The following is a lecture given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on April 13, 1992 – in Śrī Māyāpur, India. The lecture begins with a reading from Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 7.7.30-31.

Vishwara Purī received the great blessing of being the Guru of Mohit Chaitanya because of his dedicated service to Guru. How great, how important is it to serve the Guru cannot be overestimated. This topic has been glorified throughout the scriptures, so many places in fact. In the previous verse, Prabhupāda quotes the Sweta Sutra, Upanishad 623. Translation. Unto those great souls who have implicit faith in both the Lord and the spiritual Master, all the implicit purports of Vedic knowledge are automatically revealed. Prabhupāda continues in his purport, one must accept a pure devotee, the representative of God, as one’s Guru, and then offer him all the respects one would offer the supreme personality of Godhead. This is the secret of success for one who adopts this method. The perfect process is revealed. In this verse.

The words Nyaya anjasa roti indicate that by offering service and surrendering to the spiritual master, one is elevated to the devotional service. And by performing devotional service, one gradually becomes attached to the supreme personality of Godhead. Because of this attachment to the Lord, one can understand the Lord. In other words, one can understand what the Lord’s position is, what our position is and what our relationship is. All this can be understood very easily by this simple method of Bhakti Yoga. As soon as one is situated on a platform of Bhakti Yoga, the root cause of one’s suffering and material bondage is destroyed. This is clearly explained in the next verse which gives the secret of success. The next verse was the verse you read today.

So by having implicit faith in both the Lord and the spiritual Master, all the importance of Vedic knowledge are automatically revealed. Even when Gauriamat Damon Vandagoni among members came here during the Gora Pūrṇimā festival and Narayan Maharaj was speaking, he was telling the people in Bengali that these ISKCON devotees have got so much Guru bhakti, so much devotion for their Guru that they are going place and preaching Kṛṣṇa consciousness where we cannot even imagine visiting, what to speak of preaching there. They preached in Russia when it was completely illegal. They’re preaching in many other countries like China, Islamic countries, where it’s very difficult to consider preaching. But they’re doing all this because of devotion to Guru. So the ISKCON strength, their very great quality that we see is they have this very great devotion for Guru.

The devotion to Guru is the beginning and it continues on and takes us to the end. It’s not that we simply start off with devotion to Guru. And then after some time we forget the Guru and then we no longer need the Guru. So we become situated in our Saroopa city that is something like the Mayavadis who actually use the Guru as the kind of stepping stone to my merge into the Absolute. They like the Vedic prayer, Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu, Guru Devam, Hishwaram Sakshat, Guru Karoor, Karma. They like that verse very much because they want to do some initial bhakti to the Guru and then become God. So since Guru is God and I become God and then I also became one with the Guru, I become one with God, I become one with everything.

So this is not real Guru bhakti and certainly it’s not real Kṛṣṇa bhakti. So just as Kṛṣṇa bhakti is eternal, Bhakti to Guru is also eternal. Shakudana jalu ji Janame general janmi prabhu se. So the devotion to Guru is understood. Whatever service we’re doing to Kṛṣṇa is to the Guru. When the Guru finally in the spiritual world he brings us in contact with our eternal devotional service and we are situated there. Then of course Guru is like an old friend and he is not needed to that. Like he’s not needed in that sense anymore as we need the Guru for every guidance as we need in the beginning of devotional service. But still Guru is a very old and dear friend in the spiritual world.

In the material world, the relationship with the Guru is formal because he is the representative of the supreme personality of. And as Prabhupāda said, one must accept the pure devotee, representative of God as one’s Guru and then offer him all the respects one would offer the supreme personality of Godhead. This is the secret of success for one who adopts this process, the perfect process revealed by serving the Guru, offering him all the respects as one would offer the supreme personality of God him, one develops devotion that is a sublime secret. You worship the Guru with devotion and you develop devotion for Kṛṣṇa. Yaranjasaruti. By offering service and surrendering to the spiritual master, one is elevated to devotional service. And by performing devotional service one gradually becomes attached to the supreme personality of Godhead.

