip Town. Before that this was the town of Nabadwip and ah... that was Kuliapat, one of the nine islands and that island is know as aparadha byanjan Kuliapat, the place where you can get rid of your offenses. Devananda was offensive to Srivas and he got forgiven there. So exactly where in the city was Laxmipriya was living, somewhere from here to Hulughat, we don’t know exactly. It should not be too far because she went to bathe in the Ganges and Lord Caitanya saw her then. So she must have been bathing in some similar place. Q: Hare Krishna Maharaj. Please accept my humble obeisaces. Thank you for your class. Maharaj my question is that what kind of austerity or vrata a girl should do to get a good husband and what kind of quality she should possess to possess a good husband? Gurumaharaj: This sounds like a mundane question. You see Visnupriya or Laxmipriya, she got the supreme personality of Godhead as her husband and that is only possible because of pure devotion. So if you please Krishna He can make all arrangements for you.
