The following is a lecture on Navadvīpa-maṇḍala Parikramā given by His Holiness Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja on March 5, 1982 – in Śrī Māyāpur, India.
They will find their ways, you know, when they be performing devotional service. If one has qualities which are of the material contamination, still he will see himself separate from the supreme Lord. He will see his interests as separate from the interests of the supreme Lord. That’s where the meaning of a separatist is, that his interests are separate from Ka’s interests. And according to his interests, he gets known in one of the categories of emotion. If his interests are in the mode of ignorance, then he is in devotional service may fall into the category of ignorance. If his interests are in the mode of passion, the mode of ignorance, the interests would be, for instance, too much sleeping, too much eating, the causes of sleeping, dreaming himself into big positions or fantasies, delusions of grandeur, or dealing with others in very obnoxious ways, nasty ways.
So because he’s seen his interest is different than the interests of Kṛṣṇa. In other words, this is the desire of the devotee, and the desire of Kṛṣṇa is not one, it is two. Then there is a separation of interest there.
And India.
Devotional service is contaminated by ignorance. And if his interests are in the quality of passion, he desires great wealth, and he’s working very hard to get it, working very hard to get optimist, working very hard to get positions, working very hard to become recognized, then his interests are again separate from. He is not working simply for the sake of kha. He’s working for himself also to do devotional service, to gain recognition, gain position, power, wealth, whatever, opulence. So he is also a separatist in.
The sense that his interests are different.
Than Ka’s interests and they are contaminated by passions. And even in goodness, one’s interests may be separate in the sense that he is wishing to gain a great position amongst the demigods. Or he wishes to become very peaceful, very serene, undisturbed, very quiet, nicely tissue contamination of the mode of goodness. But Ifai should be above all of these three separate interests. He should have his interest to be what Kavanaugh, what God wants, I want. That’s the attitude of the pure. Vice versa. But Kishna wants, I want. That may mean he may send me to any condition, he may extend any kind of misery to me. Still, let us say now, today there are so many obstacles for us cdc men to be here on this. I don’t want to describe them, but there are unlimited obstacles. We are constantly having to conquer over.
But somehow or another, because Kṛṣṇa and we have to do, regardless of whatever miseries. Let us say also in the purification.
Process, let us say, you have to.
Accept chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa Mantra and hearing it. That is. You think I am kidding, but that is the most difficult thing of all this. To actually hear the high Kṛṣṇa mantra is the most difficult of all. Everybody thinks over, but the mind simply refuses to surrender the intelligence refuses to just give up all its speculation. All of it’s just discriminating and thinking about all the things that happened yesterday or supposed to happen today or we want to happen tomorrow. The greatest austerity of all is there.
Just here, the highest emergency.
But because we see ourselves separate from Kṛṣṇa, there’s mind is constantly thinking of things we want to do, we want to think, we want to go because of the separatist nature. Therefore, we must come to the platform of absolute connection. This Ramanujacharya describes it as emerging of the desire of the devotee into the desire of the Lord. That is the only possibility there is of merging. Faction, you cannot merge. Nobody can merge. You cannot merge because you are an individual living entity. You are an atomic portion, eternally individual. You have an eternal position as a part and parcel of the supreme. You can never merge because merging means that you diffuse into another substance. You diffuse. Diffuse means it breaks up into little particles. A Brahman is non differentiated. There is no such thing as a diffusion in Brahman. There are no particles.
It is all of the absolute nature, oneness. There’s no question of diffusion of little particles into the oneness. Because then the one is made of little particles. But it is not. It is supposed to have been, according to the Māyāvādī, one non differentiated substance. Therefore, it is a contradiction. You cannot merge. It is impossible. Yes. Okay, so there is no question of merging. Once I was recording Śrīla Brahbad a long time ago, and I had recorded it in stereo, but I only had one speaker to play it back. He didn’t have much money in those days. Then I said to Śrīla Prabhupāda. I said, prabhupāda. He said, can you please play the tape back? I said, yes, but you can’t hear it in stereo like you were hearing it in your headphones.