For us to go higher in devotional service, we need to have attachment for Kṛṣṇa ashakti. So here through devotion to Guru it is showing how we’re going through Vajana Kriya Anartha, Naviti, Mishka, Ruchi. From Ruchi to Ashakti, we’re going getting rid of the obstacles in our devotional service. All the other desires, all the anarthas may not only be gross anarthas Lord Chaitanya revealed and has Leela of Gundi Cham Arjana are not only the gross anarthas of Nishidachar. It’s not that we are free from anarthas just because we stop breaking the four regulative principles and chant 16 rounds. We may have so many other subtle anartas in the form of weeds or even offensive mentality in the form of improper Vaishnav behavior.

Dawahar etiquette in Caitanya Charitamrita Lord Caitanya has taught that if one doesn’t know the proper Vaishnava behavior, how to deal with other Vaishnavas, one cannot develop love for Kṛṣṇa. So all these things are developed. Getting rid of the anartas, even the very subtle anartas of La, Pūjā and Pratishta. When Lord Chaitanya was cleaning the Gundija temple, first he took out the little stones and the leaves and the twigs. Then he cleansed away all the small sand particles and smaller little fibers and broken leaves by sweeping. Then he washed everything clean, getting out even the dust that was left after sweeping. Then he scraped out the cracks, getting out the last little dirt that was stuck in the cracks of the Gundicha temple. Then he could bring Kṛṣṇa in the heart. We are very eager to have Kṛṣṇa in the heart. It’s natural.

So we are thinking, let us just throw out the twigs and bring Kṛṣṇa. If we follow the regulatory principles, we think immediately, we can bring Kṛṣṇa in our heart. We can immediately realize what is pure, spontaneous devotional service. We can realize what is our Siddha saloon. We can realize what is our eternal devotional service for the Lord, our Siddha, Pranali and all these things. Just because we are not following, we’re not breaking the four regulative principles. Breaking the four regular principles means we’re not even on the level of a civilized human being. We are completely under the control of Kalim. So simply following the four regular principles is just a basic standard. Then we have to further purify our consciousness and become completely free from all kinds of anarthas. Anarthas in dealing harshly with devotees and doing politics and so many other things.

Anartas in being envious of devotees in Anartas in being cruel to other devotees or other living entities, Jīva Himsa, love, Pūjā, Fortishtha, the anartas of wanting some kind of position, of wanting to be worshipped, the Anarta of prophet of always wanting to get something material or some Kind of gratification for anything we do. And if we don’t get that, then we feel dissatisfied. Why the Guru didn’t smile at me today? Or why I didn’t get a letter in time. So many little. If somehow there’s little delay, then someone is feeling very despondent. That’s natural. One feels desirous. When will I get the mercy of the Guru? That’s positive. But if one is feeling despondent, why should I serve the Guru? I didn’t get a letter reply in time. Or I didn’t get a smile today. Or this thing.

Or he didn’t give me a sweet word. Instead he chastised me. That means we’re desiring Pūjā. We want the Guru to worship us. Because if he doesn’t worship us then we have become disinterested. Then why should I serve the Guru? If there’s any condition and that condition is not met, we won’t serve Kṛṣṇa. We won’t serve the Guru. That means it’s not pure Bhakti. It’s conditional Bhakti. So Niskam Bhakti means there is no condition. And even if Kṛṣṇa tramples us under his feet, we still accept him. That he is our only Lord Naama Para and nobody else. There is no alternative. If the Guru doesn’t give me his mercy, then I stood. I don’t have anywhere else to go. So all I can do is cry and beg the Guru to give his mercy. What else? I have no other way to go.

