20250304 - NMP Addressing Prabhupāda A Party in Caṁpāhāti [Bangla]

4 Mar 2025|English|Navadvīpa Maṇḍala Parikramā|Navadvipa dhama, India

Jaya Śrīla Prabhupāda! Cāṅpāhāṭi is the āśrama of Śrīla Jayadeva Gosvāmī. He was there about thousand years ago. He was a great poet. Rāja Lakṣmaṇa Sena had gone to his house. Before you go there you have to take his permission and go. Then Śrīla Jayadeva Gosvāmī said, “I will go away from here. You behaved badly with me.” Mahārāja Lakṣmaṇa Sena wanted to give him the post of a minister in his cabinet – the designation of a royal poet. But when the Mahārāja heard that Śrīla Jayadeva Gosvāmī was wanting to leave that place, he requested him to at least stay on the other side of the river. That is why Śrīla Jayadeva Gosvāmī made his āśrama there. After that the brother of Gadādhara made his āśrama there. That is why there is the temple of Gaura Gadādhara there. Śrīla Jayadeva Gosvāmī wrote the Gīta-govinda. He wrote many other poems.

He wrote many about Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa. As he was writing, he was not sure if he could write something about Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa was touching the feet of Rādhārāṇī, something like that. He was very confused and closed his writing and told his wife he would go for a bath and come. The Ganges was not very far from his home so he went there. And then came back again in a short while! He started looking into the writing and started writing something. Then he had prasāda and left again. After that, the actual Jayadeva Gosvāmī came to his house after bath. He say that his wife was eating prasāda! There is a general etiquette that the wife generally eats after the husband. So he asked the wife, “Why are you eating?” She said, “You had come and written something and then had prasāda and went back!” He went and saw what was written, and saw that what he had a doubt about writing, that place the person had written. He told his wife that, “You are the most fortunate person! Lord Kṛṣṇa had come and you saw Him and have served prasāda to Lord Kṛṣṇa and therefore you are the most fortunate person! I had gone for a bath and Lord Kṛṣṇa came then, I could not see Him! That which I thought I should write, He wrote it and went away.” This way, the wife of Jayadeva Gosvāmī got the mercy of Lord Kṛṣṇa. Jayadeva Gosvāmī also got the mercy of Lord Kṛṣṇa. Whatever he could not write in the Gīta-govinda, Lord Kṛṣṇa filled up and wrote that for him.

Your well-wisher always,

Jayapatākā Swami