Because I only have one speaker, I have to merge the two channels into one. Baba said, merge? Never. That was very funny. So there’s no question of mercy. Yet still the devotees desire becomes one with the supreme lord’s desire. He simply wishes what Kṛṣṇa wishes. What Kṛṣṇa wishes. The devotee wishes what Kṛṣṇa wants. The devotee is prepared to lay down his very life to give, to deliver this singularity of purpose. Their aim is one. Yavasayatnika booty aka hakuna. Those who are a fixed determination and a fixed intelligence, their determination is fixed, their aim is one. But when we have so many different aims, so many different purposes, it is because there is difference of interest.
When one is overwhelmed by the desire to enjoy material opulences in the form of sense gratification, whatever it may be, then the resolute determination and devotional service, that singular purpose does not manifest. It cannot manifest because singularity refers to a single point. And that single point is Kishna, the absolute truth. And as long as we are not surrendering and pointing our whole direction towards Kṛṣṇa, than there are so many other centers. The real center is the absolute center, Kishna. But because there are so many other little centers. Me, me, me. Everybody is saying me. We are all in charge of our own party, the Me party. We are the chairman, commander in chief of the ME party, each and every one of us. And because of this difference, there are so many opinions. Because my opinion is based on my sense gratification.
Your opinion is based on your sense gratification. Each and every one of us have different senses because we have different bodies and therefore we have different methods of gaining sense gratification. Therefore, each and every one of us are going to constantly have different opinions. But when there is one center, one central pivot point, Kṛṣṇa, and satisfying Kṛṣṇa, then somehow or another, there will be one opinion. And that opinion is just to serve the supreme personality God. And whatever he wants, I will do. That is the real singularity, real merging of the interest of the devotee with the supreme Lord. And this is the purified platform, the platform of the pure devotees of the Lord. We must somehow rise. Although it’s seemingly impossible, it is not impossible. It is not impossible. It is quite possible. But we just simply have to surrender to the Lord.
Jetta, are there any questions? Yes.
Modes of nature. Mode of nature means a characteristic way in which the Prakriti, or material energy, acts. Procreate is material energy, and it acts in certain ways. Now, according to the characteristics of those ways it acts, it is known as a mode. Mode means a particular characteristic form of action. So when it is acting in goodness, when those things are what you would call good, they are characterized by goodness, then it is called the mode of goodness. And thus, when Prakriti acts in the material energy, in what we call this good way, then it is known as the mode of goodness. And when it acts according to the characteristics, which is passionate and these characteristics are all listed in the Bhagavad Judas. There is all a certain kind of destination for each.
The destination of the man in the mode of goodness is heavenly plan. The destination of the man in his mode of passion he remains as a human being on the earth we find it. Or in the mode of ignorance he degrades into lower species of life. The happiness of each is conditioned by these. The food he eat is conditioned by these. The knowledge he has is conditioned by this mode. There’s so many things. There’s renunciation in the different modes. Everything is there in the different modes of nature. So according to the characteristic way in.
Which the material energy is pushing the.
Living entity, it is known as goodness fashion.
Yes.
Yes. Myavaris are definitely under the modes of nature. They are still definitely. Although they wish to become freed from they may attain to a higher position, a higher platform. They may even get the soap, they may even glimpse liberation. But why is it they always come back again to perform welfare activities? Just like viva kananda, the famous mayavas. Why he established so many Ramakṛṣṇa missions which are schools, hospitals, this and that. If he was liberated and satisfied in Brahmande, then what is the need to come back and open so many schools? What does the use of say if he is so satisfied and if every path, whatever you do, that’s the best, that’s the way you go back to the supreme to become God. Then what does it need to teach anybody anything? Because they’re already doing everything. Why do you talk so much?