If Kṛṣṇa won’t give us his mercy, where will we go? To Shiva? To Durga? To some politician? My dear Prime Minister, I want to worship you because you will give me some reciprocation. I am not giving it from Kṛṣṇa. This is all a type of delusion that people are doing. Because sometimes Kṛṣṇa does not immediately respond what we want. So they think they get quicker response from the material people. Or they get quicker response from the Devas or Devī’s. So they go there. But pure devotion. Whether Kṛṣṇa gives us immediate mercy or whether he gives us mercy at his own timetable, we are still sold out. Kṛṣṇa is our only Lord. The Brajavasis. Whether Kṛṣṇa comes back to Vrindavan or doesn’t come to Vrindavan, they don’t have any other Lord. Therefore Kṛṣṇa is always living in Vrindavan. Because either seen or unseen, Prakat or Aprakat.

Because their devotion is so pure in this material world. Rich people are worshipped because of their money. When they become poor, everybody forgets them. So here Kṛṣṇa has Such devotees, whether Kṛṣṇa reveals his glories to them, whether he does it, whether he is visible or invisible to them, whatever, still they have no one else. Even if Nārāyaṇa comes and offers to give them some blessing, they don’t care. They want to ask Nārāyaṇa, where is Kṛṣṇa? What to speak of any other Deva or anyone else, they could care less because they are completely fixed on Kṛṣṇa. To develop that attachment, that love for Kṛṣṇa. The process is to serve the Guru by serving the Guru. All these stages are realized when we actually develop spontaneous devotion for Kṛṣṇa, which is described in the later verses by Prahlad, That when a devotee hears.

The glories of the Lord, at that time he becomes ecstatic. There’s two very nice verses. Anyway, there’s no time going over. So just basically these verses state when such a liberated person appeared to already hear us at the time. Transcendental qualities and activities of the Lord’s incarnations for the performance of various pastimes. His hair stands on end on his body, tears fall from his eyes. And in his spiritual realization his voice falters. Sometimes he very openly dances, sometimes he sings loudly, sometimes he cries. Thus he expresses the transcendental jubilation. When a devotee becomes like a person haunted by a ghost, he laughs and very loudly chants about the qualities of the Lord. Sometimes he sits to perform meditation and he offers respects to every living entity considering him a devotee of the Lord.

Constantly breathing very heavily, he becomes careless of social etiquette and loudly chants like a madman. Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, O my Lord. O Master of the Universe. So all this is achieved by worship of the Guru. This is the process. When we have that roti by worshiping the Guru, then we become qualified to realize our eternal sorrow, which is Prabhupāda also reveals. After achieving that spontaneous love for the Lord by worshipping and serving the Guru, then one can understand the Lord, in other words, what the Lord’s position is, what our position is, what our relationship is, whether we’re a saka or a saki, or whether we’re whatever we are in our relationship with the Lord that is revealed. By the simple method of Bhakti Yoga.

So from the beginning to the end, the process of Bhakti Yoga base is serving Kṛṣṇa through His devotees, serving Kṛṣṇa through his representative the Guru. So on the day of the Asa Pūjā, we worship the spiritual master on this Vyāsa Pūjā day as the representative of Lord Vyasadeva, who is the incarnation of Kṛṣṇa himself, the Guru only speaks what heard from his Guru what is authorized in the Vedas, in our disciplic succession, in all the Vaishnava, four bona fide disciplic successions, we follow the Vedas. The Vedas are the mother and the Guru is the father. Guru, Gītā, Shastra, Madha and Vyasadeva. He is giving us the Shastra. So he is the original Guru. So we cannot, Guru cannot go against the original Guru against Kṛṣṇa.

So this Liasa Pūjā day in Iskcon, disciples are allowed to express without any inhibition up to the extent of their imagination and devotion desire worship to the spiritual master. All of the disciples of. The disciples of Śrīla Prabhupāda on this particular day, they’re able to openly express the devotion to their guru even in the temple room various Pujas. This principle Prabhupāda gave actually that the disciple has a duty to worship the guru. But that should be given with love and devotion spontaneously. So he said that devotion to guru cannot be restricted. Actually, there’s no limit to how much a disciple can do for his guru in devotion. He said if a disciple wants to build a palace for his guru, he can. So we’re building a palace. We built a palace for Prabhupāda and Vrindavan is Samadhi new Vrindavan we built the palace.