So obviously the most influence of the motives, nature mixed goodness and ignorance. That is called mental speculation. What was the question? How can they merge? Say your question again. Rabbit this way. Because they are so. The reason is like this avashuda buddhaya. They have impure knowledge because their consciousness is contaminated. Therefore the mukta manina means to think. They think they’re liberated, but they’re not liberated. Just because you think you’re liberated doesn’t make you liberate. Real liberation is when you are past that platform and are engaged in your natural constitutional position with the Lord. You have to be in one of the five races. You have to have some relationship with the Lord somehow or another. Yes. So what? You make your desire. No, you make Shila Prabhupāda’s desire your desire.
Because otherwise we can switch Shila Prabhupāda’s instructions around so that somehow or another is saying what we want. Śrīla Prabhupāda’s desire is there. Make his desire your desire. What if Śrīla Prabhupāda doesn’t want you to be a good? You may desire, and you may call it spiritual desire. Of course, all desire is ultimately coming from the spiritual platform. But real desire for devotee should be the desire of his spiritual master. This spiritual master confirms, if this spiritual master desires, then you desire, then you’re safe. We are not desireless. Of course not. Desire is the basis of existence.
Yes.
But if you’re fully engaged in the service of your spiritual master, then there’s no question of having any, even any time to have other desires. If you’re fully engaged, your mind is fully absorbed in preaching or book distribution. I mean, how can you have any other design? If you have other designs, it means there is not full absolute absorption in the devotional service. Just like if you’re. If you’re properly hearing. I know I am speaking. That engages me fully. I can’t do anything else. I can’t be thinking of anything else. Otherwise I couldn’t speak properly. It all be all jumbled, mumbles, everything. You know, you have to concentrate to keep everything together, the thoughts coming one after another, the sentences and proper english grammar. And to keep the eye, you have to say the philosophy. You can’t, you know, speculate things.
You have to be bona fide. So what question is there for other desires?
There’s no question of it.
And the hearers as well. You’re actually listening. Everything’s taken up by the listening class.
There’s no question about the desire. Isn’t it as an example or just.
Like when you’re eating prasadam, you’re fully satisfied eating. You don’t have any other desires. You don’t desire to go to sleep and reading. You’re fully taken up by that devotional service. That is what is so nice about this bhakti yoga process because it is completely absorbing us. When we engage our senses in the service of the master of the senses, we become fully absorbed in that and fully become completely all these other things that flow to it. I am not talking about very advanced state. This is right now. Everybody’s experiencing. When you are hearing, then all those desires float away. And those who are out distributing books, how many here are book distributors? So many. So you can verify when you are out distributing books and you’re into it.
You know, when you’re not in Māyā, you don’t have any other desire than to give the fallen souls these books, isn’t it? Otherwise, how could you succeed? If you’re standing out there on the street with your book in your hand.
And you’re thinking, I really wish I’d get something to eat. Mmm.
I really want to go to sleep. Why doesn’t everybody stand up and speak and crazy? I mean, how many books you will receive? Nothing.
Isn’T it?
And you cannot tell me, Lokhanath Maharaj, my dear expert preacher, savior of the Indians. And you have other desires when you are out preaching. I cannot believe that one. Humility. Show of artificial humility.
Yes.
To try is not difficult.
Succeeding.
How do you succeed? By trying hard. Just like, you know, when you’re chanting, all of a sudden the mind says, oh, I am that too.
And this is that.
Gone. And, you know, it fools you for, you know, maybe a good 510 minutes sometimes. And so finally you say, wait a minute.
Did it again.
Get back here. Try it again. Try it again. Try it again. So finally, the mind is captured under control. Then by the logic of that question, Kṛṣṇa is capricious and whimsical. What is the question? You accept that? He said, listen what you understand? He said, if everything is under the control of nature, if everything is controlled, then if we are simply thinking we’re the doers, then how is it that we have to suffer reactions? That I counted. Then you are accusing Kṛṣṇa of being capricious and whimsical. How do you accept that? No. Then there must be something wrong with the logic. And the something wrong with the logic is that although all the activities are carried out by nature, still the desires that are coming that cause the activities to occur, they come from the heart.
There is a minute independence there, just like they’re on my new danger. Maybe it’s the desire of the GDC. Get out of here, Leslie. Whose desire is stronger? The living entity has a minute independence to act either for own degradation or to act for his own elevation. And that minute independence means just like, here we are. There’s some ant over here. I can squish the ant with my finger if I want. If I have the desire to do something nasty, I can do that. And because of that, I am going to become implicated. But the action of doing that, the action which causes this physical frame, a subtle frame to act, is directed by that desiree. That desire is not controlled by prophecy because it is actually coming from a spiritual platform that is defeated as the soul is spiritual energy.
And all desire comes from the soul ultimately. And that is not controlled by profit. But once the desire manifests into the ahamkara, it is immediately controlled by the material. And then from that point on, it just assistance which you are working. Therefore, you have minute independence. To act in a way to surrender to Kṛṣṇa or act in a way not to. And that is including to do things according to the vedic literature, or to do things not according to the vedic literature. You have that freedom, you have that independence. It is not that Kṛṣṇa is engaging you in sinful activities to make you go to hell, or that Kṛṣṇa is engaging him in pious activities to make him go to heaven. Why Kṛṣṇa would do it? Kṛṣṇa has got nothing to do. Kṛṣṇa gains nothing if you saw, Kṛṣṇa gains nothing if you enjoy.
Kṛṣṇa doesn’t want to see you suffer. Why Kṛṣṇa would do such a thing? He has no reason whatsoever to do it. It is simply your desire. Everything is resting on desire.
Yes.
And just see, our desire was strong. That’s right. He’s desiring at that point something that is emanating from him, aversion to Kṛṣṇa, and that is causing that. How it manifests, though that, see, this is very tricky. Always devotees, they try to boil it down to this. You cannot, Kṛṣṇa says in Bhagavad Gītā, the intricacies of action. And what is to understand what is action? What is in action? Very difficult. Intricacies of action are very difficult because there are too many factors and no human being can actually figure out exactly what’s going on. That’s why the super soul does. Super soul is far beyond our ability to comprehend. He takes care of how all these things balance. But we cannot understand. Because I have within this frame, although I am controlled, I am also controlled by the modes.
I can also take shape, shelter of the vedic injunction. And that brings me out of those modes of nature, or it engages me in my modes of nature according to specific duties, occupational duties given to people in particular modes of nature. So there are many factors. Many, many factors. They’re involved in action. We cannot. Don’t try and boil it down, just try and understand the principles. Then in any specific instance, you will have enough ability, the tools will be there to conquer over the modes of nature. But to absolutely try to understand how everything is happening. Nobody has ever. Yes, it is stated in the chaitan char times in much as it does yogī when he comes to the platform that’s called Tanavaki Satoshi manasal for jumping.
In Yogī Astanga yoga practices, the jñāna stage is the stage which is just before the samadhi, by which one at that point views the super soul. Within the heart. That is part of the Astanga process. Dhana means you have absorbed every oil extending. So jñāna stays in the heart. Dnana stage means you see the super soul in the heart. Now, at that stage, Yogī views the super soul, and he’s looking at the super soul. Now, if he thinks, oh, how nice I look, he immediately goes to him. If he’s just dealing the super soul with curiosity, generally that’s what it is. This vision has come to him and he’s meditating on it. But because his intelligence is not exactly working, he’s not active on the intellectual platform. He may not have complete comprehension of who he is doing.
He knows he is doing the object of his meditation, but exactly how that object of meditation relates to him, he hasn’t gotten into it because of lack of purification. So by meditating, gradually he becomes attached to that form. And by the attachment, he begins to develop a little love. And immediately, service meditation, immediately he goes to the dust because of that manifestation of love and attachment. And then a love means service. You can’t have service without love. You know, you can’t have love without service. So therefore, the yogī immediately advances. How does Kṛṣṇa treat them? If one is sincere? Kṛṣṇa treats you in many ways. Kṛṣṇa, he sometimes just likes to. Kṛṣṇa, master, he uses the rose, he uses the club. We were of the club. Club. Others were in the rose club. We were in the club.