Unfortunately it’s been stolen from us. But it was built by Prabhupāda disciples for Prabhupāda in Iskcon we built. We’re building Prabhupāda Samadhi here in Māyāpur. This is the biggest temple in Māyāpur. Of course, it’s smaller than our proposed temple for Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Sometimes when Prabhupāda the disciples were showing so much devotion for Prabhupāda and his God brothers came and objected Prabhupāda he would tell us it’s not power that they objected. Disciple can offer unlimited worship to his guru. So Prabhupāda was very much promoting this principle Guru Bhakti. So. But of course, Prabhupāda was the founder Acharya. He was the guru of everyone in his Khan and the founding guru. And after Śrīla Prabhupāda Prakat Leela his manifested visible pastimes coming to a their apricot states or invisible states. When his disciples start initiate, then where there becomes a very critical situation.

All of us want to the Prabhupāda disciples naturally want to worship Prabhupāda with that same unlimited extent that the disciples of the present The Prabhupāda following gurus, they want to offer unlimitedly worship or should want to, But and how to balance? So that’s not fully worked out. Some ad hoc decisions are made, many of which are probably the lasting decisions, some of which are not fully admittedly by various devotees, are not fully yet found their own level because of various excesses and misbehavior by people in the position of guru or followers. So in this plural society where we have Prabhupāda, our founder Acharya, we have many of his disciples who want to worship Prabhupāda and keep Prabhupāda’s position in the foremost position.

At the same time, their disciples want to worship their guru as the representative of the supreme personality of God and with all the respect due to the supreme personality of God, which is also unlimited. So it’s very critical position how to balance all these transcendental relationships and etiquettes which are simultaneously one and different, simultaneously one at the same time there different spiritual levels. So we are trying to do it in the best possible way we can by reserving the temple rule completely for Śrīla Daobad except on the day of the Biyasa Pūjā of his following Anagato gurus. This only not publicly. Right now we don’t say His Divine grace or Śrī Lanka in public, except for on these very special occasions or in assemblies outside the temple, strictly amongst the disciples. These are the basic ISKCON rules to try to balance these different considerations.

But the actual principle, of course, apart from balancing these considerations, is we want to offer unlimited worship to Prabhupāda as all of our guru. And it’s natural for each disciple to want to offer as much devotion, as much service as he can to his guru. Just as if Kṛṣṇa is personally present. If Kṛṣṇa suddenly came when Vishnu would suddenly appear on Garuḍa before the great kings at some sacrifice, there’s no limit to how much worship and devotion they would offer. So when one is imbibed with that consciousness, and here the representative of Kṛṣṇa is present before us. So we want to offer so much devotion and worship, we cannot put a limit to that worshipping through festivals and flowers. This is one type of worship. This is very important.

This also gives us an avenue for completely expressing our devotion in a very spontaneous way. Using Kīrtana stresses. Sound vibration is very much in keeping with Lord Chaitanya’s Kīrtana movement and Bhagavad Dharma. At the same time, there’s the practical dealings with the Guru in previous Time the Guru would be living in the ashram, doing his daily worship or doing his meditation. Disciples would be helping, washing his clothes. Lord Kṛṣṇa would bring the firewood for Sandapani Guni from the forest would give for Sudan and other God brothers. They would come and get classes from the Guru. Now we saw a different level of guru Disciple relationship with Bhakti Siddhānta, Up Vishnupat, Bhakti Siddhānta, Saraswati Thapur, expanding the preaching all over, sending disciples to Europe, to the west, albeit they were not fully successful in the beginning in his presence.

But that Moore we saw he was already sending devotees here and there, expecting much wider kind of preaching based on Guru Bhakti. That was captured, that Moore was completely captured by Prabhupāda. And he put it to full manifestation in iskcon. And he personally took up the order of Guru and established Kṛṣṇa consciousness all over the world. Wherever he went, he boldly said that the guru is sitting by my side at every moment. He was always feeling that the guru was with him. And by the Guru’s blessings, everything was going on. Whatever he was doing, he was thinking, is this pleasing to my Guru? Is this pleasing to Guru and Kṛṣṇa? To Guru and Goranga. So this is our principle.