Prabhupāda used to beat us completely, severely in this way. Whatever the mode of nature was, it wasn’t taken into consideration just to end up fully, totally, or don’t we give it all up right here on the spot? But Kṛṣṇa, you will act in different ways for different reasons. It’s like sometimes you are in the mode of passion. Very much want to see these positions.
So Kṛṣṇa says, okay, you take this.
And then here we are busy working very hard, maintaining our position. Rah, rah. And then all of a sudden, Kṛṣṇa takes away a piece here. He did it, he did it. There we go again. Remedy. All of a sudden, Kṛṣṇa goes, what was that? He did it, he did it, he.
Did it, did it.
And then gradually, pretty soon, everything. And then we’re left with nothing.
All of a sudden, we have to understand, wait a minute. Everything’s been taken away.
Now what? Well, I can just blame everybody, or.
I can understand that it’s the supreme.
Personality of Godhead is descending in his merciful form and time, destroying office, taking away everything, voicing us to surrender. That’s a nice verse.
If I can remember that.
That if you are sincere, the supreme personality of God has. He will take everything away from you. Just like when you pray to the supreme Lord. Oh. Oh God. Please give me this.
Give me this.
Give me this.
Give me this. Yes, yes.
I will take away everything and give.
Him my lotus peace.
Because I am very intelligent. Mister Modi. He’s very foolish. He’s praying for so many material opulences. But I am not so foolish as to give him a benediction which will cause him harm. Therefore, I take away everything and give.
Him my lotus peace. And this vacation that deals with us.
Now I can tell his lotus peace to you. If you don’t accept them, then you’re completely. And that’s you older followers. Christmas does it to everybody. Now, what we do when he does it, that. But that is also favor. You commit offenses and devotional service. You should not do that. But you’re doing it anyway. Because it takes away from you and says, all right, you keep doing that. All right.
See this?
You commit offense. Well, here’s reaction. And finally one day we realized, yes, maybe I should stop committing offenses. Then I won’t get any more reactions. The kids showing his favor that way too. Sustaining is the struggle. The struggle itself is the sustenance of this universe. If the living entities weren’t struggling to enjoy this universe. Then why should Kṛṣṇa keep it here? He’s keeping it here just for you.
Yes.
Devotional service is not in mode. Devotional service is a process. And it is a pure, transcendental spiritual process. What is in mode is you. It’s.
(Side B of the Cassette)
Speak of your service as being contemporary. It’s like hearing enchanting is a pure perfect prophet. But when I do it’s a complete offense.
Yes.
I can’t even hear you.
Right. Realize.
They realized the Brahman. That did not mean they merged into the Brahmin. Because they were still wandering all over the universe doing so many things and saying so many things. Of course, they were liberated. Liberated means they were completely liberated from affection of the material qualities. They had no affection to the material qualities. They were completely transcendental to all material qualities. But they were not yet fully engaged in the Sanātana dharma of eternal service and lotus seat of the Lord. No, because they’re not myavaris. Brahma kumaras are not myvadis. They were transcendentally realized personalities. They were not. Māyā vai.
You were saying that it’s.
Due to enviousness that we’re here. But Kṛṣṇa assures us that once having achieved his abode, we can’t fall down again. Yet Jai and Vijay fell from Vaikuṇṭha. Was that a special case?
Yeah, sure. That was the case of the Lord wishing to have his devotees to fight with. Because the demons aren’t such good demons as D’uzo. Did you ever notice? You know how the Vaikuṇṭha players, just like in the Ramayana. Oh, such a good. Because all they have devotee can be a really good demon. Because only a devotee can really fight with kissnas in a really nice way. Because the other demons, they just run away. If Kṛṣṇa really wants to have a good fight, that means service. Kṛṣṇa wants to fight. That’s service for Kṛṣṇa. The devotee does his service and he’s pleasing Kṛṣṇa by the fighting. So the demons, they won’t even give Kṛṣṇa the satisfaction of fighting with him. A lot of times, a lot of demons, they say, I won’t even fight with that Kṛṣṇa give him any pleasure. I am kidding.
But Kṛṣṇa really wants to fight and really enjoy a big demon. Not just these little two big demonstration. He was a real big, huge demon. And he calls on him to vote. Because previously had heard the Shimadvagatam from his father Beyatic and he had become championship. But still even more so he felt, what do I want to go out there for? And become attached again to the material energy. I can say this is well within the womb. I said, here you are my father. You’re supposed to be incarnation. And Kṛṣṇa, whatever you’re attached to me, you want me to come out. You call me your son. This and that.
Focus.
If you are influenced in that way. Imagine me, I am not going nowhere. You cannot avoid it. But you accept the contamination for the sake of serving your spiritual man. That doesn’t mean we all run around now and go, oh, no. But to what degree is there we have to accept? Just like there are big chariots, especially the Ramanuji tempurdaya, you know, I just tell you, they travel with diamonds of men around them, and nobody is allowed touch them. Nobody is allowed to even breathe on them, come near them when they take bath in the river, their clothes are handed to them on a stick. They are just completely avoiding any contamination whatsoever. Yeah, but then they don’t go to american streets. They don’t go to european streets where there’s only contamination. This is different, this different understanding of this, of the spiritual practice.
So because we are following the footsteps of Lord Netanyahu Mahāprabhu and Śrīla Prabhupāda, we have to accept the mission of going to these contaminated places and accepting contamination for the sake of the mission. Therefore, Birde Tanya has guaranteed that insult his devotees. You go, you may be apart from me for some time due to these mission, but don’t you worry, when you come back, you will come back to me again and everything will be true. Just by doing this for the Lord, Shaitan, you become the topmost devotee of the Lord. Although those who don’t take the risk, they may be very great. But if you want to become the topmost devotee of the Lord, then you accept the risk and go back home, back to Godhead, by satisfying him, by preaching his mission all over the world.
And although there may be some contamination, something may be there. But still, if you just go on with the mission, you will be able to conquer over it. Yes? No, not at all. When you say top most devotees, you mean you want to be the devotee everybody does artistic and worship, or do you want to be the one who is fully absorbed in love of God? That is purely spiritual. That is the whole goal of the whole philosophy. But you want to be the top most devotees. Now, I guess it is time for Doctor Tommy to come back. Okay.
Talk about it. He said, sense gratification. So he gets on the microphone, right? 1000 people are all waiting. He says, completely annihilate. He says, little squeaky, little kid’s voice. He goes. And they, you know, Lokan hag Maharaj was here. He was, like, running it. The kids would speak in English and he would translate, you know, into Hindi. And they were, you know, they loved it. People loved it. Especially when they see a little kid. I think it’s fabulous. And. But it was really not. But it was really a nice experience for us. This year, I think we want to go south India. Why don’t you tour America? Well, that’s the next step.
Yeah.
There’s newspapers.
There’s two bengali boys. Yeah, that’s a fact. There’s two bengali boys that Śrīla Bhatika wants to bring to America for, like, a preaching tour. And one boy from here, from Māyāpur. He came from Māyāpur. Fantastic boys. Another boy also came from the real good for dunga player. They’re supposed to go this summer. And that’s like, the beginning. The original idea was, like you said, was to have, like, a whole core group over there and just tour around. But I think that’s gonna take a little while. I think this will be like the. The first in road, you know, if these two guys go and see what happens, because it’s like a real big expense. You hari Mararisan, right? Yeah, yeah. Hare Kṛṣṇa Das.
Yeah, yeah.
And you’re right. That’s a big program. These guys are the next. It’s the next wave against Māyā. Next big wave, Toronto. Yeah. Just seeing these boys is pretty inspiring. Oh, yeah. When you come to Vrindavan, you will see them watching out. They’re all spread out here in my port. When you’re going to be relaxing, be nice. You should come with us. The boys go out every day to the gym. They will become famous all over and eventually all over the world.
I guess we’re here.
I don’t know.