Why so many books are being distributed, why temples are being made, why preaching is going on in ISKCON is all based on devotion to Guru and Gaurāṅga. So on this sacred day. For all of you, a day of reckoning for myself, a day when I appeared in this world, somehow by the causes mercy of the Guru, now I have to serve him by also being a guru and guiding disciples, attaching them to the Samkirta movement, to the Sampradāya. So this very special day, it’s a time when everyone can remember according to their own perspective and point of vision, how important is the mercy of Guru and how it is the source of all strength for us, the source of all devotion for us, the source of all perfection for us, the source of all transcendental mercy. Thank you very much.

Actually, the last point, but I was trying to say though how Prabhupāda was using. What I wanted to say was that compared to the old gurus who were just in the ashram, Prabhupāda showed a new kind of guru Seva. Few devotees were doing their washing, their clothes and cooking for Prabhupāda. But then he engaged so many devotees and working on computers to translate his books, to publish his books, to build temples, to go to new places. Mukti Siddhanda Śrīla Prabhupāda they showed a new kind of guru seva compared to this. In this verse, it only mentions doing personal menial service.

But to go and distribute books, to go and enroll a life member, to go and dig a foundation for a temple, that this is all done as a guru seva, even if one is thousands or tens of thousands of miles away from the guru physically, but one is doing everything as a service to the guru. That’s a new view. But this principle is the same. It’s just that Prabhupāda has expanded in a worldwide basis. So of course, when we travel around the world as a guru, the devotees are always wanting to, especially the marajis. And sometimes the good men cook. They want to prepare so many nice preparations, they want to do cooking. Although there’s more people want to do cooking than there are who want to do their cloth washing.

I don’t know why, but anyway, they have enthusiasts to do different kinds of menial service. Some this is all a very good symptom. But now, because ISKCON is also a different type of preaching organization, that is not the only service. We should see our service in practical ways also, that even apart from directly physically serving the guru, it’s a direct service. When we are preaching on behalf of guru and Kṛṣṇa, when we are preaching on behalf of the disciples, etc. When we are helping in any aspect of the preaching, whether management, whether devoted pūjā, so many other types of supporting roles to the direct preaching, these are all services to the guru, which Prabhupāda has now expanded the number of services we can do to guru and Kṛṣṇa unlimitedly. Actually, we are so grateful to Prabhupāda now.

People in all walks of life and all varieties of activities, they can engage in service to Kṛṣṇa, whether they are physicists or a botanist, whether they are a scientist or whether they are an artist or musician or businessman or housewife, they can do so many services to the guru. Say also a of course you get so many opulent dishes this way. It may not be very good for the health of the consciousness to continually get so many opulent dishes, even though the size of the disciples also offer what the guru wants, like some simple samji with little ghee. Every time they want to offer fried foods, how can we go on so in this way, just like we try to offer the guru what he wants, we want to offer the whole discipline session. What they want.

Prabhupāda, Lord Chaitani, discipline, succession, want this Kṛṣṇa conscious movement to be spread they want that every conditioned soul can get love for Kṛṣṇa. Let it be spread in the whole universe to every town and village. So this is a special service we’re doing out of devotion to Guru and gaurāṅga. So I thank everyone for helping in the Sankirtan movement. Any help, you can do either directly to the guru to help him in his variety of services. Previously, that guru was doing his pūjā. So the sahib will bring firewood to do the fire yajna. Now we are doing different pūjā, computer air flights. So many other types of pujas are there to do the yagya, sankirta and harinam. So now instead of bringing fireware, people are bringing discs, computer discs. Here, Gurudev, here’s a new disc for your translation.

While they are bringing where they’re bringing the air ticket after playing and getting to the travel agents and the airlines, getting all the bookings made, here’s instead of firewood, they’re bringing the air ticket. It’s also wood. It’s paper, but it’s a different type of wood. So like this, they’re offering various kinds of help to the guru. Without that, it’s very difficult for the guru to do everything himself if he has to gather the wood, get the ghee and do everything. So the disciples are bringing. So to do the worldwide preaching, to do worldwide devotional service, to spread this movement, to develop ISKCON to the level that Prabhupāda wanted, he said, I have given you the shell, I have given you the structure, now you have to fill it in.

So it means so many things have to be included and brought by the devotees, which they are doing out of devotion to the guru. So we should see this, that this all following in the same way. This natural. Now in the modern world, it is being done in a modern way. But the principle is the same. Hare Kṛṣṇa.

(Side B of the Cassette)

Without any fear of reprisal. Haloni mentioned two philosophical points about Guru pure devotee, which is synonymous term guru and pure devotee. It says in Shastra that the heart and chemistry of a pure devotee is that his heart becomes soft like ghee. So I would like to draw the analogy that it is undoubtedly a visible fact which can be observed that Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja’s heart and chemistry is like an ocean of ghee, Just like the Ganges which overflows. And such softness is observable in Jayapatākā Mahārāja’s renowned amount of compassion. Now, compassion is not simply some philosophical concept only or semantics, but it is something which is very real and manifest. And it is indicative of not just knowledge but vegan realize knowledge.

Because compassion can only exist when one realizes what are the causes and the facts of the suffering of all the living beings who are engaged by their materialistic tendencies in the material world, driven by the forces of the three modes of nature. So before one can actually manifest compassion, there’s a prerequisite of realization realized knowledge, and that is also a quality or trait of pure devotion. So therefore I state that Jaya Pataka Swami Maharaj Rla Charyapad, a classic pure devotee whose heart is like the overflowing Ganges of Ghee, and he always shows compassion to not only his disciples, but to all the Vaishnavas. That’s point number one. And point number two is that Shastra also reads that when one sees a pure Vaishnava, that one remembers the Lord, one remembers Kṛṣṇa and his pastimes and his associates, etc.

So similarly, when Jaya Pataka Maharaj, as he said, takes that piece of paper and flies around the world wherever he goes. When he is seen by the devotees, you know what they think of when they see him. He is synonymous with Si Māyāpur Daom. When they see him. And when he lectures in all the temples in the various places of the world, then immediately people say, oh, Māyāpur. So practically speaking, of all the Godbrothers and devotees, he has become synonymous with the holy Dham of Śrī Māyāpur. And Śrī Māyāpur Dham means what.

It.

Is, Lord Caitanda’s Dham. So when a pure devotee is seen, when Jayapatākā Maharaj is seen preaching all over the world, they think of see Māyāpur Dham and Lord Caitanna. So this is the proof, the Praman of pure devotion, the compassionate overflowing heart of Ghee, which is indiscriminate for all people and all the Vaiavas and Immediately one’s mind is drawn to Kṛṣṇa in the form of the Holy Dham and Lord Caitanna Mah Prabhu, the devotee is also known as Person Bhagavad. So Jaya Pataka Maharaj is also Person Bhagavat, but more specific I can say he is walking Chaitanya Charitamrita,.

Thank you.

Very much to Danya Prabhu.

I request Kala Prabhu to say a few words.

In this material world of the pure devotee, Mercy of Lord Caitanya is spread by his representatives. And as I see his grace sitting on this swan carrier plying the ocean of nectarine service to Lord Caitanya, I notice how he’s sitting sideways in this boat. And this sideways sitting is giving him a view, not just directly where he’s going, but he’s looking around to see who he can take with him back home to the spiritual world. I know that Shakya Danya Prabhu has just noted how the Charyapad is traveling throughout the world and inviting everybody to take up service to Lord Caitanya. Actually, I am not seeing really anyone else in our society who’s traveling as vigorously and as broadly as Maharaj is doing. And this takes a tremendous amount of effort and determination to carry on with the Order of Rla Prabhupda.