This is the place known as Bael Pokur, which literally means the pond that is surrounded by Bale trees. I am sure you know what Bale’s fruit is around hard shelled fruit. And Kṛṣṇa used to play ball football with this. And this place is the counterpart of the pale forest in Vrindavan. And here there’s a Lord Shiva is meditating here. And whoever worships Lord Shiva with the leaves of Bel tree immediately gets his benediction. So some brahmins worship Lord Shiva and received his benediction. And among these brahmanas, there was one very special Brahmin. He is nimbar Kṛṣṇa acharji. I am sure you all know about Nimbar Kharji. He is from the Chapishan chamber, the four kumaras. There in their line, in their disciples succession, is one of the four. Great Vaishnava charges Nimbar Kacharjiv Nimbar Kharja worshiped Lord Shiva very specially.
So then Lord Shiva directed him a divine bale forest in this area which is not manifest in our mundane eyes. And he said that there the four kumaras are meditating. So he told them that you go and you worship them. So Nimbar to Acharjal, he went to the divine bell forest and he started to, when he saw the four kumaras, four little children naked, they are meditating and they’re in a trance. So when he started, then he started chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, Mahamanthe. And then the four kumaras opened their eyes and saw a vaishnav in front of them. So they asked him, what do you want? So then he revealed. He said, that I want your mercy. And so then he revealed his identity. Nimbar Kashaji told them who he is.
And then they said, well, you are our man like Lord decided to spread his glories in the Sally joke through four very special persons. They are Ramanuja Charger, Madhva Charger, Vishnu Swami and Nimbar Kwacharja. And you are the fourth one. And Ramanuja Charger was blessed by Lakshmi. Madhva Charger was blessed by Brahma. Vishnu Swami was blessed by Rudra for Lord Shiva. And you are our man. And the Mandev, they gave him the mantra and the Sanath Sangeeta, a very special way of worshipping the lord. And through this process, he started to worship the lord or meditate on the lotus feet of the lord. Then the lord appeared. Rādhā Kṛṣṇa appeared in front of Nimbar Kṛṣṇa Charja. And they told him that this place, this is a very dear. This place is very dear to us. And then they manifested.
They said, they manifested their united form of Chaitanya Mahāprabhu. So Nimbal prajarji then said, I mean, what is this form? I never heard of this form and I have never seen this form before. He said, this is a very special form which will manifest in the age of later on. This form will be manifest. And you don’t talk about. You don’t tell anybody about this form. Now you keep it a secret. The devotional service to the divine couple, Rādhā Kṛṣṇa. And then they say that I will manifest in this Mahatrabhu form, I will manifest in this Navadi and I will perform my pastime. And at that time you will appear as Keshav Kashmiri. You will be born in Kashmir, in the northern part of India. And you will become a very great scholar.
As a great scholar, you will be born and you go out all over India conquering with your knowledge or wisdom. And then I will meet you. And in that pastime, the Chetana Mahāprabhu or Goshundar, I will be displaying my wisdom. And so I will have a bout with you, I will have a fight with you. And in that fight I will defeat you. And so. And, but for the time being, you just keep preaching this loving devotional service to Rādhā Kṛṣṇa. And in this context, let me also say something about Keshav Kashmiri. Keshav Kashmiri. He started from North India and he went all over India. And he defeated all the pundits or great scholars all over India. And the only place that was left was Nawaddi. And Nawaddik was the place of nay or logic. The Navativ was very famous for logic or logicians.
And if he defeated the appointed of Navati, then he would have been accepted as the greatest scholar of the entire India. And when he was coming to Navati, and when the scholars of Navatu got to know that Keshav Kashmir is coming, they all started running away from there under various pretexts. Somebody’s daughter was getting married, somebody about his mother was sick, somebody’s wife was pregnant. So they just started running away from nowadays with the fear of being defeated by Keshe of Kashmiri. And the only person, only scholar that was left there in Nawadb at the time was a 14 year old boy called Nimāi Pandey. Chaitanya Mahaprabhuki. But Sesha Kashmir, when heard that there’s only this 14 year old boy, Nimāi Pandey, he didn’t pay much attention to him. He thought that might as well wait for the people to come back.
And then when they come back, I will have my fight with them and defeat them. And so he was waiting. He stayed there in our state, in Māyā post and waiting for the scholars to come back. And then one day he was walking around on the bank of the ganges and he saw that a young boy is teaching some people, teaching some students. So he went to them, went to this young boy who was teaching and asked, who are you? And he said, well, my name is Nimāi. He said, oh, you are the Nimāi Pandit. He said, yes, people call me Pandit, but I don’t know really whether I am a Pandit or a scholar. So in case of Kashmiri, he challenged me. He said, I can see that you are very humble. But anyway, give me a five. So Nimaya Pandit said that.
Look, you are such a renowned scholar and I am so insignificant in front of you. So what’s the point in getting into fight with you? And that will be my audacity if I do that. So on the other hand, let me. Let me take advantage of your association. So let me learn something from you. So Keshav Kashmiri, he accepted it. This is fine. I got no announcement now. Your cold rings will be sold later. So then Chetano Mahāprabhu, he asked him. Then Kṛṣṇa Kashmir asked Catano Mahāprabhu. So what do you want to know from me? So Catanu Mahāprabhu said that this Ganges is flowing here and now. You please glorify this Ganges. Sing the glories of Ganges. I want to hear the glories of Ganges. Another son, Keshav Kashmiri, he composed 100 slopes, one after another.
And those were recited with the flow and the rhythm of the Ganges. The way the gang with the flow and the rhythm. The Ganges are flowing. He recited the slopes one after the other with the same flow and the same rhythm. And then after reciting hundred slopes, glorifying ganges, he asked, so what do you think of it? So Mahāprabhu said, it was very nice accepting a few mistakes here and there. Got very angry. He said, you are just a kid. You are trying to find my fault. And he started chastising Mahāprabhu. Then ultimately he said that. Tell me, what was the mistake that you found in my tale or glorification of Genji? Then Mahadur took just one slope, the 65th slope. And he pointed out five mistakes in just one slope. Keshav Kashmiri was defeated.
And he, with a broken heart and bowed down hair, he walked away from there. And actually Keshav Kashmir was blessed by Shaharashruthi, the goddess of learning that she will reside on his tongue. And so he started to tell Shah that you had to insult me this. That ultimately I can act as deceased from a little boy only. And so then Shaharishwari appeared in front of Keshav Kashmiri and said, Keshav, your wisdom has been successful today. Because the person who defeated you is none other than the supreme personality of God in himself. And then Keshav Kashmiri went back to Mahāprabhu, surrendered himself to him. And then he started to preach the glories of Mahatma all over India. So Prashant Kashmiri, who was actually nimbal Karjal he received the darshan of the Lord Caitarna and Rādhā Kṛṣṇa at this spot by.
After receiving the mantra and the direction from the four kumaras. And this is displaced by. And this is also the. This place is also famous for as Chaitanya Mahāprabhu’s mother Shachi Mata’s place, birthplace, I mean, where she spent her childhood. And this deity, the dancing Kṛṣṇa, is a deity which was worshipped by Shachimatha herself. And this temple was established by Nilamba Chakravarti, Shachimatha’s father. And this temple has been renovated recently by our ISkCon. What’s the response? Doctor Veranto, Charity Trust. Doctor Veranto Shami, Charity trust. The trust that Prabhupāda set up only a few days before he left this planet. Not few days, few weeks before he left this planet. This is one of the work of our Bh city. Alan Tuswami carried each other. So now we will be going to Nishinga Palli, the place of Lord Rishia.
And no, Shubhan will be a very empty. Yes. So we will just go straight to Nishinga Palli. So let’s hurry back and hare Kṛṣṇa. One thing. When we’re traveling on this prikram, we should always be chanting the holy name. So everybody’s probably finished your japa. If you haven’t, you can in the evening. But when we’re in a long line, then there can be many different kirtans all along the line. Sadeena. And I know my name. I gotta get.