Rla Prabhupda traveled widely everywhere, inviting everyone. And so even though there’s so much nectar here in the holy Dhum, Acharya Path is going out and serving the Order of Śrīla Prabhupda to give everybody the opportunity. When I first became a devotee, Charyapd’s fame preceded my joining the temple in Montreal because I didn’t really know Charyapda at the time, but not personally anyway. But his fame actually was practically instantaneous with his coming to the service of Rla Prabhupda. Immediately, his service was recognized by Rla Prabhupda and also all the devotees worldwide. And as Satydanya Prabhu just explained that everywhere he goes, the devotees simply see Māyāpur coming to spread the dust of Lord Caitaya’s Holy Dham everywhere and smashing any barriers that stand in the way of engaging in full devotional service.

He’s simply removing all those barriers with a simple process of disseminating the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, which are so nectarine coming from a pure devotee. One can actually relish these people pastimes. Many years ago, when my wife was expecting the first, my first child I was reading the whole Chaitan Chartamrita. And I found at times it was very difficult to read Caitain Chartamrita. Because in itself describes itself as so sweet that it’s irresistible. But so hot that you can hardly stand it. But Charyapat has made every. He’s removed the hotness of the Chaitanya chart, Amrita. And made the entire presentation completely sweet and relishable. So that although at that instance years ago when I was reading like that. I found it difficult at times. Times to continue coming. The pastimes of Lord Chaitanya coming through his lips.

Are never at any time creating any kind of difficulty for me. And consequently I am able to actually relish these pastimes now. Even though so many years have passed. I am actually able to by his grace, appreciate these pastimes. And so many individuals are appreciating his spreading of Kṛṣṇa consciousness like this. So on this special occasion of his appearance. I want to say that with all my heart. Although I am technically Godbrother. That he being is not a Godbrother of equal standing or anything like this. Godbrother doesn’t say equality at all. There’s no oneness in that. But he’s. He’s my and always was my elder is inspiration in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. To see someone as steady in a service and devoted. Despite so many difficulties that come in our devotional life. It’s a symbol of steadiness like this that carries us through times of difficulty.

So I want to thank him very much for that stability. And that in three enthusiasm for speaking about the pastimes of the Lord. And I pray that he simply go on in this way. And as he goes on steadily like this. Then I can continue steadily. Thank you very much. Hare Kṛṣṇa.

We just came to Māyāpur. This before. Then we came to Māyāpur and he was. Thakmaraj was constantly going here and there. Making land deals. Talking to the local people. Doing all the legal business. In Kṛṣṇa Naga. He wasn’t actually sitting down for one. He was everywhere up here and there. And then he started. Little constructions were going on. And he was overseeing the constructions, ordering everything. And by his example he showed that he was never. He was never idle. Not for one month. I never saw him sitting idle, talking nonsense or anything like that. I never ever saw it in the whole of my association with Śrīla Prabhupāda and Taipada Kumaraj. Then in about 19, after we was here for maybe two years.

And he said, we will get these and we will Get a boat and we will go up and down the Ganges and we will preach up there. And we’re saying how we can do that. You know, we have only got few devotees here. We’re struggling simply to maintain our. We can go out. No, no, no. He said we will get. So he got gone in Thai. Did he got both. And somehow or another by his enthusiasm, more and more people are coming. And he got a whole folk program together. And just a few weeks before that were thinking, wow, it’s so difficult just to maintain here in Māyāpur with such a few devotees. Then after that he said, let’s get some bus party to go out, some Sankirtan party. So the same thing again. How we can do it? We have no men here by his desire.

Very soon there was a bus party and they could go out. Sankirtan devotees wasn’t a bus actually, but just devotees started with the party and were going out. Then after that we had bus, he got down and. Then after he started to travel around the world and constantly traveling, constantly preaching. He’s always expanding, expanding even it seems so expensive, impossible for us to expand when we are so limited, with a limited vision. We think we have done so much service, we cannot see beyond it. But somehow or another he has such a great vision that he overlooks the day by day service. And he has such a far reaching side. And he’s simply always thinking of how to expand, how to expand.

And I was thinking that this last four pūrṇimā, how the altar is now expanded also to the former Shaki via Vasta Shaki and Prabhupāda says about these shakis that they set the example for devotional service for the whole world to follow. Because they have no other desire except how to serve Kṛṣṇa. Their only thought is how to increase Kṛṣṇa’s pleasure, how to increase Kṛṣṇa service. And their followers also like the six ghost swamis, we read of them, how they’re constantly engaged, 24 hours in service, in writing, preaching. Somehow or another they’re just expanding the mission of Chaitanya Mahāprabhu. So I think of Chila Charipat when I see these great personalities and when I reflect on them that he has perfectly adopted the mood of the shakis and the mood of the Siska swamis, the Vrindavan, that he’s never. He never wastes one second.

He’s always constantly in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. And the Kṛṣṇa consciousness is not simply for his benefit. I want to sit in the Holy Dharma and chant Hare Kṛṣṇa because it’s so nice. No, he’s only thinking of how to increase, how to expand like that. So seeing such great qualities in Śrīla Charipad I simply aspire to take the dust of his Lord’s feet and follow his example and also always constantly try to be engaged in service in his footsteps. I pray he’s kindly blessed me that I can constantly be his follower and service.

I request shankar shan prabhu to st louis. On this most auspicious day we have all assembled here to celebrate the divine appearance of Shilacharyapad. Shilacharyapad came in Calcutta in 1970 with Śrīla Prupad. You know at that time the Calcutta was very ferocious because the Noxalitis movement so many political agītātion was going on and Śrīla Prabhupāda personally instructed him that you must go and preach Holinam among the Delaware Sea squares planet and South Calcutta Goriar. So that time few devotees five or six they have taken this venture.

To.

Carry out the order of Śrīla Prabhupāda. That time was very difficult. I know personally that time was so ferocious. Even if we go from this locality to that locality it is very dangerous to us. So we can imagine how it was that time. So this is called the faith unto the lotus feet of spiritual master. It is stated in Satsraj. Then one can become perfectly successful in the mission of his life if he acts exactly according to the words hears from the mount of spiritual masters. And the words of the spiritual master is called Shrutola Shrutuvaktu means which indicates that the disciple must carry out the order of the spiritual master by heart and soul. So on this auspicious day all the disciples of Śrīluacharyapad is here.

So they should, you know have a vow that they will carry out the instruction which is prescribed by Śrī Lacharya Then he will be very pleased because Prabhupāda was very pleased because he personally gave so many instruction to Śrīlaacharya. I know personally that time even in Calcutta we have not a single car. We used to go by tram by bus. And now by the mercy of Śrīla Prabhupāda we have so many things. That time preaching was very difficult. So I know that in 1971 I came here in Māyāpur that time that a small hut was there and Jammu Navi was there. As Śrīyapatha was there, Tamam Kṛṣṇa Maharaj was there. They are all have been mood how to carry out the instruction of spiritual master. So in all respects we are seeing that Acharya pad is a perfect spiritual master.

And on this auspices I have composed a few lines. Perfect spiritual master. A pure devotee in the line of disciplinic Shakshishan who came down on this earth with love and devotion. You distribute divine blessings without discrimination. This is your beauty. In my estimation, under the expert guidance of your spiritual master. Planting a devotional seed as an expert gardener. You are a truthful person who never breaks his word of honor. This is your beauty. We love you forever. When you see you in Jayas Shankirtan, we forget everything except your Sicharan. You weep for Simoti Rādhārāṇī. Beyond caste and creed. You preach Godavani. O my beloved godfather. How nicely you serve Kṛṣṇa hour by hour. You are my ever evolution. This is your beauty. We love you forever. The sincere soul will carry out your message.

This is the only way to cut out the material bondage. You distribute the highest primo even in this age. Your devotion and dedication for Prabhupa is out of image. Sila Acharya, my desire is to serve you better. I am fully dependent on your spiritual power. I do not know how to serve my spiritual master. Please mold this fallen soul as you.

Teach that.

We love you forever. We shall have more offerings by God brothers of Śrīla Charyapada in the evening session. Now we shall begin with offerings by disciples. First with His Holiness Bhakti Purushottam.
